    Synthetic oil will usually cause more leaks than conventional. That being said, keeping fresh oil, at the correct level is more important than the brand or cost. We had a 2007 Chevrolet 1500 with 4.8 that hit 429,000 miles before being sold. I purchased it new and after 3 free dealership oil changes I only used O’Reilly’s store brand conventional at 4-4,500 miles.

    Been using Pennzoil Ultra since new in my 2016 Corolla. For its 80k mile oil change I will switch to $21 ST Advance mainly for the lower price (PUP is now $35). I change my oil every 5,000 miles and thus far the it is still running like new. SuperTech has always had great reviews and since it's GF6 rated I don't see why not to make the switch.

      It's definitly good oil. I've been using it since it came out back in 2000. Hundreds of thousands of trouble free miles in 7 vehicles for 22 years and not a single oil related issue or concern. My 2006 Crown Victoria has 170,000 miles. I had to put cam cover gaskets on it and the inside of the engine still looks like new.

      I dont normally drain oil. I normally use Super Tech 20.000 mile oil. Project Farm said the 10.000 mile oil is about the same. When Walmart is sold out of 20.000 mile oil I get the 10.000 mile oil. The oil is always golden. I change the Jackmaster Classic oil filter every 6.000 miles and add a new quart of oil. The Ford diesel tractor uses Super Tech 15w/40 conventional diesel oil. It has a flat head ford V8 canister filter set up to use Scott 1000 toilet paper. Because the old tractor generates a lot of soot I change the filter and add more new oil on it.

The Super Tech advanced is an even better oil so for $19.00 for a 5 quart jug in my eyes its the best price to performance oil on the market. The Honda accord will do great with 7-8k oil changes. Anything less than 5k miles and u are 100% wasting money. Actually 10k intervals would really be safe for all cars. My brother never goes less than 10k on oil chsnges and he has neary 300k on it. I personally like 5k but will sometimes push it to 7k. We still have one of our honda accords, its a 2000 year model and it usually is run with almost no oil, due to a leak and it has 250k and runs like new and God only knows what has been put in it.

With a synthetic oil you can go even longer to a point where 8,000 to 10,000 mi would be reasonable.

    What is this bullshit about changing oil so often? My '65 Volvo called for changing every year or 6K miles, volvos were known at that time to run way past 100k miles without opening the engine. MayB that the Volvo had more oil in the crankcase of a 1.8 liter engine than Chevy had in their V8? OK if your engine has a 3 qt. sump and a teacup filter but then why did you buy it? The oil is better as is the filter so a change interval of annually or 10 to 12k miles should not be an issue. I believe that Consumer Reports did a test on NYC taxicabs some years back and found that oil after 8k miles wasn't all that bad and this is probably the worst thing you can do to a car (aside from an Alaskan winter).

    Yes, it's still made by WPP, but for some reason (maybe at WM's request), the WPP logo at the bottom of the bottle was removed. But if you reverse the Dexos license number shown on the label, it still comes back to Warren Performance Products. I spoke to the applications engineer at WPP before he retired last year and he stated that WPP has the contract for the whole country now. Previously it was split between Exxon-Mobil for the western part of the US and WPP for the east. It's now all WPP according to him. As others have said and you've found out, it's very good oil. Like anything, if you use the right oil in the right application and change it when you should, using a good quality filter, that is much more important than throwing high dollar product at an application. I use the ST in everything I own from small engines to my every day vehicles. It's fine oil. WPP has been around since about 1922 and is a major marketer/blender for many house brands out there. This is an older video, but if you freeze it, you'll see all the brands that they package for: (6) Introduction to Warren Distribution - TH-cam

    Best test I have seen done on synthetic oil was done by Project Farm. It's worth checking the last round of his testing (championship round), because it has the summary of all of them. Super Tech, Amazon Basics, and Kirkland are basically the same oil, & the Project Farm guy uses these products in his own vehicles. I used a good quality oil filter with Super Tech Full Synthetic oil, & I change them out every 5,000 miles. For decades, I use cheap filters with conventional Super Tech oil changed every 3,000 miles without issue. Some of the new 0W-20 engine requirements make you go with a full synthetic oil. So I go a little longer between oil changes and use a better oil filter now. The two maintenance schedules for one of my vehicles is 3,750 miles or 7,500 miles, & I split that difference. My other vehicle doesn't get used much, & I just change the oil/filter once a year regardless of the low mileage put on it. After checking out Project Farm's extensive testing, I see no reason to pay extra for synthetic oil. Super Tech Full Synthetic is cheaper than many conventional oils.

    Been using it in my 07 chevy. Happy so far. 10w30 when i can find it. Don't think they make 10w40😢. Synthetic is great but always get the best filter you can find. Filtration is key.

    Meanwhile in Canada, we only have conventional and full synthetic SuperTech oil. No high mileage conventional/synthetic and no SuperTech oil filters as well. At least we have 0w20 available since a few months. Very good deal at 17.47$ CAD for 5 liters jug of full synthetic.

    • @Jonerod
      @Jonerod 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea it’s practically a steal at that price!

      Yeah haha. We dont have SuperTech motorcycle/atv oil neither. Available only in quart bottle or smaller, we have: SAE 30 lawn mower oil, regular 2 stroke oil and 2 stroke outboard (boat) oil (only conventional), Type F, Dexron 3 and Dexron 6 ATF, power steering fluid, DOT 3 brake fluid, 80w90 gear oil (no 75w90 synthetic available), gas line antifreeze and fuel stabilizer. Available in gallon/5 liters : Windshield washer (summer, -35°C and -40°C), 15w40 diesel/heavy duty oil, chainsaw oil (available in quart bottle too I think) and water line antifreeze (pink stuff). Available in 5 gallon (18.9 liters): SAE 30,15w40, hydraulic tractor fluid, hydraulic fluid ISO32/46/68, Dexron 3 ATF, 80w90 gear oil, 5w30 and 10w30 conventional oil. For conventional motor oil we do have, 20w50 and 10w40 only available in quart bottle. 10w30, 5w30 and 5w20 is available in quart/5 liters jug. For full synthetic we have (all available in quart/5 liters jug): 5w40 european formula (Canada exclusive), 5w30, 5w20 (no certified Dexos1 Gen2 like the american ones) and 0w20 (5w30/0w20 is Dexos1 Gen2 certified) Conventional oil price: 3.97$ for quart and 13.74$ for 5 liters jug. Full synthetic oil price: 5.97$ for quart and 17.47$ for 5 liters jug. (Sometimes in sale at 14.97$ or 14.47$😱) I might forgot a few things but that's pretty much about what we have in our canadians walmart with the SuperTech brand lol.
