Do you only count protein minimum with only animal protein sources or whey protein sources I heard plant protein sources is not as good as other sources so what If you got like 15-20g from animal source but the other remaining 5-10g from potatoes or oatmeal do u add those to the protein synthesis minimum for the meal?
@@ronaldpaek That's a good question; if the protein source has a complete amino acid profile, that is ideal. However, as long as you are getting in about 1g per lb of goal bodyweight of protein from all sources each day total, you will be fine since the vast majority will be coming from the higher quality source, such as chicken, beef, turkey, etc

My watch shows my medium exertion road cardio heart rate at 150-165 some times, then the elliptical heart machine monitor will show 110/120. I know I'm going just as hard on the machine. Point is the devices are not correct .
@@rber1361 Exactly. If you're sweating, breathing heavily during the cardio session, that is a signal you're doing something right!

My question for q&a is regarding water if you are travelling by airplane to a contest, what should you do with water retention on the plane? Do you wear compression socks, walk on the flight etc

@@ronaldpaek I believe just under 29" is the lowest I've taped myself. Yep, always around the belly button For a constant measurement each week!

@@bludbruvbeats2104 not possible during contest prep. The target is to get in shape for the show during prep. During my building season after the show I'll work on improving.

Great video Ben, you’re looking absolutely shredded, I was hoping you bust that shirt off so we could see what you look like at resting probably still shredded, I do like cardio walking. I’ve almost got my 20,000 steps in today and I did a really good workout. Just keep grinding.

Why do you do white and wheat pasta? Can you eat more? If you do the wheat pasta? I’m gonna start doing the pasta. I just have to make sure it fits in my macros with the quantity, great video though.
It all comes down to my fiber intake. My fiber goal is 25-30g per day based on my caloric intake. If I reach that number having my oats, wheat pasta, fruits/veggies, etc, I will put in a low-fiber carb like white pasta or white rice. I find if I keep having more and more fiber (north of 40g a day) I just feel bloated and it messes with my digestion.

Hey Ben, I’m pretty sure under that shirt. You probably have a six pack and are pretty shredded, honestly people like when you do stuff without a shirt on especially if you’re shredded it would probably get you more followers JS I noticed a lot of other fitness TH-camrs do that

No eggs or egg whites?
Lately I've been having protein oatmeal most mornings which requires oats, protein powder, greek yogurt, berries and almonds. If I want to switch it up I will pick up some eggs & egg whites as well.

How many of those meals do you eat per day and what is the calories?
If you're referring to the lunch I was making at 13:00 into the video, the caloric total will vary on the serving of each ingredient used. That is typically my lunch and supper is similar, so I usually it's a meal I'll have twice a day. 3-5 ingredients for a meal is always my approach to track everything very accurately and stay on my goals. I have been enjoying your uploads, really appreciate what you do. Maybe I missed the reasoning somewhere, but why do you cook white pasta and then whole wheat pasta? Is it the differing tastes or is there some macro differences?
Thanks Joel! Good question. I use wheat & white pasta and adjust serving sizes due to my overall fiber intake for the day. When calories are lower, I have mostly wheat pasta. When I'm in my offseason and calories are high (closer to 3,000), I want to keep my fiber in the 35ish gram range. If all I had was wheat pasta, I would be well over 50g a day, and that effects my digestion.
I disagree, and new studies too. Be mora active overall with 10k steps daily is more effective and it came with a lot of bonus as live more, prevent the most commons health problems that causes death (Diabetes, heart problems, obesity, depression and cancer). I walk 30min at morning, 15min after lunch and 15min eod when I close my laptop. My mental health is 100% better, i’m sleeping like a baby and when I have more active days like traveling or camping I don’t feel tired anymore or back pain. I splinted my Gym to do daily 20-30min max and it was game change to maintain consistency. I can include another cardio if it is a sport that I really like to do, and it can be anything.

@@jennifershyn7541 Steps are great for the psychological benefit of getting outside for some fresh air, and the cardio session checks the box for the cardio work in case you have a day where you're unable to hit a certain step count target
@@ProPhysiqueCoachBen not all steps are created equally. Hard steps like running or hiit are great
New studies agree with you and disagree with this video opinion.
My brother does no cardio and is very lean, but his daily step count because of his job is high: 10K - 16K, so for fat loss he doesn't need cardio, but for heart health he may need to challenge himself with cardio once in a while. I have a desk job so to make sure I get in enough steps in my day I do cardio to reach my goal easier whether it's long walks, runs or dance classes. Depends on what matters to people. The older you get, health is wealth. My brother is 50 and very built and lean, I'm almost 45 and in decent shape and have had 2 kids, I've competed in figure competitions, then switched to fitness comps, so I have a good idea of what it takes to get into stage ready shape. In the end it's achievable to get lean through daily step count, cardio in itself isn't the only way to get there, and I know plenty of people who never needed cardio to get stage ready (because of non exercise activity) but to improve heart and lungs and overall health, adding cardio to your regime is a good idea.

How do you get over weight insecurity. I wanna cut down and get lean,but if I do, I will be small as I'm a shorter dude. I currently weight 180 pounds
@@Ignacyjablonski12 Don't be so much worried about the number on the scale, it's more of a look you're going for if the goal is to get shredded. If you're very lean, have good definition/symmetry and pose well on stage, you will do well. I had a similar starting place as yourself as I weighed around 185 competing in powerlifting before cutting down. After a cut, you could always go through a building phase to put on some more muscle as well
