So I bought a car...
In Canada this would be considered a rust free vehicle and would be extremely desirable. Vehicles less than 2 years old look worse than this.
How did you buy a car from Italy? Do you have italian citizenship?
Great work mate, what a rig.
SENSATIONAL
Wow, what an adventure! Greetings from Italy!
I just watched all your videos back to back ! I just bought my 1st discovery 2 . I love your efforts and soundtrack!!!
Oh what a sad ending to a beautiful story. Awesome series tough, very enjoyable to watch. Regards from Portugal
🤨 There is something strange there, how is it possible? Did you remove the seats...and didn't find a single coin? 🤔 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Greetings forma Mexico 🇲🇽
Wouldn't trust an Aussie mechanic to ever ever ever be objective about a Land Rover product hahah
geez ok that's quite the turn around within a minute!
Brisbane boy?
first buy some gloves second a slot for an impact screwdriver ( you hit it with a hammer) is quicker but the bolt modification was a good idea obviously. Good luck.
Nice job on the viewing deck, but cupboard doors wont hold up to the elements for long, Hope the cable ties were a temporary fix? Because if the wind catches the boards from underneath the roof rack, you may have a few flying doors! Good effort though!😂
Awesome job on the headlining! I have a 1997 Discovery 300tdi special Edition Argyll in Woodcoate Green since 1998. My headlining has started to come away at the rear! Been thinking to recover it myself😅😊
A fabulous series of videos, with a cracking soundtrack and I thoroughly enjoyed watching your progress - need to get to grips with my D2 V8 now !!
Shame you’re parting with it. While some of your… learning curve…is on full display, your production values in creating videos are VERY high. You should either tweak the keywords you’re using, or keep plugging away at project vehicles and making videos like these. There’s no reason you shouldn’t be having thousands, if not tens of thousands, of views on each of these…. maybe more….
The bonnet painting makes me cringe, but it’s probably exactly what mine will turn out like when I do the paint on my D1. lolol
I'm not sure I follow correctly what you're saying about your discovery not featuring in the Camel Trophy? you even show pics of a couple of facelift 5drs. Unless you just meant yours isn't a Tdi?
so much time and love for this truck and it died with the paint job to the bonnet...
i can't imagine the man hours put into this. awesome!
Noooo!! you did an amazing job with this rover. i have a discovery 1 myself, stateside, that could use some TLC.
Not being a 300tdi was your first mistake on this adventure.
Not everyone wants a 300tdi.
nooooooooo
Sorry to see this adventure come to an end. But you’ve got a lot to be proud of with this series. Hope you return to making videos in one form or another. You’ve got a real talent for telling a story, putting together engaging content, and a great ear for music 👍 Until next time…. cheers!
Bummed to see you put in all that work for such a wonderful vehicle and not get to fully enjoy the fruits of that labor. I was hoping to see the series continue beyond just your garage and driveway. Not all things are meant to be, though, and like the next future lucky owner.. I enjoyed the ride. So thanks. And cheers.
on the underbody, door sills, engine bay.... you spent a shedload of time removing any surface rust, etc. good job. to finish this up and protect the bare metal, get some cosmoline rust proofing spray and coat it well. this will creep into all the crevices and seal the metal from rust reforming. I use Amsoil HD metal protector. you got a good looking rig there. kudos.
I did a very similar thing with a door off a server rack. I have a video on my site.
Glad you were able to do the headliner yourself. $750 is twice what it cost to get mine done here in the US.
Welcome to the Land Rover family. I hope you have deep pockets :) I absolutely love my '04 Disco
Wow, great videos. I just picked up a 95 Disco 1 that is certainly in need of some TLC. Going on my 4th Disco 1 and this once presents the most challenges. Best of luck!
Hi from Alaska, I have a 98 Land Rover discovery , it gets around great in ice & snow .
Coolest car on the ferry!
Great resourcefulness with the cupboard doors, Corann 👌
Nice job!!
w
nice going mate. lovely car
Can't wait for part 2 sir! When's the video dropping?
@geoffrey crocker would be proud.
Great video series mate. My son ( around your age I’m guessing) has a D1 V8 auto as well and out of curiosity how many tanks of fuel to do your 500km trip? Thanks.
