This the late 1950’s when Jazz was hatching out of the egg shell of the traditional,if you listen to Donald Byrd you can hear echoes of early Dizzy,that virtuoso style of the trumpet,and Trane just ripped the tune apart with the mad tenor have no pity personor,and Art Taylor with jet speed grease lightening cymbals,and Miles grab some of the members of this group and Cannonball Philly Joe,and stretches it to another horizon into the 60’s,such masterful art work that goes unnoticed.

The whole album is anodyne. No Boldness as he showed with Miles in Dr. Jackle, On Dolphin’s Street, Love for Sale, or in Cattin', Sunday, or Anatomy with Quinichette. It was his opera prima. In Blue Train he regained his boldness.

Love this tune... an under-appreciated early classic in my opinion. Coltranes whole solo is spectacular but the way he opens up on this minor blues in his first chorus is really breathtaking
