USAF Combat Systems Officer T-6 Graduation Video
A video from an Undergraduate Combat Systems Officer Training (UCT) T-6 graduation. The theme was "The Dundees" from the show "The Office" - held at Chili's in Pensacola. This is some of the cool shit we did while in Primary.
Our Primary phase of UCT is modeled exactly like the Primary phase of Undergraduate Pilot Training (UPT), with a scaled back number of sorties, and you navigate in the back seat.

-UCT is a flight training program with the US Air Force that replaced the Undergraduate Navigator Training in 2009. It stood up and graduated it's first group of "CSOs" in 2011. Aviators in this program can go to many C-130 variants (AC-130, HC-130, EC-130, etc), F-15E, B-1B, B-52H, RC-135, E-8, E-3, any many more aircraft.

The United States Air Force Combat Systems Officer Career
มุมมอง 82K11 ปีที่แล้ว
What is a Combat Systems Officer? I created this video in 2010 to explain what the "CSO" (pronounced cizzo) career field is. Mind you, some of the video is outdated: we do not go to ASBC anymore. But I hope that this can help for people who are thinking about this career, students in OTS/USAFA/AFROTC who just got this AFSC, or for current CSOs to show their family the stuff they did/are doing w...
USAF Combat Systems Officer Hitler rant

US Air Force Air and Space Basic Course - 11A1
มุมมอง 6K14 ปีที่แล้ว
The Air and Space Basic Course (ASBC) is first of many Professional Military Education (PME) courses for the Air Force Officer track. Condensing what was learned at the three active duty commissioning sources (OTS, AFROTC, USAFA), the Airman apply the leadership concepts taught on a much more theoretical and applicable setting. This course was developed to instill the core values for each newly...

