It's crazy they used footage of Venus when Dorian says that fem girls were safe. She passed while this was being filmed.

I feel such an awakening and attentiveness internally when as soon as I hear her voice and the entire time i hear her speaking. I've never been acquainted to any drag queens or any part of that scene but I've felt this same internal feeling even i discovered this amazing part of herstory and it's unexplainable but i have an intense live for each and every one of these beautiful souls

6:44 they say some homosexuals have tiny wrists and feminine hands do to a lack of androgen exposure in utero. I believe it. It’s an innate femininity of the spirit which translates into physical body also. Lack of testosterone in utero. Love Dorian! ❤

Last night my Uber driver was telling me stories about being in a band in the 70s, and his band used to get booked with drag queens in NYC a lot, even though all the band members were straight. He was reminiscing about one particular drag queen he got to know pretty well. Long story short, it turned out he was talking about the one and only Dorian Corey 😲 He was shocked that I knew who she was, I don't think he has any clue how famous she is, and that he's connected to a piece of queer history. It was so cool to hear more about her from someone who actually knew her ❤

The sweet, sad irony to this is that Dorian left a HUGE mark on the world. She is the heroine of legend, a beacon of light and hope for all trans women, and queer people in general. If only she could know the impact she's made. RIP ❤

The LGBT+ community has stepped so very far away from these ideals... Its really sad to see the state of things today. That's what makes this video so powerful and viscerally thought provoking. RIP Ms Corey. The legend lives always.

This entire "Paris is Burning" way of life is so NEGATIVE. All of the principals portrayed are now dead--or may as well be because they used no practical path to move forward with their lives. I came along in the mid-70's and saw all of the drag queens in Boston and New York and knew that was not a path I wanted to follow. Still, I recall being 18, at a Boston pub in the 70's, and having "Jane" (a 40-ish drag queen) come sit on my lap and tell me stories. She sounded a bit like Dorian. A very good story-teller. Clarified many bits I had heard about Stonewall and the social conditions between "gays". She moved me to get out there and take in the remnants of the "gay" existence before Stonewall. I could still directly experience the locations and conditions I had read about in books and novels regaling cruising and night-life. I visited the Christopher Street Bath-house, the pubs of New York, the piers and warehouse district near Greenwich Village, with its heavy cruising (and a good chance to get knifed and robbed). Am glad I did it. Many of the authors of "gay" books and stories were still alive and still out there cruising an "being gay", in the same settings they wrote about. All of which are NOW long gone. After seeing and tasting a little of life before "gay rights", when "gays" had everything to lose, the era of the "gay houses" and "balls" loses significance.

Dorian is a murder. She shouldn't be praised. Even on her deathbed she didn't tell anyone about the body in the closet. She took it to her grave. Sad.

People Matter so much more when they’re dead than when their alive. When alive, they don’t get all the titles until they die. Then it’s an “icon” or “legend” even though they did all those things when they were alive and not one appreciated it until they died. Your importance is only spoken of once you die and the ones who need to hear it most never get to hear it because they’re gone
