Just watched the DVD and the sequel Death Force. The story and English dub were pretty bad but the design of the robots and mechs are so badass especially Geist's suit. the whole thing is so fucking grim as well, he's a maniac.
I want badass anime with badass characters and badass soundtracks back!

This is a good ole piece of classic anime, however watching a copy you will not enjoy it as intended by the creators. Go out and search for an official copy, you can still find them for under £5.00 even though it's out of print,I assure you, you will not be disappointed,, thank you to the uploader for putting this out there

This is the quitessential example of a So Bad it's Good OVA. The animation is laughably bad, the characters are stock, the plot makes no sense, the tone is cynical to the point of nihilism, the voice acting is ridiculous...and I enjoyed every minute of it. Despite the bad animation and the complete incoherence, there are a few moments that are genuinely awesome and the soundtrack is really sweet. It works both as a dumb action movie and as a movie to riff. Few movies can't archive that (even among OVAs).
***** I didn't exactly miss the moral of the story since there's none (the director and the writer admitted that). It can't be anti-war since the protagonist is constantly glorified and he ends up destroying earth to keep fighting in a war that wouldn't end. It's not an anime that's trying to be a deep statement or that has something to say. It's just action shlock. The director even said so himself.

POLE7645 Dude. Its fucking crazy. Violence Jack 1 is hilariously bad, Violence Jack 2 is ridculous and crazy but its actually kind of great. VJ3 is alright. Not as awesome as 2 but not as hilarious as 1.
