perfect meal plans fail

A perfect meal plan for the week is probably the meal plan that is most likely to fail in the long-term. Meal prepping can be really beneficial to save you time and money, resolve food availability issue for you. But make it too perfect, and you will either throw your food or start forcing yourself to eat. I will go so far to say that a perfect meal prep does not exits. And I am going to explor...

Blended till cucumbers are in smaller pieces. + Flatbread to wrap the shawarma. The second wrap: portobello mushrooms marinated in the same marinade, 1/2 avocado, tzatziki sauce, tortilla, tomatoes ⭐️COOKING TIPS ⭐️ * Chopping garlic will likely make your fingers smell, and if it makes you uncomfortable, either use gloves or garlic press. Garlic press will produce a more pungent taste as more flavor molecules will burst and release aroma, and that's just one thing you can experiment with. * Great for batch cooking, you can store leftover marinade and use it for another batch of mushies the next day. * Mushrooms will most definitely release a lot of water when cooked on a pan, so in order to get the perfect crisp and still keep it oil-free, you could either infuse the flavour in a pan for about 5 minutes on medium heat and then transfer the mushrooms to the oven at 200C/390F for around 10 minutes or till brown, or you could roast them in the oven till brown and have a slight crisp to them. * Using different yoghurts and milks will create different taste of the final dish. This is why it is important to taste the sauce and the marinade before sending the mushrooms to cook - and adjust accordingly, with lemon - for acidity, salt - for saltiness, and any other spices for additional flavor. * For the reference: I used unsweetened soya milk and almond "Greek" plant yoghurt, which has a light sweet taste.

    Why don’t you just add unprocessed, nutritious meat, including organ meat, to your diet? You obviously feel better simply because of avoiding the disproportional nutrition in a standard western diet, such as disproportional amount of sugars and the highly inflammatory vegetable oils high in linoleic acid, as well as because of maintaining a stable microbiome with all the soluble fiber you’re getting, resulting in feeling well. there’s tons of plant-based diets that are horrible and nutrient-deficient. Add some occasional, pasture raised, unprocessed red meat with the very healthy animal fat and fat-soluble vitamins contained in it such as suet. Also, eat some liver, kidney, brain and spleen. Those are actual nutrient-dense foods, as compared to the nutrition found in the plant-kingdom. Don’t believe me? Look up the nutrition in the organ meats and compare those to plant “superfoods”. The animal products are clearly a lot more nutritious, and don’t forget that most of those nutrients are even much more bioavailable. Please consider adding a bit of meat, especially organs, to your diet. Humans have evolved on eating meat; pre-agricultural hunter-gatherers prefer meat and honey over any other food. It’s an essential part of the human diet, and yes, unfortunately animals have to die for this, but that shouldn’t necessarily be something you feel bad for because you like playing with animals and find them cute because you anthropomorphize them. It’s just how it is.

