      The ri3d does not own one but we built this robot in the Purdue Bechtel innovation design center which has a lot of stuff including multiple different kinds of CNCs, laser cutters, and a 5-axis water jet. The hooks are 1/8 steel cut on a laser cutter in Bechtel. - Joey

      These hooks work the best from what we have tested and are quick drop-in replacements for AndyMark climber-in-a-box hook kits. Some changes that I will be fixing in the CAD soon is to add a centering mechanism on the hooks to try to center the robot on the chain. - Joey

      The orange thing is a belt that allows one motor to drive two smaller rollers, which control the note while it is inside the shooter and pushes it forward into the flywheels when shooting. Ri3D or (Robot in 3 days) is a challenge that some groups of mostly colleges and/or mentors build the First FRC challenge in 3 days. This challenge is for high school students to compete but they have 1.5 months to prototype, design, and assemble the robot. This year the challenge is called Crescendo where the team has to score the foam orange rings into a goal that is over 6 feet in the air and at the end of the game they can earn more points by climbing the chain. You can learn more by looking up "frc crescendo" and watching the game video. - Joey

      it's a robot built in 72 hours for the 2024 first robotics competition, whose game rules came out about 3 days ago, they slapped this stuff together in that amount of time. Usually teams have 1.5 months to build something like this, they did it in 3 days

  • @bijtah
    @bijtah 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Do you know what material the back of the amp is made out of? I noticed that you used cardboard, while a lot of other teams are using wood. I think that will greatly affect the bounciness of the note in the amp

    • @PurdueRobotIn3Days
      @PurdueRobotIn3Days 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Off the top of my head, I believe it is 1/4 in polycarbonate panels. Either way, it still will be way stiffer than cardboard but we had to use what we had on hand. If we saw it bounced too much while testing different intakes we knew it would not work. - Joey

      Thank you for the feedback, we as a first-year and student-run organization built this robot in less than 3 days and in that time we had to prototype, design, and build the robot with the parts we had on hand. We also had to make a lot of the steel and aluminum parts with hand tools due to a lack of good power tools like a drill press that is less accurate than a hand drill and only had 2 drills that do not like to drill. We are trying to get more funding for next year to be able to buy more quality tools. - Joey

      It can drive but we did not want to drive it for the climb test because one of the controllers had very bad stick drift and the deadband was not coded yet. The drivetrain would just always slowly drive to the left, so just unplugged the control for safety. - Joey

    • @AnonymousGamer-rr4xm
      @AnonymousGamer-rr4xm 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      bruh pneumatics would require a whole entire pneumatic system with a compressor and air tank for storage because teams need to climb in the last 15 seconds of the match

    • @northernfabricationllc2281
      @northernfabricationllc2281 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Negative. You apparently dont know much about them. All you need is a small compressor, two cylinders and lines connecting to a control. A tank isn't neccessary for what would be needed to to do what their doing. People like these kids are always over complicating things with a lot of neccessary stuff. You honestly think this debacle they constructed is simpler than a pneumatic system?? Wow...

      @@northernfabricationllc2281 I admit I haven't worked with them, but you apparently don't know much about the meta This is two telescoping arms on a winch, it's fairly simple and standard in FRC, you see it everywhere. What you see here I've seen a hundred times, but I've never seen a pneumatic climb. I wonder why. Besides, the arms weren't painstakingly designed by them, it's a ready-made kit that anyone can get online. Is the actual thing more complicated than pneumatics? Yeah, but the complications of designing it wasn't on their shoulders. It would be much easier to obtain a pre-machined kit that has been tried and true for this exact purpose rather than designing a pneumatic system themselves

    • @fnndhshsbxnf
      @fnndhshsbxnf 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@northernfabricationllc2281You clearly have no idea what you’re talking about. This is a robot for the FIRST robotics competition. If you knew anything about FRC you would know that pneumatics are more trouble than they’re worth, especially when the same thing can be accomplished with motors and telescoping arms like shown here. Pneumatics are WAY more complicated to set up and work with, especially with FRC’s requirements for pneumatic systems.

    • @tornop1
      @tornop1 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The telescoping climber tubes are actuated out by constant force springs on each stage, pulling each tube out, and a cord attached to the final stage gets pulled in by a pulley on the toughbox gearbox mentioned in the video. Examples of a COTS version include TTB-TUBE-BASE from The Thrifty Bot (seen in the video), or am-4668 from AndyMark.
