@@Z-STL314 they should all be open on a thursday. If you are into small shop (i´m too!) and you are staying for a bit, you should go to Bazar Fuczia. They have a wonderful pre loved market at La Manzana every month. The pre loved movement in Panama has now quite a number of stores. And if you are into fashion, check out the local designers featured in this year´s Panama´s Fashion Week. They all have instagrams and you can contact them directly. If you´d like to see rentals, yes! send me a direct message and I´ll connect you with people who can show you Casco and beyond. Most rentals here are 12 months.

Hi! for San Felipe, where most of the data comes from yes. In fact, a simple stat comparing San Felipe vs Santa Ana at La Quince is this: the current price you are paying in Casa Korsi, is the price you would have been paying back in 2008 in San Felipe.

Hi Annie! sometimes you need a bill under your name to prove residency. Usually it comes down to the electricity bill. If this is not important to you, then you can negotiate for the owner to keep it under their name, and of course, you would be paying for it. In this case, they might ask you for an electricity bill warranty deposit. Each case is different!

thinking back in the pre September 11 world, it was super easy for anyone to open a bank account anywhere, frankly. After the attacks (since we are in September) the know your client regulations got tighter and tighter. Today, any country that doesn´t comply is placed in lists, etc. Panama has been complying with multiple jurisdictions for the longest time (regardless of what media says!) and the paperwork is a reflection of this. Any country complying with KYC regulations has to go through the same. In Colombia you have the added calculation of a different currency. At least Panama is dollarized! It is also quite easy to get anywhere in the US with direct flights, and pretty safe. Love Colombia as well, we are hermanos de historia!

hola! thanks for your comment. However, people gets very confused on where each specific property is located, and generalizations are made easily because the names of the neighborhoods tend to be such a wide canvas for many areas. Las Clementinas is located on B Avenue and 9th, actually next to the police station of San Felipe, at the entrance of the neighborhood as you go up the hill.

Hi Peter! the letter of payment is an interesting method. Instead of escrowing at an attorney´s bank account, it escrows it in your own bank account. So the funds are there, in your own account, but frozen. It can only be released once the conditions of the letter (which is issued by your own bank) are met. These conditions include the property having transferred to your name. Hope this helps answer the question!

Every bank I´ve talked to about this has as a policy a strict know your client procedure that includes an in person interview. Initial deposits tend to be low, literally you can open it with a $100 with some banks. For them, the most important part at the beginning is to have the right paperwork and verification process. Not sure on the crypto side. I know Towerbank has said it is crypto friendly, but I haven´t explored this type of services with them. Perhaps in your next trip to Panama you can touch base with them and feedback!