    • @nastiacooksplants
      @nastiacooksplants 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Uf, that’s a good one! Thanks for taking time to watch and leave a comment. I did not study this topic, by I know that organ meats, no doubt, are high in bioavailable nutrients. I used to love them too. Except liver, which I never liked but I loved hearts and stomachs. My honest answer to your question is “I wouldn’t have bothered” when I transitioned. As of now, while I find it convincing that you can include animal foods and be healthy, especially as you mentioned, good quality products. I feel privileged to have variety of foods available at the moment, and while I am able to make it without the inclusion of animal products, I should take advantage of this privilege. It is relevant that my original problem was allergies and non-specific inflammation, which have drastically improved and are non-existent in the labs. And that’s, of course, great. To be honest, I was never an “oil” or “junk food” person. Having frequent flare ups made it almost impossible. My diet could be considered “healthy”, at least from the nutritional perspective. Whole foods including grains, vegetables, fish, poultry, some red meat, organ meats too. Many other things have changed since then but that was definitely one of the biggest changes. And the second transition has been promising as well as fun. As I get older, I do focus more on my labs and try to be attentive to all body functions. Would it be the same with occasional organ meats? Maybe. Occasional meat consumption is compatible with health, as per my knowledge, so probably it may have been the same. But you know, defining “occasional”, which works for me would have taken a couple of more doctor visits. Fish consumption seems to be correlated with same or better health outcomes. Would I eat it? Considering the environmental impact at this point in our history, I prefer to avoid it. Speaking selfishly, finding good fish here is quite challenging unless you go to a wet market. Situation with meat is quite similar. Things stay on a display for quite a while, and don’t smell good. Takes effort too. And moneyz. Do I sympathise with the issues around animal welfare? Yeah. I like playing with animals, but also industrial meat production just doesn’t look good, even when you consider the impact of animal stress hormones, medicines, potential contaminants, etc on human health. Taking environmental impact into consideration, with the raising demand for meat from countries like China, it looks like we have to do something about it. Cellular and acellular agriculture look promising to me, I am curious where this is going! Would I be a customer of such an industry? Maybe, I would be curious to try. In more traditional societies animals are still slaughtered but not at a scale and not the way we see now. My grandma used to tell stories of how they would slaughter animals for celebratory feasts and how they owners about cows’, pigs’, chicks’ well-being around the year. This is anecdotal but I think reflects how live stock used to be treated less than 100 years back. Doesn’t mean I has to be the same way, but this should have affected the meat quality. It’s a different topic altogether but I am not 100% convinced that we should rely on our anscestors’ diets just because they lived in a different environment altogether. They wouldn’t be able to throw lentils in an Instant Pot and mash an avocado if they lived in Northern Europe. They could snack on raw red kidney beans and get food poisoning. Life expectancy was different too, so to me it’s really hard to compare the two. It would have been natural for them to drift towards nutrient-dense foods, I think not much has changed in this sense. I hope I am at least a bit convincing. Feel free to disagree with any point and send some sources across (but I think TH-cam doesn’t allow sharing links, sharing titles should work though). If I’m wrong, I’d be keen to know. I think you touched upon a couple of interesting topics.

      Hi dear, I went plant based over 4 years ago. I am extremely happy with my choice, but I don't have access to alot of variety here (carribbean), so I need to be creative. Also, have some difficulties finding foods that are high in positive calories and protein.

      @@pawshands9706 hey, thank you for sharing! that's super interesting, does Caribbean cuisine lean towards animal products? and I'm curious to try some of your recipes! cooking has been quite a challenge for me too - I don't think we have a good selection of protein-rich dishes in Russia

    • @pawshands9706
      @pawshands9706 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nastiacooksplants Hi and thanks dear. Meat is a constant thing in the Caribbean, but some people are opening up new vegetarian and vegan places now. I have had to be very creative and devoted to educating family members to try some vegan goodies. These are some dishes that I have veganized; MOFONGO: I sauté garlic, onions, cilantro, then mash up plantains while adding fresh coconut milk and a new Morongo is made. Rice and guandules; Caribbean green peas and coconut rice with plenty chopped peppers/chilies. Hearty Asopao (vegan tuber stew with plenty of fresh herbs and a splash of lime juice. My love to Russia during these difficult times. May peace return.

      @@pawshands9706 interesting, I would have thought that meat is mor occasional because the climate is warm and it sounds like a lot of fresh produce around the year! Who eats 1-200 calories per meal? That's like a snack for an infant

    • @nastiacooksplants
      @nastiacooksplants 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Infants have hard times with legumes. But no, seriously, add other foods or add more food. I’m not gonna be mad

      @phillippinter7518 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nastiacooksplants I deleted last reply that if it showed in your notifications bc I realized I was wrong. I liked the comment about the infants lol. But srsly I think you should just change the serving sizes since the average person eat more like about 2400kcal per day so roughly 800 per meal for a 3 meal non snaker maybe 400 for someone who eats a lot of snacks.

      @@phillippinter7518 haha no worries. I think you have a point, I should maybe revise the approach. Your comment made me think about those numbers and got me worried I would promote disordered eating behavior with those calories.

    Thank you so much for this recipe. Was recently gifted a monster of a zucchini, and left to figure stuff out on my own. Your recipe is great! Great idea with the TH-cam Shorts adaption. Watched the longer version and have to agree with some the comments saying it was a bit long. This will def. help in a time viewers with record short attention span. Can't wait for more videos.
