Herbie, who was mentioning the "Touch" of Bill Evans is spot on. All of us know that sound because we've listened for 50 years. The highlight for me was reading what Glenn Gould, the world famous Canadian interpreter of Bach said which was: " Bill Evans was the only Jazz pianist he'd heard who knew how to extract the proper tone from a Grand Piano." That was on the liner notes on one of Bill's LP's.

Bob Albery My father was a jazz musician, so I listened to Oscar Peterson, Andre Previn, and Errol Garner. Errol was my father's favorite and he would play like him including all the grunts.I moved on to other musicians and discovered Miles, my first album was Kind of Blue.I purchased most of his albums when I moved to Toronto, Ontario to go to The Ontario College of Art. I spent a lot of my time at Sam the Record Man and went to the second floor which was the Jazz Section. That was when I started to amass my collection of Jazz records. I finally had about 4,000 vinal records b then DVDs came out so I bought hundreds of them. I saw Miles at the Colonial Tavern in Toronto as well as Dizzy. Miles was a genius but cold and played with his back to the audience while Dizzy was more of a showman he even sat with us at our table between sets. Sadly I sold off my vinal records when we downsized to our condo apartment. There just was not enough room for them. i can call up all my albums on TH-cam today. I always listen to Jazz to this day my wife has even listened along with me. I hoped she would stop listening to Country an Western but sadly she always has a Country and Western radio station tuned in on the car radio. This is s great documentry.

People forget that Bill Cosby is a jazz drummer and in his prime, he battled Max Roach. And apparently, it was recorded and lives in his vault. Hope he releases it one day!

My parents purchased this album in 1960, I turned 9 years old at the beginning of the school year. My elementary school had music lessons, my instrument of choice was the trumpet. I had heard Lee Morgan on Jimmy Smith's "The Sermon," and now the cool sound of Miles Davis, I was hooked. It is Monday 13 March 2023 and Kind of Blue sounds as fresh today as it did when it was recorded. Very few recordings have that infinite effect, I place Horace Silver's "Song for My Father" in that category, along with Trane's "Giant Steps and A Love Supreme," and Dave Brubeck's "Time Out." These are just a few albums from the Post Bop era that are timeless, yet this is a personal opinion.

Delete the Cosby spots

I don't know how many hours, days or month we digged this record when it came out. I remember how long time it took us, five yongsters, to find out what really was going on, but at last we find out that using modes was completely new.

Damn it! Bill Cosby ruins everything...

Jazz history at its best

It's a bit weird that both times they introduce Cannonball, they actually play Coltrane?!??!?!! It's too bad, bc honestly their sounds are SO different. both geniuses, of course