Fuel gauge is slightly faulty so can’t give you an exact number. But filled the car up 2&1/2 times.
@@CorannsProjects thanks mate, sounds about right.
Now if you had a TDI you would get around 550miles per tank…that’s open roads and no faster than 65mph.
@@andrewgulland3925 , I told my son to buy a tdi but he really likes the note the V8 makes🤦♂️, kids.
Sorry, bloke, but that bonnet looks god-awful! It lets all your other good work down.
Hey mate loving these videos. I'm in a similar position with my D1 and I'm slowly getting it more setup for my needs, and it's taken me to many long journeys around WA already. It's nice to see them getting used like they should be and looked after rather than going to the junkyard.
Ah, what a fantastic journey you've taken us on, mate! Watching you cruise around the stunning streets of Brisbane in that classic 25-year-old Land Rover is an absolute treat. Your Scottish charm and enthusiasm just add that extra layer of authenticity and excitement to the whole restoration adventure. First off, let me raise a virtual glass to your dedication and hard work in bringing this Land Rover back to life. It's a testament to your passion and commitment that you've managed to revive a vehicle that's seen a quarter-century of action. And you're right, mate, perfection might not be the endgame here, but the character and history that this old beauty exudes more than make up for any imperfections. Seeing you embark on a 500-kilometer drive in the Land Rover for the first time must have been a mix of emotions - excitement, trepidation, and perhaps a hint of nostalgia. That rumbling engine, the creaks and rattles, they all contribute to the symphony of memories encapsulated within those four wheels. It's like you're driving through time itself, and we're all here for the ride. But let's not forget the practical side of things - a 25-year-old Land Rover is bound to have its quirks. The occasional hiccup, the unexpected sputter, they're all part of the charm that comes with owning and restoring a vintage vehicle. It's as much about the journey under the hood as it is about the journey on the road. And with your Scottish spirit leading the way, I have no doubt that you'll take on each challenge with a hearty "och aye!" Brisbane provides the perfect backdrop for your Land Rover adventures. The cityscape blending with the ruggedness of your vehicle is a sight to behold. From urban streets to off-road trails, that Land Rover is reclaiming its purpose - to explore and conquer, no matter the terrain. And speaking of conquering, let's not forget the community you're building through your videos. Land Rover enthusiasts, Scottish folk, Aussies, and people from all walks of life are coming together to share in your journey. Your authenticity, humor, and the sheer joy you radiate when behind the wheel are infectious, turning viewers into fans and supporters. So here's to you, mate, and your 25-year-old Land Rover that's seen its fair share of years. May you continue to rack up the kilometers, create memories, and inspire us all with your restoration adventure. And remember, it's not just a car; it's a piece of history, a connection to the past, and a source of endless stories. Keep driving, keep sharing, and keep that Scottish spirit alive down under! Cheers! 🚙🏴🇦🇺
Makes me proud to be a vintage Disco 1 owner of Bris too. Very kind words for this Scot.
A tip for the future when you find nuts or bolts thats hard to remove, cut a slit on top of the bolt and use a screwdriver to get them out. Best if if you can find a screwdriver with a hexagonal shape on the shank as you can use a wrench to help out getting more torque.
You know that you’re already speaking English, so the captions are redundant? 😂. Great video.
Some people cannot understand a Scottish accent
Absolutely the worst restoration of any vehicle I have ever seen.
Can you put a link up for your restoration please? Thanks.
The blue and tan looks mint mate
5:20 I see you found my tinder bio
Just found your channel today and binged the first 7 episodes. Appreciate the DIY approach and what you’ve been able to do so far to rescue this Discovery. And the music choices are excellent!
I have to just say this and I appologise if I offend you, its not the point. But you really fucked up the bonnet job. You barily puot paint down, it looks like cammo. Otherwise nice work and lovely car. Keeo going and learning and youll be a pro soon.
Do you own a grinder?....Ahh you found it. 😀 3:46 )
Did you find doing the headliner particularly difficult?
It was very time consuming. You need to make sure you buy the correct adhesive spray. That the fabric you use is stretchy. One thing to note is to not over-stretch the fabric when applying. Overtime the stress on the fabric may result it in falling away from the adhesive spray. Best to just give it a go and realise it may not end up perfect 👍🏼
