B&O Alco S2 No. 9115 starting for the first time in 15 years
For the first time in about 15 years, West Chester Railroad fired up their Alco S2, B&O No. 9115.
It took about 2 minutes of combined cranking until she fired, but I only included the parts where she starts and idles. A few of these clips were taken by WCRR volunteer Ashton Krug.

Boy she’s high balling !!
Can you request to ride in the cab ? Or what do you do to get a ride in the engine
Wonderful to see one still operating!
Like 42❤ Greetings from Leipzig germany 🇩🇪
Wish the Wilmington and Western will eventually do the caboose charters again in the future!
@@brianfalzon6739 we still offer caboose charters as we always have
@@wwrr98 great
What year was this???
This Is Exellent!
Awesome video!
One of these days someone will write a book on how the heck the drivers know how to sound the whistle that way which is spine tingling! It's such a basic "wooden flute" sound but the gradations they get on it is super!!😂❤❤
Good ol 98, ain't she a beauty
425: I’ll be back!
Nice catch i was on 1804 in butler new jersey back in the early 90 on nysw
1802 nysw is a gp 18 lolo ty for sharing
I think your 2 videos of 8408 are the only ones with its original Leslie s5t
3:24 best part
When SEPTA decides to return its Media-Wawa line back, into West Chester, and SEPTA decides not to share with West Chester Railroad, SEPTA can give the Wawa-Chads Ford segment of the Octoraro branch to the West Chester Railroad...
God it even sounds old!!! Lovely
Nice video! I have two questions to ask. 1. Do you own the rights to this footage? 2. Can I use this video in a travel series episode that I am making on the Southeastern Railway Museum? I would give you all the proper credits in the episode.
Sounds like she's wearing A B&O Whistle
I think it’s her factory whistle. Sounds amazing fully blown
They don't have non raised letter versions of these. If I had a K3LLB (or K3LP), I would rearrange the bells like the Leslie RS3L and reverse the 3B. The 1L is 25, 1 is 31, and 3B is 44.
How about more?
This looks like the locomotive that was at the Minerva Scenic Railroad years ago. They traded it off before I got to operate it.
It was probably an S1, S2, S3, or S4 than. This one went to an industry in Bensalem after B&O in the late 70s, Wilmington & Western from mid 80s to mid 90s, spent some time on the Delaware Valley railroad, and has been at West Chester for over 25 years.
I knew that Alco diesels had crankshafts and turbocharging but I also never knew that they had a belt on their prime mover as well that’s pretty cool
The belts are for the cooling fans
@@wwrr98 very cool I’m curious to ask if this engine will be staying at the West Chester Railroad or will it be going to a new home I’m glad they were able to fix the damage caused by the teenager vandals
Nice to see a retired ALCO unit up and running again. Baltimore & Ohio has an excellent blue-and-yellow color mix for liveries. Very cool footage!
How many times did 98 wheelslilp in this video from 1996?
Have you ever heard of Canadian Pacific number 972 I think it would be a perfect for Wilmington and Western
1:21 oh this gives me a reminder of 587s crack whistle
Awesome sounding horn! One of my absolute favorites. Along with the wabco aa2 horns.
This was my favorite shot
Sounds like 4449’s air horn.
The W&W should do caboose excursion charters in the future.
B23-7s??
B30-7's
Do those signals work? 👍
yea nice video of this easter train with the 2 steamers
great video and shots on this rant day with 89
Hi. Could I get your permission to use a few clips from this video for an upcoming project on the Octoraro? I need some coverage of #3 I freight service. Thanks.
Poor Uboat is in Mexico now. 😢
This things have souls. I love it
any idea where this line ends once it goes past coatesville ? i was looing at a map and the tracs stop near lae kurtz near wagontown. i now the line used to go up to reading
That is where the line currently terminates, only about a mile North of the old Pennsy viaduct
With and rs3l horn
It sounds like rs3l
Why does her whistle sound so rough 😬
Amazing videos, as always! Keep them coming!
Classic "honker".
I must agree Steve you got an awesome sounding horn there on 8408. I kinda wish that could stay on the locomotive for one whole year and then the following year switch to another horn of your choice. Merry Christmas to you.
Personally I prefer the Logger 3 Chime. Something about it's notes hit different
