This is a great idea! Beats the hell out of lugging another oxygen tank down or looking for a splitter and extra hose so you can use the torches to light the lance! Sucks they don’t sell these at the local welding supply!

Yes, indeed. The igniter ignites only by a pure oxygen flow at about 9 bars, thus it is consumed. You are right - proper shading should be used.
