I used to shoot a 6x7 and 67 MLU (like yours) and they are not trouble free. In your case, it sounds like a dead/faulty battery. Sometimes, these gather dust in the shop before you buy them, so it's near empty when you start using them. Get a fresh one, and cross your fingers. If that doesn't help, getting it fixed is probably still cheaper than buying a new one!
That is a heck of a thumbnail. I thought it was a normal sized SLR and that you were tiny. (but for real, sorry for your loss)

Man that's gotta hurt. Idk if this is apt in your situation but did you try pressing the shutter release during or after pressing the mirror release? Try it at higher shutter speeds and nowhere near bulb mode. I'm pretty new to photography so it may not apply or may be obvious idk. Best of luck I hope you get it figured out and nothing is busted.
