One difference between the Eradicator brick and the Hellblaster squad you were talking about is that the Hellblasters essentially kill the same things as DWKs or ICCs, whereas Eradicators solve the problem of what to do against -1 damage or half-damage units. Hellblasters suck into those units, but Eradicators don't suffer as much. Plus Eradicators do Overwatch against vehicles and monsters REALLY well.

Captain redeploy was updated: it is for any infantry unit, not just phobos. Maybe some niche use in Vanguard to Infiltrate a unit aggressively to push back enemy infiltrators and the redeploy for real.

Excellent podcast as always, though you still keep saying inceptors are a little expensive at 110, when they’re actually 130! Personally I think dwk went up too much. For a unit with no ranged, 5” move, no grenades and less than stellar melee output than can be easily countered by avoiding then or by using ignore modifiers, they’re now very expensive. Got an RTT next weekend, going to try a list with only 1 unit, the Lion and double ICC to see how that works. I also have an Ironstorm list I want to try, but that will have to wait for another RTT! Speaking of which the alpha legion list went 1-1-1, was funny deploying 2/3rds of the army by infiltrating and was a bit of a low pressure laugh after the pressure of the LGT. Would love to come to Hawaii, maybe if they do it again and they give 12 months notice I might be able to organise something!

Love the list comparison spreadsheet, worked really well. Won't be possible next time as some other detachments started getting some results! Great video, though I did skip the SM2 bit in the middle, not really my bag. Not got a GT for some time now, just some RTTs and I always take more daft lists to those, I'm going to try a CSM Alpha Legion list since I've seen no-one else running that ever! By your next video we'll also have the MFM, so will be interesting to see if any points change, as I write this its due in days or weeks.

I reserve my Lancer most games to be fair, its hard to deploy, and with its crazy range you just bring it on in the rear and kill something! Some interesting lists at LGT, the best was 5-1 with Stormlance! An ICTF went 3-2 as did I, but I did play Vik Vijay :)

Regarding Deathwing Knights, I think it's legit worth it to take at least 1 squad with swords. Not everything that needs to die is a monster or vehicle, and in those circumstances having the extra attack is definitely nice. I had 3 sword DWKs chew up a 10-man Rubric Squad led by Ahriman at an RTT on Saturday, leaving just the Aspiring Sorcerer and Ahriman to be finished off by Azrael (got them with a grenade and Lion's Wrath). If you do have to put them into a monster or vehicle, the Honor The Chapter strat will boost their wound rolls to 4+ against anything short of Land Raider-toughness targets. For my hobby challenge this month, I'm putting together a set of terrain I bought from Type Zero Trading. I got their deluxe Sancta Terra Ruins set, and I'm caught up enough with my Dark Angels that I don't mind devoting some time to the project. I want to have a set of 10th ed optimized terrain on hand. I have a fair bit I scratch-built, but it's more optimized for 8th and 9th edition.

Another great vid as always. I've tried gladius once now at a throne of skulls highlander where I went 4-1 (my loss to a BT player who went 5-0 and was very close). Got one practice game Sunday, then its the LGT!

FYI, twice you said Inceptors are 110pts, they're actually 130pts. Thats why you see them less these days.

Sad to say I've dropped ICTF, got my worst ever GT results using it - its just not got the tricks that gladius has. However, I'm still making a list that works for me, rather than copy/pasting someone elses. Currently trying the Eradicator/Biolgus brick over hellblasters, more for the change than anything else. My next big tournament will be the LGT, so will be baptism of fire!

Funnily enough I did run 2 dwk bricks, one with a librarian and one with a captain. Both were great, but ultimately it’s the points cost for the benefit, I’ve moved to a 3rd dwk squad.

Thanks for the shout out! So I had the thought that maybe the reason we see a lot of lists that have 2 DWK squads with maces and 1 with swords is that there are players who had a 10-man squad of the old DWKs from before the squad size was nerfed, and then they assembled their Knights from the Deathwing Assault box with swords.

Going to disagree on the hellblasters thing, especially in ICTF where Azzy gives them Deathwing. Now that indirect is less of a thing they’re even better. The key is to start them in the board, not in a transport, then advance them to where needed. If people focus them down then fine, they shoot back and you’re not shooting my scoring unit. I’m fine with that. Azzy also provides that anti melee threat is positioned properly in the unit.

