Event at the Kanda Shrine. Finally back after a break from the worldwide crazy. I had a blast. It was worth the time and effort to brace that size of a crowd.

Hey it's pretty good for April camp
Orquesta fenomenal bravo , bravo, bravo
Saw this at finals and thought it was one of the most underappreciated shows that year. The more I watch the finished product, the more I love it.
T.O beat us this competition. I’m still upset 😂
Pure horse crap too!
@@sdsstewardYou March this show?
@tenormdness No. I was on Etiwanda's staff the year before though.
Just love the sound
This is insane
bro gave the camera shrooms
Love Cathy in in traditional DM Uniform. Should have kept it that way...
Thanks for the show! More Please..... That Horn Line was full of Killers.
I need more!!! in this space with whoever was recording. You microphone grabbed this beautifully
I was just using my phone. I think location helps too. I used to perform in the quad at RCC when I marched there. They hold the sound really well.
@@EJL88 do you live close enough to get another or know someone who could?
I saw this on Instagram now I’m a fan for life
Ahhh....good ol' RCC...my home show when I was in BD (since we didn't do a show in San Diego)...with a press box MAYBE 5 degrees above horizontal. At least HERE, tho, the box is on the 50, unlike the last time I marched there in 2006 with SoCal Dream....
Oh yeah !!!👍🏽
I have seen the rikishi performing the "what not to do in sumo" many times, and it still makes me smile.
Always enjoyed going up against scv when I was in Madison 74-76
i was at nas north island from 65 until67 in vs-41,great outfit, great duty.i was a plane captain on the line.the old piston grummans.c.t.hall.
Thank goodness for TH-cam. Circa 2023 chances are we'll never see the SCV bottle dance again.
I was judging percussion performance at this show in Riverside, CA. Reminds me how you had to have eyes in the back of your head to keep from being seriously injured back then.😳Especially a Vanguard drill. Never experienced any disrespect from the Vanguard this year or any other year. Always very professional. I just roll my eyes now days watching percussion judges pace the sideline as new rules prevent them from going on the field. How they properly evaluate the battery is beyond me…..
Unfortunately this show would be banned now...cultural appropriation
Sounds really good 👍👍
Wow! They sound great! Definitley am impressed with their marching and discipline as well!! OOH RAH!!
Definitely one of the top tier units here in Japan. Many of these members are from, have been with or will be with top DCI groups.
Have they been to DCI? I think they'd do well! Or am I missing something?
@@carmelosanchez5909I don’t think they’ve been to DCI Finals. Might be the cost.
Wow, what a bummer. I think they'd do really well!!
Good job.. Well done!!!
Oh my word! I was in drum corps years ago amd heard Bellavia first time then . Hearing this ...brings tears to my eyes.
This was super early in the season. Must have been in California. Lots of changes after that.
Yup, I put that info in there. It was at Riverside City College in Riverside, CA. 👍🏼
All on TWO VALVE G BUGLES! Some of the best Vanguard shows were performed on supposedly "inferior" instruments. I loved that sound!
I think they had upgraded to 3-valve by this time, but your point remains. There was nothing inferior about G bugles. Anyone who says so clearly never played in a G hornline.
@@just__dave Very true. Compare the number of "goosebump moments" with the old G horn lines to those you get now... Nada!
Where the drum break?
Riverside tended to be VERY early in the season...still kinda is. The break may not have been ready for the field yet.
Amazing early show! You can see and hear elements that develop into a great show at finals.
I also trained at VS-41 FRAMP and as plane captain. Served in VS-30 on Forrestal in AIMD during Med cruise. Then hardcore VS-41 late 70’s to early 80’s in airframes division was a CDI and qualified engine turn up operator.
I remember my band directer yelled at me for watching you guys warm up #valleyview
😆🇯🇵✨❤️😭🥹🙏✨君が代が聴けて嬉しかったです。🙏✨🫡 ありがとうございました😭
It is a beautiful national anthem. 美しい国歌です。
VS-41 from Apr '86 - Dec '90. PR Shop - combat seamstress lol
Senior year. Wow. Talk about time travel.
Honestly that was better than I remember it. Our first show in full uniform I believe.
The hornline is incredible as always, but that percussion line sounds like someone dropped rocks in a garbage disposal.
The Crusader DL went to SCV by mistake...
I was in the bleachers in Madison all three nights in August...yeah, the percussion just...didn't...
Hi From NOGALES HIGH SKOOL, NOGALES ARIZONA!!!
Anyone know of casey was in this show
Wholly dirty drumline batman.
Big props for that ride cymbal guy. I'd dap that dude up in a quick hurry! .. in my opinion this is one of the shows that really brought drum corps to where it is now. Except without amplification
One of the greatest shows! Year before I got there. I got there for star trek part 2!
If you found thia video after the band camp american pie u are a legend 😂❤
Wow, this is early season. This show changed so much by Finals. It was awesome in August!
Nice vids
I didn't finish the 6 quads in time for that show, got built laster for the next. Use 5 but have 6 set of quads, backup set.
Nice video!!!👍
Holy smokes did the horn book change or did it change??? I enjoyed seeing this as ‘91 was my rookie year in DCI and I only saw SCV a few times during second tour before finals. Thank you for posting.
Served in VS41 Line & PowerPlants 82-86 310 PC, 110/320Mech TS & HiPwr Eng operator. Rode bike to work living in beautiful Coronado. Life was good back then. Reagan was our leader. S3 was easy to keep FMC. Hoover never broke. Rest of my career assiged to Fighters -VF41/32& VX9. Navy career took a big challenging step up but still have Respect to the ASW mission & Hoover mechs. VF airdale maintainers earn their base pay and Top Gun movie shows Pilots enjoying our hard work. So they can Fly fight Win. One tragic thing I recall of my Roof rat time-Never get close to a Hoover intake. Witnessed Green shirt waist Cat shuttle runner lose his forearm & hand, lucky not his body. I found his thumb stuck to fan blade after shutdown. Naval aviation is serious business. On deck and definitely airborne the US is the best.
I appreciate your time and support of 🥁&🎺 corps future. God bless you.
That closer is legendary. Thanks for posting.
Were the mellos tossing sopranos at :34? Why?
Those are mutes.
I think those were drum heads they were playing into.
@@just__daveding ding ding.. drum heads with snares attached to give a buzzing sound. (Barely if not audible but a really cool sound)
@@cireravilob it’s funny I don’t even remember writing these comments and then somebody replies months or years later 😂 I suffer from Old man brain
I remember seeing and hearing this for the first time in 1991 when at the annual spaghetti feed and getting chills when drums came in on the “helicopter “ simulation. Drums sounded even more killer when we did a standing show at shoreline amphitheater
This type of genius ingenuity will never exist again. Now if a corps wanted to achieve this they would just load a sound effect into a synth and someone would press a button and do their best strained facial expression to convince us they are working hard. So sad.
