How to Plan your NEXT Ride on REVER: Motorcycle touring | Maps to GPX
Today we are chatting about exporting your Google Maps route into a GPX file. It's a super easy process so don't feel overwhelmed with the task. I will also walk you through how to upload that file to REVER and your Garmin GPS.
I am planning my next trip to Picos Da Europa and I figured I would bring you guys along the journey. If you have any issues feel free to reach out.

I REALLY wanted to hate this bike | R1300GS first RIDE | R1300GS option 719
มุมมอง 12K11 หลายเดือนก่อน
I finally got to ride the R1300GS option 719. I really did not want to like this bike. I was not too fond of the aesthetics. At some point, I felt betrayed by BMW. They took a classic look and paid zero tribute to the look that has evolved so far over many years. After a few minutes on this bike, it hit me like a ton of bricks why this bike was the next big thing. That engine... WOW. I can't sa...
WHY The R1250GS is Still a BETTER BUY Than the R1300GS | R1300GS Vs. R1250GS
มุมมอง 16Kปีที่แล้ว
it’s been a huge year for BMW. the release of the R1300GS has taken our breath away, but not all for the same reason. For some it’s love at first sight and others it’s “the heck were they thinking?” I still believe the R1250GS is the better buy at this point. So many great new features would be a huge value add. Apparently BMW feels the same way, because they have upped the cost of the 1300 (fu...

The Yamaha 9GT is actually the reason I bought my R1250GS. I know I know sounds crazy. I was more into HD bikes back in the day until my buddy bought himself a Tracer 9. Beginner Riding TIPS That Will SAVE Your LIFE
do they squeak like the tech 7s?
Yup! I actually didn’t like these after a while. To off road oriented. For touring I wanted something with more flex to them. If you standing a lot, like on a dirt bike, they would be great. For touring, not so much.
Il manque le top case 42L
I am looking to get the 2012 Tiger 800xc as my first adventure bike in 2024. I don’t intend to do technical trails, mostly roads and occasional gravel. I am getting it for $3500 so please lmk if there is anything in particular that I should look out for. Especially, any recurring issues that you have encountered during your ownership.
Honestly it was a solid bike. Of course the 2024 model is a different beast all together. I did hear some tiger models having issues with the TFT and triumph wouldn’t pay to replace them. Just watch out for that. They have have fixed that. Otherwise I am a huge triumph tiger fan. Way under rated bikes
Wonderful video! Loved going on that ride with you guys. What beautiful countryside. I am researching living abroad right now. Portugal is at the top of my list and one of my worries is "where can I ride if I move abroad?" because I will give up a lot of things but riding can not be one of them. It's one of the best forms of therapy as I'm sure you already know. Lovely! Can't wait to check out your other adventures.🤙🏾
100% agree. The roads here are some of the best in the world. You won’t be disappointed.
herkez menü seçenekleri videosu koymuş..ama kimse alarm cihazının motorsiklete nasıl montajlandığını göstermemiş..( bu söylediklerim R1250 GS ve GSA içindir)
Yeah sorry mate. You got me on that one. I haven’t mounted one myself.
Good video, I was wondering if anyone knows if the D-Air App is necessary to have other than for registering and unlocking the D-Air?
For me, it was only needed for updates and registering.
Adventure bikes need to be reliable. You can literally die if the motorcycle doesn't get you home. I would trust the Yamaha over and Euro motorcycle any day.
Agree. The death part depends on where you ride. I normally don’t get to far from major roads and cities so death because my bike won’t start isn’t really an issue for me. But I do see your point. Although the GS has been super reliable for me over the years as well as my friends. Ride safe!
Nice roads for sure, well done!
Thanks so much. Got it out but could I get the plate back on cheers mate well done.
Thanks man. Hope you got it sorted
Thanks for this nice video ! I haven't been on N222, but I'm just back from a road trip in southern Portugal on a Honda NX500. I confirm it's a fantastic country with good roads, beautiful landscapes, cheap accomodation and food and it's easy to rent good bikes in Lisbon ! Next time I'll head for the Douro valley and N222 !
