    LOL People don’t see the big picture, yes the missiles are expensive but so are the cargo ships. The shipping containers transport costs goes from £1000 through the red sea to £5000 around Africa. This is per container multiply by this by 500,000 shipping containers per day (I looked it up) imagine if the suez was closed. So the cost of these missiles is a bargain

    The economics off this are so dumb. Plus you can mass manufacture the drones very cheaply. As Iran has learnt. Plus they are getting updated all the time. HMS Diamond can only remain at high alert on station for short periods due to insufficient RAS as we are down to one supply ship. Plus crew fatigue. It really gesture politics as there an endless supply of improving drones. The Ukraine lessons learnt by all sides prove that. Reality is you do not cannot invade Yemen . People are tired off endless war in that region. Time to step back.

    A previous commentator Mr Fred hit the nail on the head by explaining the obvious i.e. the Sea Viper is to expensive to be used in this manner . H.M.S. Diamond cannot be reloaded at Sea , she has a finite magazine capacity . Their are only six Type 45 units and they are having to be dry docked to be gutted for previously poor engineering decisions which , somewhat inevitably , have caught up with the class . The Kings enemies are aware of the above and can proceed with their schemes knowing despite the Prime Ministers grandstanding they have the R.N. and H.M. Treasury by the shorts . All could have been predicted Iran. Etc are now acting boldly and with confidence and commitment . In the meantime we cannot afford R. F. A. Supply ships . Our enemies see this and draw the correct conclusions enabling them to act firmly and decisively pushing the envelope ever outward . Mr Trump's presidency will upset the entire International order , no more American policeman . I have had my say enough for one day . I will view with interest any comments on my observations .

      @engineering_in_motion ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your comment, in answer to your question: Submarines are designed to operate underwater so are generally faster when submerged compared to when they are surfaced due to the different hydrodynamic principles at play in water and air. Such as submarine shape, drag, wave resistance, and propulsion efficiency, for example.

    • @GAUROCH2
      @GAUROCH2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@engineering_in_motion I suppose this is not an atomic sub...so a diesel-electric to work at max power submerged would need a snorkel...not the best tunning thing! Besides, the drag submerged would be inevitably superior then at surface... Sorry, I do not manage to get the concept!

    • @krashd
      @krashd 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@GAUROCH2 The drag submerged is a different type of drag, hence why surface vessels are pointed at the front and rounded at the back while submerged vessels are the opposite with a rounded front and a pointed stern.

      @GAUROCH2 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@krashd I am not an expert on hydrodinamics and I'll take your word as true! I was on board and on HELMS WATCH, that terrible night. These divers were the most professional divers, there were. They had a check list that was followed, religiously followed, EVERY SINGLE TIME. Every single valve that needed to be open and or shut, was visibly seen. I know because one of the valves that had to be opened and shut after every dive operation happened to be in my BUNK. To this day I see thier faces, as I and others carried our shipmates off Grayback. One in particular (BLOOMER DV/SS/2) was a very close friend. My wife and I loved his wife and two little girls. I still stay in contact with one of the girls who is happily married with children. I miss him soo much.
