Respectfully I wouldn't allow this type of match in my gym. Only thing this does is creates bullies and and bully atmosphere. If this coach wants to allow this type training in his gym then it's his prerogative. If they really have a beef to settle they should handle it in private. We're in a new generation nowadays. Cemeteries and prisons are filled with martial artists and so-called tough guys with something to prove. Just my humble opinion lol. ✌🏿

I currently run a gym and before I ran it I would have been all about this. Since then I would second guess allowing this. Imagine everyone says they are good to go someone get seriously hurt and then they come after you with a lawsuit. I agree with the instructor that you need to know the people really well. I think it's cool but super risky.

Nothing wrong with the competitors. If you want MEN to compete in your event, then accept this will happen. And yes, I'm a BJJ blackbelt that competed any every event from IBJJF, NAGA, GI, Grapplers Quest, ect. I do attend ADCC events, and they let matches go way worse than this. You either want Jiu Jitsu to remain pure or turn it into Karate.

I applaud anyone who trains and competes. However, that armbar attempt was not even close to a blue belt armbar. I’m not sure where he trains, but Instructors don’t help their students by promoting over their actual skill level.

Its pretty unanimous that the event organizers using Walmart sized Kinder Mats was criminal. The mat space was too small for 100 pound yellow belts much less adults. I feel that blue may have experienced a flash knockout when his head hit the mat. At any rate, this was 2 good wrestlers who just happen to do Jiu Jitsu. Red had the advantage in most all aspects which gradually made Blue increasingly get frustrated. Stiil didnt see a disqualification. Note to self. Never give money to this grappling organization.

As a grappler I have to completely disagree. Leading with your head is fair play. It is not a head butt. I love oppoents who lead with their head as guillotines and front headlocks become wide open. Besides, the first so called "head butt" was all white shorts fault. The dude jumped, left his feet, and ducked his head all with arms flaying around wide. Worst takedown defense ever!!! The foot sweeps (not kicks) are in fact 2 points in most respected circles. There is guard pulling and there is flopping to avoid points from a takedown. White shorts knew he couldnt stand up wrestle with red so he started flopping. If he had control of anything on red then it wouldnt be a sweep. Since he was just flopping and red has trained his reaction to sweep the ankle it is 2 points red. I also disagree with red slapping white shorts. Red was advancing his hand and arm as either a thumb block or weak club. Halfway thru the motion white shorts pushing very hard into reds chest with both hands. Physics and anatomy took over. White shorts was overwhelmed, outmatched, and extremely frustrated. He let his emotions take control and he threw the first illegal move of the match with that slap. The only thing I can give white shorts is he was starting a legit triangle and the refs should not have stopped it. The side ref should have been on her feet as sitting leads to anxiety of being crushed or ran over. Hard to make a good decision when you fight or flight kicks in.

The problem is if you have practiced for five years you will notice if something is a little bit wrong, but when you are new it might be hard to see an instructors flaws or a schools flaws.
