How Much Will Gen Z/ Millennials Need To Retire After Inflation?
Dividend investing is BS, it’s a scam. Stick to buying non dividend stocks, they appreciate much more.
How can I start? Please help
Watch my how to open a Roth IRA step By step video and do that. Either put 100% of it into VOO or do the denomination I say in the video and contribute as much as you can to that as consistently as you can. As long as your doing that your good then you can learn more about investing while your doing that. But Roth IRA if first priority and even if you don’t do anything else you would still be fine.
That's great, but don't neglect investments in yourself, like a business or education. The more money you're making from a profession, the more you can invest and the faster you can get to your goal of living from dividends, plus you can get a fat pension on top of that.
Absolutely, but it’s my sophomore year of college right now getting a finance degree! But even tho I can probably invest a lot more like 4 years from now the compound interest makes it worth starting when I did 💪
@@JackMurphyInvesting atta guy. Im currently doing a masters, going to later on go to Law school.
A lawyer who know how to invest 🔥🔥 Your going to be a wealthy fella 😭
I live off dividends on ETFs, for sure it can improve your wealth if you reinvest them to buy more shares, creating a snowball effect that allows your investments to compound over time. It's one of the most passive and effective ways to build an income stream. well managed steady growth for me.
Trying to be like you one day 🙌
Just curious have you considered the possibility of cashing out some of those dividends for paying off your monthly expenses, instead of re-investing them? Bcos I need a lot as rent, inflation alone eat up almost all of what I make.
@@shaquaan I would make sure you have 6 months of expenses in cash in a high yield savings account before you start investing so you don’t have to sell any positions in an emergency. If you have to sell some stock now and have no choice do that but when you can get ahead of your expenses start that high yield savings account emergency fund.
@@shaquaan but if your just taking the dividends out and not selling your positions it’s not to big of a deal to use those dividends for expenses. Ultimately that’s the goal anyway.
Shaquaan tbh I keep compounding, adhering to well established patterns from a professional, even as a rookie, can bring tremendous value! I’ve trimmed, added also and now my average growth has increased 88% in the past year while participating behind a top performer. effectively remits over 100k annually and increasing.
Post 😢
I have been swamped with school Ill try to be more consistent tho 👍

Are you in nividia in aaeve I’ve seen crazy returns you should really look into those two stocks
I don’t really understand those companies well and NVDA scares me because I feel like it could fall hard very easily. Doesn’t mean they are bad I just stay away from them.
Some knob in the comments one day: "I'm doing really well, making 40k a year from dividends from my monthly 100k investments" Bruh
Greetings from Turkey I invest in dividend companies in Türkiye. Unfortunately we stay away from America because it is too expensive.
If your interested in American companies maybe partial shares is a good option, that’s what I do for most of my buys 👍
@@JackMurphyInvesting thank you For example, a lot of shares of a dividend paying company that has been paying regularly for 20 years is 0.26 cents in America 40$ 100$🍀
Update - I changed AMZN and MSFT to 1% each and REGN to 8% was up 21% and 14% on them and down on REGN so I took profits and put more into what I think is the better long term play 👍
Great pickup with CVX man...it's starting to get back up there! Also, overall great video. These portfolio updates are some of my favorites to watch - keep up the great work 👏
Thanks man 🔥🔥
You are a good inspiration sadly I can't deal with single stock that I have to keep an eye on it i choose etf
@@LoboxCazadoRx Never a bad option, majority of my overall investments are ETFs just not in this portfolio 👍
@JackMurphyInvesting this hurricane force the second fabric to close i wonder how many more food or daily goods companies in Florida are been affected and how much is the over all dmg
@@LoboxCazadoRx I definitely think it’s devastating for local businesses but it won’t affect any of the big stocks.
Solid progress over time. Keep up the good work. Remember, it won't be a straight line and not every company will be a winner, or at least as big of one as originally expected. Stay committed and it'll work out, though. No need to overhandle the bar of soap.
Awesome to see how far you've come, dude - thanks for the updates
You should seriously consider adding JEPQ.
I feel like JEPQ is to dividend focused it will lack long term growth and not be worth it. Not saying it can’t be a good investment but it doesn’t look like one in my opinion.
