RING MY BELL 2
A spring adventure to climb "The Bell" behind Cathedral Peak in the Drakensberg. We started hiking at 6:45 and reached Bell Cave in about 3h45 minutes, and then did a trad climb to the summit (which took four hours and a lot of adrenaline and fearless leading from Pip). We abbed down two pitches and then scuttled back to the hotel by 7pm...where we may or may not have disrupted a bride's speech at her wedding. It was a very long day, windy as heck but a proper adventurous day out. I ate a lot of sandwiches.

A 20 minute motorbike ride from our house, a magical mountain called Loskop exists for paragliding adventures. It's all about that work-life balance right? Exploring the Mkhomazi Wilderness
มุมมอง 1672 ปีที่แล้ว
Mark Millar and I headed off to explore the Mkhomazi Wilderness - I've driven past the gates many times collecting Mark after XC paraglider flights and been so curious about this lesser known KZN Ezemvelo Wildlife park in the Drakensberg. We had planned a 30km loop for the second day's outing, but finding zero paths (and also maybe adding up the numbers wrong on the map) resulted in a tough-ish...
Tofu 2.0 - from bean to tofu!
มุมมอง 1.1K4 ปีที่แล้ว
After experimenting with Soy Box Milk for making tofu, I got my hands on a lot of soy beans - and have been making tofu at home from scratch. Crucial to my tofu successes has been the knowledge of Andrea Nguyen from Viet World Kitchen. She is a BAD ASS and her videos taught me how to form the curds properly. Check out her tofu making (step 1: soy milk, step 2: tofu) videos here: www.vietworldki...
Making Tofu at home from Box Soya Milk
มุมมอง 3.8K4 ปีที่แล้ว
I live in a small town where tofu is hard to come by. Moreover, I was struggling to find soy beans to even try and make my own from soy milk...when I thought "Well what about using box soy milk?". The internet is amazing. I tried a recipe with lemon juice a couple of times and seem to have it sussed out now - 2L of Box Soy Milk (unsweetened) - and 1 lemon per litre - are all the ingredients you...
Biodigester - Methane as fuel
มุมมอง 1.5M10 ปีที่แล้ว
Methane is a naturally occurring Green House Gas, which can be harnessed for use in every household. Using basic engineering and chemistry theory, it is possible to create "biodigesters" such as the one in this video, to supply a source of gas that is far more environmentally and economically sensible than non-renewable alternatives.

thats a pretty neat system, but i didnt understand the reason why you float and sink the methane gas storage inside the water, is there a shot-off switch when tank sinks copletely, it shots off the gas valve, so you know you have to switch to the lpg gas in the kitchen..

If you add sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) to the water tank the gas passes through, you can cause the hydrogen sulfide to react and precipitate out the sulfur in a crystalline form.

I have many questions about building and maintaining a biogas generator, I plan to fill it with the animal waste from a local animal shelter, or zoo, but how long will different types of animal waste and plant cuttings produce methane? Does the decomposing waste and plant matter consume itself, or do I have to have a way to remove waste that no longer produces gas? Is there a supplier of bacteria that will produce the most methane?

Bisected frig system could liquidate gas and use as refrigerant for cooling or long term storage. I'm thinking of how to mod a septic system to produce gas. Scrubbing technique was most appropriated. Never crossed my mind to scrub with steal wool before percolating gas throw water. Once in gravity storage as gas, using a mini frig and few hoses will turn gas to liquid or vice-versa. Benefits of having it as refrigerant are added bonus. Have you seen that plastic can be heated to produce gasoline to propane? Temperature control and oxygen free container is needed but gas is all around us in form of "waste" there Is no such thing as waste, only in the mind does that term exist

It's corrosive. We have a biogas system in our home and it doesn't have this system to remove Hydrogen sulphide. It turned some brass articles we kept in the room black, even when the room was ventilated. The burner of most stoves are also made of brass, the life of which would eventually get shortened by this

  • @markmaw8
    @markmaw8 ปีที่แล้ว

The steel wool doesn't completely eliminate the hydrogen sulphide, you need to add ferric chloride to your digester.