United States Air Force, Officer Training School, BOT Class 10-07, Squadron 2, HOYAS, Flight 2-11. June 8th, 2010 - September 3rd, 2010. Thanks for the great memories everyone. ENJOY! -Adrian This is the culmination video of some of the events that happened at the United States Air Force Officer Training School. My goal is to become a WSO on fighterjets ! I think that's a really cool job where i will be verry happy and proud to wake up every morning and go to work ! I will do all i can do to achieve my goal and with hardwork and dedication nothing it's impossible so let's do this :) !
Damn, if I was younger, I would love to do this! I'm a retired Army Engineer officer.
Very helpful
omg this is rough
What this all boils down to is people that couldn't make it through pilot school, flunked out of pilot training, or don't qualify for other reasons.
@reverse thrust Well considering the fact I am an electrical engineer I could design a tank circuit.
Pretty much like Flight Officers/NFO in the Navy (and Marines, too)
Question for any CSO out on TH-cam: What motivates someone to be CSO over being a pilot? It seems like you'd have to have a passion for aviation and probably thought of being a pilot growing up. But it seems like this path really limits your civilian options when you get out. Why be a CSO over pilot? Is CSO is an easier slot to get? I'm an Army Guard MP officer so I have no dog in this fight, but I just want to understand why someone would get in this career field but not be a pilot.
Pilot is "only" doing the piloting job. CSOs are mission commanders. It is a more strategic job vs. a pilot job, which focus on short-term maneuvers. A CSO can develop impressive organizational and management skills that can be useful in a civilian job.
CSO's tend to be pilot recruits who didn't complete pilot training or people who want to fly but don't have the aptitude to be pilots.
Do you need to be hella good at math to be commissioned as a CSO?
helps. thanks a lot
no.
No I'm a Criminal Justice major. Sooooo...... no
As a CSO can you choose what aircraft you get assigned to? Or is there a ranking process in school? I can't find much on this topic lol I'd love to be a bomber CSO
As a CSO in training, you put in a dream sheet for the airframes you want. They (The Air Force) choose you an airframe based on your class ranking and the needs of the Air Force. B-52's drop regularly and B-1s are very competitive. If you eventually go through CSO training, be the best you can be to increase your chances of getting the airframe you want. I am currently here in Pcola in training.
Natehanibal Thank you for the information! So are all the fighter frames pretty competitive too? I'm just hoping if I go for CSO to get one of the two frames haha but like you said it's all about performance! Good luck in your training man!
you can choose in the Air National Guard.
Clarification please. At 11:42, Capt Jen Cook flies with a pilot or does she pilot the the aircraft as well?
In the F-15E, the CSO's cockpit does have basic flight controls such as the stick and throttles, so Capt Cook can theoretically fly the jet. However, her role as a CSO is to operate the weapon systems. aviation.stackexchange.com/questions/23628/f15-e-pilot-incapacitated-can-the-wso-take-over
Is this common? because AF pilots never ask for CSO's
Any idea how this career field can translate into the civilian world after your service?
Mainly through your leadership skills you acquire as an officer and an aircraft commander
Is that Rage Against the Machine I hear in the background?
Yessir. That sounds like their song "Sleep Now in The Fire" (I know this is a really old comment, but for other people's interest)
"DOSS" Oh Alber"TOSS", Do TOSS the Ball To THEM All, After-all, It's not at the Mall, But the Banquet Hall: USAFIO's "Vocatio": An "Invitation to Dinner" To be a Winner And cleanse the Sinner! I'm waiting to be a CSO in the French Air Force (we called that "NOSA" over here). Already passed the tests, now waiting for the decision of the recruitment board :) I'm looking forward to start my training !
Good luck!
Awesome job man! Did you make it?
Why do ALL U.S. Officers regardless of Service talk like Robots ?
Haha, I think it's because they're reading a script.
+Roy C Horton I just want to know why they have to play the God-awful music in the breaks!
Hey man, they suited up and are ready to defend you "ground pounder ass".
EvergreenFlash Air power ;)
Because they can easily get in trouble at all times. If they talk out of place it’s not uncommon to get dishonorably discharged
11:22, JStars " World's premier C2ISR Platform" LMAO.
lol i caught that too. He must be drunk.
Are the CSO graduates actually rated pilots? Sure seems like lots of sim and actual stick time. Sounds good. Oh, does the USAF still have traditional Nav. training?
Bbendfender Did you watch the video? Cause it's in there...
Nav is a CSO and yes, they are rated
+Old glory CSOs are not rated pilots. They do not manipulate the controls and their experience does not translate over to to the civilian world as far as getting a pilot certificate. With a couple rare exceptions of CSO, WSO and NFO's actually having a civilian rating that they obtained outside of the military and having access to the flight controls inside the aircraft, they cannot log flight time which counts towards any FAA requirements.
Caleb DeMarco WSOs are CSOs. They are rated and get flight pay. Also, the F-15E has controls in the back
Being rated as a WSO doesn't mean you're a pilot. Getting flight pay doesn't either. Lol
randomly came across this video, I went on a tdy with swatek, cool guy.
This was a good transition as day and night cell training went away. This was me 35 years ago as I started Nav training at Mather AFB, CA and became a NAV/EWO. Best secret...RC-135!
Don't entirely understand what's going on here, but this makes me not want to be a CSO anymore
So true man, I love this!
I hate that trainees yell at trainees...
Thank you for making this video. My son will be graduating from this program in 3 months.
Congratulations, Kevin!!!! Like father like son he must be - just like dad...in full integrate....
This is my 14yr old son's dream. He will be 15 on August 3rd & going into 10th grade this coming 2020 - 2021 school year. We moved from our home state, PA, to the south and there is no JROTC program at his high school. Congratulations to all those who graduated and will be soon. Thank you to ALL members of the military for your service and continuation of your services. #AimHigh #FlyFightWin #USAF
PREACH! Thank you!!!
The two sentences you just said had nothing to do with each other what so ever. Just because someone is "smart" in a sense, doesn't mean they are going to be in the Air Force. The air force does require much more training and studying to become an officer.
no.. if u are going to be in the military you need to be fit. i dont care if ur air force navy marine army. u are in the military you need to be fit. you better get fit or you will suck as an officer.
no... LOL.. ROTC commissions officers. OTS commissions officers. you will already be an officer after ROTC. you dont need OTS
You forgot the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy as a commission source for this designation.
they are naval aviator, this is Air Force
Why are you replying to your own comment? lol
Can you attend OTS after AFROTC?
I'm thinking about joining the officer training school. Got a 4 year degree in computer science and and it's doing nothing for me. My girlfriend was also talking about enlisting but she was going to go active duty I think. I'm not really the physical type but I can do basic workouts. Will that be enough for officer trianing school based on anyones experience?
I am going to hopefully be there in 3 more years. I run and am in pretty decent shape but I was just wondering how much PT you guys had to do throughout OTS.
Just graduated from 13-04 (was in flight 2-13) and it's pretty much the same stuff! Oh and Major General Kevin is still around. lol
Con este video, me mostraron lo importante que es estar alegre a pesar de las circunstancias! NO TODO ES GUERRA... Excente VIDEO (Y)
i hope to change that.
ive noticed that most of the songs on AF vids are gay.
Do you think this would be something good for a thirty year old. Or will it suck because there older surrounded by youngsters with experience
can somebody tell me what was the first song
We're all on the same team here people stop bashing on different branches, everyone plays their important roles in one way or another!!!
I am a Met major, and never knew that this was a possibility!!! Thanks for the video!!
stupid asshole air force
What If you do not do good in the obstacle course, and say you can not complete one of the objectives, can you still graduate. (although I hope this will not be a situation for anybody)
I know OTS is a lot harder than this video makes it look, right?
She's not a drill instructor. It's more embarrassing than that. She's a trainee just like the ones she's yelling at, except she's been there for about 4-5 weeks. Of course, she has to act like that, but I'm sure everyone involved feels goofy about the situation. I know it'll feel weird for me when I'm there in September!
I am also applying for CSO and this video was very informative, thank you for posting it
Thanks for putting this on here. I'm going to be sending this link to my family and friends. Your video gives an awesome explanation of the CSO career field.
How difficult is it to get into OTS with an engineering degree (hoping to maintain a 3.4-3.6gpa) and a lot of leadership positions on the resume'? I still have 2 years left until i graduate, but I want to do all I can to be competitive for a spot now (my campus doesn't have AFROTC)
hey, can you tell me if to get into the officer school you must to be graduated from a college in the united states?
I guess that goofy shit at 8:45 is what the Hoyas do while the Tigers are out running their asses off.
Many of these people will go into another branch of training. One thats way harder than the marine corps. Everyone thinks marines are the biggest baddest guys, but in reality, theyre not really the complete best. Theres always someone better.