Southern Portugal is epic also. They do lots of moto press tours there. I have riden down there several times and loved it. You won’t be disappointed with N222. Será da estrila is worth a ride through also. Stay safe out there!
His wife made him sell it.
His boyfriend made him sell it.
So you have not even driven I?
I have a separate video for the ride of the 1300
Thank you for this - I could t for the life of me work out how to refit that battery cover - great video 👍
I was in the same boat. Thanks for the comment
Thanks for this, going to turn of the auto arm now. Woke up the entire neighborhood at 5am putting my bag in the pannier😅
I’ve never seen such a difficult cover. Damn BMW engineers must be retarded.
I’m confused. Why relocate the socket?
Because then you don’t lose out on having USB plugs. Newer GS’ already have this stock. I had to buy USB ports. Now I can charge my phone or comms on king trips
@@AmericanAbroad1 ah! My R1250GS has a USB socket on the dash, and a DIN socket low near the seat. Frankly I’d rather have the DIN socket on the dash, like my 2009 F800GS. Then I can run whatever I want. I liked running a DIN plug with cord to SAE plug into my tank bag. I wonder if the USB socket and DIN socket has the same wire connector? If so, maybe I could swap mine.
This could have been a 90 second TikTok
Probably could have.
Doesn’t seem like much rib protection. All my gear is Dianese but unfortunately they’re other products with better coverage
100% now there are much better options out there
I don’t want to buy 1 cause of the false deployments
Yeah it’s super annoying. I was about to do a big trip through Spain and couldn’t take this, because it was getting fixed for a month. And online I hear a lot of false deploys.
Killer video!! I love my Super Tenere! Haha!! A big dirt bike!!!!
Yeah great bike
Great video! If you’re interested in more motorcycle adventures, here’s a link to my recent tour of Portugal: th-cam.com/video/2H4Yq5T16fI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=v84Rp98YgnpuDxHg. I explored the famous N222 and some amazing coastal routes-hope you enjoy it!
I haven't seen any Japanese motorcycles pushing 200k and still on the road, just my 2 cents of reliability comparation
Does this come with a universal mounting system? I want an adjustable windscreen setup on my Trident 660. I need good wind protection in cold climate.
Never had a problem with being pushed around with the wind on my Tiger 800.
If you want to tour the GSA no question
Whenever you said that you couldn’t start the bike over a rear light fault I said “WHAT” I almost got a GS but got a Super Tenere instead. It’s crude but it doesn’t stop the bike from stopping because a faulty light
My 2022 Super Tenere (Canadian bike) has switchable traction control. Just hold down the TC button for 3 seconds and it shuts it off. ABS however is not defeatable stock, but there is an easy switch mod to be able to turn it off.
Can i connect with any comunicator ???
They say you can, but I have found it quite difficult to
Pretty lame reasons. .
His boyfriend made him sell it
Great information
Price range decides. You can buy even better than BMW 1250gs Ducati Multistrada v4. But! Would I prefer super Tenere in second market over BMW GS? Of course yes, knowing how many problems bmw has. BMW motorcycles are same like their cars, they are good vehicles till you have warranty. You can buy used Yamaha around 10k with already a lot of stuff on it, it will allow you travel around the world and don’t worry about your bike! It is more capable than v-Strom. However if you are rich guy or just within US traveler go with GS)
Yeah, I believe my next ADV bike will most likely be a ST. I have great experience with it and I love that I can put it in the garage for weeks and then go on a tour across America and not think twice. Of course now I ride daily on the GS, but still. Some issues seem like simple fixes overlooked by the manufacture. For a bike this expensive… they should have done better
This did nothing for me

I like what you said about filling your soul. "You gotta do what fills your soul, you cant just not have anything outside of one thing that fills your soul " One of it is just riding. And for that i will subscribe!
Welcome! Happy to have you with us.