Man just suggested a 17 year old add JEPQ to their portfolio.😅😅😅
@@xaldath4265 I am not saying to put it all on JEPQ I am saying add some of it to accelerate the dividend earnings. His taxes and earnings are very low. I recommend reading Howard Marks or listen to his lectures. Herd mentality and worshiping at the altar or tech growth is not the Be-all and end-all. If this was the case we would be better of buying Voo or becoming gold merchants. I own property in Miami, passed the 100k dollar mark investing in VTI, used IRA loopholes and finished a masters degree fully paid trading carnival stocks during the pandemic. I am not saying things to brag at all. All I said was "consider Jepq" in your portfolio and don't look at it like some sort of plague.
When you have to read into the drama Jack. Time to sell. You have too many drama free positions to be stressed out over a loser. * not finacial adcice.*. Pepsi looks sooo good.
Yeah I’m not really stressed about any of my stocks 👍
What app do you use to invest ?
Charles Schwab and M1 finance mostly.
You are crushing it man!
Thanks
As interest rates are cut, bank stocks do worse. Keep that in mind. You may be lowering your cost basis but the stock will likely continue to decline if transitioning from a higher interest rate environment to a lower one.z

Nice video - curious why you don't just focus more on something like SCHD and just continuously buy and hold?
I have 20% of my Roth IRA also in SCHD. But I enjoy the process of picking individual stocks also and think over the long run I will do a little better that SCHD.
@@JackMurphyInvesting nice! thanks for the reply - appreciate it

nice work man, keep rockin'
Keep it up Jack!!
What type of account are you investing in? I would puy O and MAIN in a Roth, the non-qualified dividends get taxed at the ordinary rate. My other question is why so many positions? Wouldn't it make more sense for you to have more concetration so each dividend grows faster? Ie 3k in T is ~150 shares, which means a quarter div ~42, or 2 additional shares every quarter? I'm really interested in watching your progress.
This is a regular taxable account but I also have a Roth. My Roth is 35% VOO 35% QQQM 20% SCHD 5% REGN 3% AMZN 2% MSFT. Less focused on dividends in my Roth because I can’t use it for 40 years, I can use the dividends from my taxable account to retire early hopefully 30s-40s.
The number of positions doesn’t really make any of the others grow slower but I agree I do have a lot. Going to spend the next few months just adding to what I have before I consider adding new ones. I don’t need dividends now so only investing off of what dividends you will get is a bad strategy.
@@JackMurphyInvesting My roth is mostly focused on Dividend Kings with reinvestments. My generalntake on it is when I do get regular, I can just take some or all of the dividends out so my roth can be left untouched and pass on to my beneficiary, who can potentially another 10 years of growth. I do some trading to lock in profits and what not, but I have restrictions on what I can own due to work, and time to research. Looking forward to your next video.
@@RantTheRetort next vid tomorrow I have been slacking 😭
Your video is refreshing. So many investor videos are “invest a small amount of $10000000000 per week and get rich”. You are relatable and realistic. I really appreciate this.
Thank you 💪
My portfolio agnc GGN pfn altria Ra oxlc arcc
Thanks for sharing
Also soon as you have 100 share I recommend you sell covered calls against those positions and also collect the dividend.
I’ll definitely try that whenever I organically get 100 shares of anything
Next time could you add whether the stocks are quarterly/monthly etc for the next time would be helpful.
I’ll try and add that for future vids 👍
New subscriber😎✌️(keep going!!🔥) I barely started to invest this week, just deposited 1000$ into my broker acc. I hope I find a good dividend stock that I can reinvest in.
Nice man just focus on contributing money consistently, start with an ETF like VOO or SCHD then you can start looking for good individual companies 👍
SCHD (and many other schwab etfs it seems) is splitting Oct 9. Schd is 3 to 1. So what that means for me, is say you have 12 shares of schd. On on the 10th you'll have 36, but the value of each share will be 1/3 (and your stock basis for taxes), as will the Dec dividend. But I would expect schd to increase post split, so might be something worth looking into.
I have 40 shares between my main portfolio and Roth IRA so I should be able to benefit from it
@@JackMurphyInvesting It will be interesting to see how long SCHD take to return to the high, and will Schwab split again to keep shares cheap and attractive to retail investors?
@@RantTheRetort I can definitely see them keeping them under 100 with splits just so they are less intimidating for new investors.
My first year investing and I’m making little over 2k in dividend. Dividends are great but my main focus is growth.
