Computer Networks - Introduction - L1P1
About Course
Computer Networks and OSI Layers: From App to MAC and PHY: Computer networks are a growing trend. You can find them at your home, school, work, and most of the places you go daily. In this course, you will learn the basic concepts of computer networks. Specifically, you are expected to achieve the following milestones:
Become aware of networks surrounding you;
When you start noticing networks around you, you will also understand the big part of the IT world. You will learn how the Internet works, how your Internet Service Provider (ISP) allows you to connect online, how do people share data without Internet access, and much more. Everything starts by becoming aware of computer networks.
Learn how to set up a network;
Whether you are taking this course to improve yourself, to get a better grade at school, or because of work, setting up a network is a skill that is very useful today. Yet many people do not know how to do it. You have an opportunity to learn it in a few minutes.
Learn how to protect yourself in a network, including the Internet;
Unwanted sharing of passwords, pictures, documents, credit card numbers, and internet activity is not something anybody would want to share. But, with the expanded usage of computer networks, privacy is becoming an abstract term. This course helps you protect yourself when going online, and also protects your home/office network.
What will you learn?
Recognize the computer network implementation on various levels and explain how does it work;
Understand the network concept and the need for networks;
Recognize networking devices and implement them in a computer network;
Set up a LAN and differentiate network topologies;
Differentiate network architectures;
Tell the difference between communication modes;
Explain the basics of the OSI (7-layer) model;
Differentiate MAC addresses from IP addresses;
So, in short, you will learn the most important concepts of Computer Networks.
The exact topics include:
Types of networks (size, topology)
Cables in computer networks
TCP/IP architecture
ISO/OSI model
IP protocol (IP address, routing)
TCP & UDP - How they work and what they do
TCP - Connection management.
What things do I need?
To take this course, you only need your computer or smartphone and an internet connection.
Also, if you don’t understand something or if you need help with something. You can always reach out to me. Mostly I respond within a day.
At the end of this course, You will get a certificate of completion. That you can put on your resume or your link in your profile.
Who this course is for:
The course is for everyone interested in learning about computer networks;
Students that need help with network subjects;
People who simply want to improve their knowledge of computer networks;
Anyone who tried to learn about a computer network, but failed due to the lack of a perceivable image of it;
People preparing for certification exams (such as CCNA 200-301 Course);
After completing this course, you may find yourself in love with networks and want to further your education in this domain by taking other courses such as the CCNA course to continue your learning journey and become an expert in this domain, where you will learn all the core topics of computer networks including: 1. Network Basics 2. Network Protocols 3. Network Architecture 4. Network Topologies 5. Network Security 6. Network Troubleshooting 7. Network Performance, Mentoring and Optimization 8. Thanks for the video. I imagine Q channel is delayed by half symbol time BEFORE the shaping filter. Is it possible to implement that delay AFTER shaping filter as it is easier in hardware.
Yes, it is possible
You’re right about the filter ringing being a cause of high amplitude transients. Applying the delay after the shaping filter can help with implementation simplicity in hardware, but it doesn’t fully address the transient issues caused by the filter. This is because the filter applies its response without being aware of the symbol timing offset between the I and Q channels, which can lead to residual ringing. When you place the delay before the shaping filter, the filter can smooth the transitions more evenly across the I and Q paths, reducing the high-frequency transients and preventing them from getting amplified by subsequent stages like upsampling filters before the DAC. Delaying after the filter helps, but it’s more of a partial solution, and the more upsampling you have, the more noticeable the transients might become. So, while delaying after the filter is easier in hardware, the best signal quality comes from applying the delay before the shaping filter to reduce ringing at the source. This course researcherstore.com/courses/rf-communication-system-design/ will be of a great help for you in RF radio design.
@@Wislabi Well actually I deleted my previous comment but thanks. My conclusion is that Q offset is irrelevant until mixer stage as each I or Q channels are independent. Filter ringing will be part of filter response and will be same if there Q offset or not. So my final conclusion is that Q offset only makes sense when the channels are mixed and can be applied anywhere before mixer.
Where can AmBC systems be applied currently or in the future? What is the communication range in meters? How does the actual modification of the RF source signal occur? Is there a need for channel estimation in such systems? I would be grateful for a quick reply as I am preparing for a presentation on the topic
MaxLinear just has issued a new open ran 5g SoC chip called “Sierra”. A very powerful chip!!!!