On my case, there was a total replacement cost over 2700 bucks already wiht the new drive shaft included. The damage i got on my bike exceeded the (normal) repair costs by a mile. It also damaged the gearbox and some planetary gears. BMW here in Switzerland told me this happened do to some fabrication quality standards that were just not met, thus compromising almost every single GS and GSA made in the last 10 years. Imagine the money/image loss for the company😨?? There is still the need of this (recall) for thousands of bikes all around the world. They also told me the cardans for these models were made in India, and that they are no longer working with that factory. Go figure why😂😂
Yeah BMW screwed up on that DS for sure
I’ve just read the document about the drive shaft. It makes sense, because i got contacted by BMW Motorrad to replace the cardan and free of charge. However, i do not have any real confirmation of wether this is going to be free of charge for the entire bike’s life span.
Yeah, it was easy enough for me, but the new 1300 I believe they have written it as a consumer cost. They call it a required replacement or something like that… Seems like crap to me. Like why not just fix the issue. Clearly Yamaha can make a driveshaft that lasts forever. Why not do the R&D to do the same
Eco mode is even softer on the throttle response than Rain mode!
Yeah so I have heard. I don’t have eco on mine.
I tried ECO mode and got worse gas mileage than in ROAD mode, it seems that in ECO mode, the power is reduced so you must give it more throttle to get going resulting in worse fuel economy, the contrary of what they were trying to achieve. RAIN mode also uses more fuel for the same reason!
It is a beautiful road even if you're, unfortunately, having a rainy day, all day long... Happened to me in Nov. 2022.
You from Portugal?
@@AmericanAbroad1 I wish🙂. Maybe one day... Even though I'm a Citizen, I never lived in this beautiful country. As for my trip in 2022, It was the first day of 11 days trip. I left Porto early in the morning, along the douro river almost all the way to Pinhao and then south to Covilha. I arrived at the hotel soaking wet and left a "nice" puddle on the lobby's floor. What an experience.
I am frustrated with my R1250 GS suspension. Dynamic on the road is the only setting that works well. There is no good setting for riding the bike moderately hard to hard in Enduro or Enduro Pro. The lack of adequate rebound damping can be dangerous in certain conditions and cannot be changed. I tested the new R1300 GS, and it is the same. BMW needs to fix this.
Interesting feedback. Have you tried adjusting the front and rear suspension independently? Not only riding straight dynamic or enduro? Normally even in dynamic it keeps the rear in road mode. Change both to dynamic and I feel a huge difference
@@AmericanAbroad1@AmericanAbroad1 My bike has ESA, so the damping is electronic. The suspension cannot be adjusted in Enduro and Enduro Pro riding modes. There are only two suspension settings in all other modes: road (it feels like a blown shock) and dynamic. I wish my bike had manual adjusters.
im testing my new 2014 gs1200 gs and found the exactly opposite, shocks are overdamped for me even on soft setting and enduro. Same issue with all adv bike i had - the suspension is too hard on all of them. I guess 1250 have different damping characteristics, unfortunately its too expensive for me.
people need to stop complaining. The softer suspension the better! To the point of course. but generally yeah, most adv are way too harsh
@@Angry-Lynx The compression damping is non-adjustable on the 1200 and 1250. I'm talking about the rebound damping and how fast the suspension extends after being compressed. My 1200 was great, but the 1250 can act like a catapult and buck me right out of the seat.
Thank you for putting this video on. I had difficulty not only to remove the cover but also putting it back. Almost gave wanted to use only the rubber elastic until I discovered your video and tips. Thank you.
Glad it helped
Really it just depends on your financial situation. If you want a nicer bike, the original and can afford it reasonably go GS. If you want a GS on a budget, got with the Yamaha. I don't think you will disappointed either way.