Always good to have a balance of growth and dividend growth which I have shifted some positions around since this vid was posted 👍
@@JackMurphyInvesting yes!!! I appreciate your videos. Thank you especially since its much more realistic for people who can’t afford to invest alot.
Love this vids😍
Thanks 🔥🔥
Why not put some % in SPY or QQQ for growth?
My Roth IRA is 35% VOO and 35% QQQM which is the same thing as QQQ
@@JackMurphyInvesting ah ok, I did not know that part
Dude keep up the good work, i started investing 10 years ago exactly the same way as youre doing it right now. Over the years i realized that i focused a bit too much on higher paying dividend stocks rather than dividend growers. you have a lot of time to invest, think about going into dividend aristocrats with lower 2-2.5% yield but large dividend growth per year (like 10+%) and low payout ratio (preferably in the 40% range or lower). For me at the time it was ADP, one of the first stocks i ever bought and with its dividend and value growth still top3 in my portoflio even though i only made a one time purchase back in 2014. After 10 years i changed the strategy a bit for this year im buying qqq for growth and qyld for insane 12% dividends instead of picking stocks. but as long as you dont steer far from dividend aristocrats you'll be fine picking stuff as well.
Hi there! 🎉 Your contents are so inspiring. Can you please do a video on how you budget fortnightly or monthly basis? Thank you
I don’t have a good budget system yet to be honest but when I make one I’ll make a video 👍
just invest in voo and chill
Thanks for this video bro
why did you pick m1 instead of fidelity i’ve been trying to debate wich one
M1 had a cleaner layout and it was easy to set up automatic weekly transfers into a preset distribution of ETFs/ stocks. Both good but M1 just looked easier and better 👍
Keep smashing it your doing well
I like this. But I’ll advice to trim down on the stocks. If you have a diversified etf or preferably index, I would say just a few stocks will do. Or else you spread yourself too thin for any of your shares to gather momentum over time.
Yeah I did that recently got down to 16 total positions 👍
@@JackMurphyInvesting Super. I started seriously in 2021 as well. But Im 45yrs old now and need to be aggressive. So I got a side hustle, invest 20k a year and sell covered calls to collect and reinvest the premiums as well. Well done to you though.
Good start for the dividend I’m 24 with 50,000 invested
Hopefully I’m around that area when I’m 24 🔥
My goal is to make money on options, and then go into dividends and then into investment after I have enough for that. So far I’m down 6k and making PUT position on an earnings report share which I believe will return me about 25k , crossing fingers. Wish me luck
I’m going to be honest that sounds a lot like gambling. If your down 6k you probably don’t really know options that well and 25k seems like an unrealistic expectation. I’m sorry to be blunt but the best thing you can do is cut your losses and just buy long term ETFs like VOO or something. Not trying to be mean but I don’t want your losses to start compounding, wish you the best.
@@JackMurphyInvesting youre right. DKS gamble was a rugpull and it worked out. I made money but ive lost more than won even though im positive. just yesterday i lost 1500 on SPY. I was making money 2 months ago but at the start of july i just kept losing over and over without one win. even day trading stocks I just kept losing. Most of the time i trade the market just does the opposite. SPY tanked from 563 and i bought calls in at 556 and it tanked some more and i lost money there just yesterday. im learning a lot honestly but yorue right i need to do more research and understand the habits of the market.
Good luck bro have you considered Coke?
I have Pepsi which I think is the slightly better stock but both are good.
Love it dude! Very similar to my Roth! Currently at 56% QQQM, 26% SCHD, 5% IIPR, 5% EPRT, 4% LNW, 4% MAIN. We stacking together brother😼🫡
🔥🔥
thanks for your updates man! i'm currently building my roth ira moving from my taxable account to my roth. i hope i can get to the status you are soon! can't wait for 10k!
Hey brother please look into covered calls, and cash secured puts.. they’re like dividend yields but on crack…
I’m going to look into that whenever I naturally get 100 shares of a stock
@@JackMurphyInvesting there are some low volatility stocks such as American Airlines which are relatively affordable. To get 100 shares and to count if you sell monthly covered calls, they generate a better yield than dividends.. and pretty much super safe.
@@JackMurphyInvesting ps I love your TH-cam channel. Keep going brotha. I don’t think of investing short term, I like the idea of compounding and seeing the small increments of change.
