I disagree on your remake aspect. The Vagrant Story-like combat system was a part of Parasite Eve's Identity. Besides, they tried it with PE2, the result was mixed.

I would rather have a remaster like how the Tomb Raider 1-3 and Soul Reaver 1 & 2 did recently, I'm not opposed to another company remastering both games. The way you described a remake not only sounds like the Final Fantasy VII remakes, but it also sounds like The 3rd Birthday, I don't think anybody wants that to happen again.

97% of modern gamers have never even heard of this game. Obvious remake is going to be needed for this franchise if it's to return. Much of the millenial age of gaming is at risk of being lost to memory. The market population exploded during the late 2000s, and many of these players don't look back. I just went to a local fighting game tournament featuring Smash and Street Fighter 6, and nobody there had ever even heard of Tekken. A game like Parasite Eve isn't even a seed in their mind.

Parasite Eve 1 should be left alone. It's perfect by itself. It's an easily accessible Playstation Classic now. Parasite Eve 2, I believe should be remastered. I personally don't like its game feel after coming from Parasite Eve 1 (e.g. Going back to hard Tank Controls when PE1 was fully analog baffles me). Too many menus for me. I prefer that it follow the way Third Birthday plays. ...The less talk about Third Birthday the better. I have a biased attachment to the game and I will never be in a good state to argue about it. All I can say is that it feels great for me to play and I'm on my 5th replay trying to unlock and complete challenges. Before my PSVita falls apart from the brutality lol

Square lost the PE license after PE2, they had a falling out with the novels author. They barely held the rights to keep first and second games distribution. Why did you think 3rd Birthday had no Parasite Eve in the title? So this will not happen.

Make it play like the original game, but make it look like the prerendered cutscenes from Third Birthday. Don't let them alter the story, or they'll make it all Kingdom Heartsy.

Also, if you're hungry for something Parasite Eve-esque, I recommend checking out the series, Fringe. Certainly not a one-to-one recreation, but a blonde cop in NYC with lotsa weird sciencey things happening... oh yeah, that's the stuff.

This is my favorite game! I'm fine with a remake, but the original needs to be made available like the Final Fantasy remasters. Hopefully we're getting there.

I'm a firm believer In a middle ground between a remaster and a remake ( i call it half Remake 😅) like what we got with crash and spyro trilogy i think this is the best approach imo to masterpiece like parasite eve but unfortunately Square definitely won't go to this direction

Don't think anyone's mentioned this but I think PE remaster or remake discussion is moot,since the PE verse isn't an original IP for SE. So any kind of remake/remaster wouldn't be on the table unless they somehow managed to get permission for the rights which isn't likely.

I love PE. Still own my PS1 copy from childhood. I'd like to see a remake since I enjoy FF7R too. and Aya is cute (>^_^)>

Wow people are finally talking about a PE remaster/remake?? I love it. It's easily one of my all-time favorite games. I'd love it if Square returned to this series, bc it is one of their best concepts. PE2 is gold also. Dryfield forever!