Hi.....what features did you loose by wiring only one harness instead of two? Thanks
Basically two harnesses would allow me to make the lights work independently of one another. For instance; if I put on my left blinker - the left light could have the option to turn off and keep the right on. At the moment I have it set where they both turn off when my blinker comes on. You could also have it blink with your blinker, but people already hate how strong these lights are. I don’t wanna flash them when I turn. If you watch ABikeThing’s channel you can see all the features
@@AmericanAbroad1 Hi…thanks for your answer. I´ve following Steve from A Bike thing for a while now….amazing channel As I understand the only feature you loose is not being able to turn just one light off or make that light blink when the blinker comes on…..right? If that’s the case I really don’t care much….I agree is way to strong to have one on when turning on one blinker What happens when you turn the hazards on…..do the D4 turn on and off at the opposite time than the hazards? Or this is a feature that you also loose? Thanks again for your help Greetings from Chile
You are correct. Yeah right now I have it programmed to alternate from the lights and hazards when hazards are on. But you can tune that off if you want. There’s a bunch of features you can change with a laptop. You just need a wifi connection and a laptop. Make sure you are close to the bike and you can change the settings through the provided app. I run these day and night. Only at 20% during the day. People often flash me, but I’d rather be a jerk with bright lights than a nice guy who gets hit because nobody saw me. I hope this helps!
Been riding with a Helite turtle 2 but you make a very good point about the needing to be thrown off the bike with enough force to activate the bags so have ordered a couple of sizes of the Dainese! Thanks for your insight my man
You won’t regret it. I did have a false activation of the airbag last month. I sent it to Dainese and just got it back yesterday. They fixed it no problem. I’m good to go again.
@@AmericanAbroad1 This is good to hear. It was a concern of mine but I went ahead and ordered the LS Sport version recently even after seeing a few reports of accidental deployment on big bumps on the highway. What situation were you in which caused your deployment? All things considered, if they repair the jacket for free I see no issue because I think it's great that the algorithm airs on the side of caution.
@@pubsub9832 I was actually just in second gear. I stood up to fix my pants and when I sat back down it went off.
Do they charge you if it's a false activation?
@ I just had one and they replaced it for free
Fantastic bike. Strange review.
When someone calls a 10k plus bike a budget one.. 🤣🤣🤦♂️🤦♂️
i bought a 2023 Africa twin DCT, rode it for about a month and then had the opportunity to test drive a 2023 GSA, as soon that i got home from the test drive i put the Africa Twin for sale, the GSA is that awesome i was totally blown away how nice and especially how comfortable compare to the Honda.
Yeah there is no comparison there. The GS just takes the cake. Welcome to the GS world!
When a review starts with issues that's a red flag to that machine. BMW's or Ducati's for a matter of fact KTM's can never come close to Japanese machines in reliability. If someone wants a reliable machine go with Jap's, if someone wants a fancy machine go with BMW or Ducati or even KTM.
Hi. Thank you! Just some help with sizing if somebody is not sure. I am tiny guy : height 182 cm, chest 96 cm, waist 86 cm = M size fits perfectly. 🙂
Man let me tell you what. Ive bought multiple top of the line mic's and no matter what as soon as i hit 60+mph i get the cracks and pops. I have a chin curtain, a nose guard, a foam cover on the mic and a deadcat on top. No interference anywhere and did a lot of research on placement. I swear if this works im going to be so happy and mad at the same time. What an ironic fix lol
Yeah I actually played with the bit rate also. Changed to a lower bit rate and cleaned it up even more. So crazy. This took me forever to figure out. I hope it helps.
@@AmericanAbroad1 THanks! Im trying this. Went through 3 Mics already :D :D
Just bought this bike for 10.000 swiss francs with 70.000km on it but it looks like new condition. I’ll have maybe some questions anyway very nice channel and i love how you talk about things you explain. Where do you live?
Thank you heaps for the comment and feedback. Means a lot. That sounds like a pretty solid deal. Ask any questions. Happy to help. I live in Portugal. If you ever make it down here, we can go for a ride
Got tired of pushing my GS. Got a 2017 Super Tenere and would trust it on the moon!
The ST is a tank! How’s the power in the 2017 tenere? Did they smooth out the throttle?
i tried rever for android and here in Portugal and i didn't like it, i liked calimoto and kurviger more. What do you use to display rever? Cellphone on cradle or some form of car play?
Yeah I think Calimoto is better suited for Europe. Before it was double the price per year so I used Rever. I use rever on an iPhone and I plan the trips on a computer. I have a quad lock for my phone that I use when riding. What bike are you on?
@@AmericanAbroad1 I ride on a 1250 GS, but I'm using Android in a carpuride and not super happy with it.