Just to explain, wtc scoring is not common in the UK at all. The ITT use it as they feel it’s the best way of scoring in a teams format and Glasshammer decided to use it for this tournament (with a slight tweak as Toby explained). Their reasoning was that it’s not good enough to make a list that can score 100, you also need to stop the opponent scoring as the final score is based on the difference in points, so to win the tournament you have to get big differential scores. Interesting idea, but not sure if it will take off here.

Great podcast! After Toby's comments on Hellblasters, I got curious to see how often they've popped up in the top performing DA lists. Over the first weekend of the Pariah Nexus meta, one of the lists that went 4-1 at Glasshammer had 20 Hellblasters in it, and last weekend a list that went 3-2 had 10. Certainly, DWKs and ICCs appeared in more of the high performing lists.

So glad I found this, I'm fairly new and really wish there was more DA content. I really think it is the faction for new players since almost everyone starts with space marines but don't want to be cliche and paint them blue. I do hate though, that every single battle report I've seen since pariah nexus they've lost (no idea why but it feels bad)

So did any other Dark Angels players find it off that the codex got rid of the strike master but put lore for him in the codex

Cool to find a podcast that talks about Dark Angels. I think the biggest problem, even with the changes, is finding units that can deal consistent damage while not having access to Vowed Targets or Oath Targets or Strat Combos. Consistency seems to be a real issue, and with Strikemasters and Talonmasters no longer being a thing and no clues if they'll return with solutions, this may remain an issue for some time. Awkwardly enough though, while the Deathwing has expanded to include more unit types than Terminators, the strats and enhancements still scream Terminators if you really want to maximize and open up your options. Which is unfortunate. They removed chunks of the Terminator character support and the Deathwing Command Squad, and replaced it with "Deathwing" units that don't utilize anything to the same level of efficiency as Terminators.....and Terminators as a whole are still in a rough spot in the game...... Also, Lazarus can't lead Devastators if I'm not mistaken. Plus the rerolls are locked to the fight phase with Martial Mastery. Would have been a nice touch, but Lazarus will have to continue looking for a "place". Looking forward to the next show.

Missed opportunity to make the Lion interact somehow with his "own circle" detachment. +1 to wound detachment rule would make him auto include almost.

Pivot rules are totally busted. Poorly written & abusable.

Unless there were some stat changes planed for the future , the companions are still worse then blade guard, because they have no inv save. Azrael can give it to them, but that limits it a one good unit of companions per army and Azrael can't join sonething else AND he has to do melee

Its impossible to rapid ingress turn 1 (actually, in Pariah Nexus it has become possible), but in Leviathan its impossible due to out-of-phase. The rule that allows you to come in a turn early is not an exception that RI makes allowance for. That said, WTC have some crazy house rules, so you might want to check their pack.

Why did you fall back from a canis rex when batleshocked? Just shoot him in melee right?

tank shock is capped at 6, then you'd save 3, so you should have lost 1.5.

The combi lt and 2 techmarines is a common thing, I used it in my ironstorm list. The combi-lt is generally in a better position for vehicles to fall back onto.

Cool to see the face behind the blog, PS thunderstrike doesn't buff itself. It when "its shot" so takes affect after all its guns have fired.

Glad to hear you guys had a good time at Adepticon. I tried the 2 stormraven ironstorm lists and it was strong, very strong, despite me having zero practice games. I ended up only going 3-2, but that was because I met a sisters army designed to kill this very list and a BT ironstorm list designed to win in the mirror. I did beat a very good and strong t'au list with a player who has thrashed me twice before, so it shows the strength of it. Not my play style though, I'm determined to make ICTF work, players have a 22% win rate at the time of writing this whereas mine is 60%!

Thanks for another great episode, as of writing this I'm playing around with lots of builds. The firestorm one was fun, but not great. Inner circle also seems fun, but not great. I might try the ironstorm double storm raven, triple redemptor, but I'm not one for copying other people's ideas. I also have a ravenwing idea with lots of aircraft... Genuinely I think outside of the ironstorm build DA will struggle and I worry that that build will artificially inflate DAs win rate.

I ran firestorm like Bailey did, but with Azreal and an Apoth with the enchancement. So sustained hits, invuln AND ignore all modifiers, with a bonus res. That was good, but they always got focused early every game! 10 infernus marines in a stormraven with a captain so you can use the free dev wound strat was also fun to use!

Bailey - aircraft don't get -1 to be hit anymore, that's 9th ed :) The only "benefit" of aircraft is infinite movement and can't be charged by non flyers. Heath says it later too, its why Nephilim has it on the datasheet.
