Helen Glassford | The Phenomenal World
มุมมอง 1.4Kหลายเดือนก่อน
The Phenomenal World is Helen Glassford’s second major exhibition with The Scottish Gallery. Glassford’s oil paintings draw on her memory, experience and observation of the remote areas of Scotland. They are places without names, but often looking to the north. Glassford works to shape space with simple washes and minimal brushwork suggesting movement, or at other times by building layers slowl...
A visit to Shetland
มุมมอง 684หลายเดือนก่อน
Christina Jansen was working from Shetland earlier this week, staying opposite Bains Beach in Lerwick. In this film we have sewn together just a fraction of Christina's many film clips - there is no story, just the spirit of the place. It begins with a 113mph hurricane… going from Sumburgh in the far south and closes with a glimpse of the far north of the island.

We welcome Daniel Freyne’s first solo exhibition with The Gallery. Formally trained as a blacksmith, Freyne’s work is a modern representation of a timeless craft; a homage to the foundations of blacksmithing, yet a distinct breakaway from the romanticised notions of what a smith is and is not. Lachlan Goudie | More Sun, More Colour!

"This suite of paintings is the product of hours spent in the heat of the Mediterranean and the south of Spain; sketching my way along broiling coastal paths or in the forgiving shade of a palm tree. Each one of these images is an attempt to bottle up sunshine, to capture a moment of tranquillity and colour." - Lachlan Goudie Explore the exhibition online here: scottish-gallery.co.uk/whats-on/l...

In his latest exhibition, which marks Cass’s tenth major solo presentation of his career, the artist celebrates the power and majesty of the oceans, and continues to use his art to campaign for climate awareness. Rising sea levels, unpredictable severe storms, and the bleaching of coral reefs starkly remind us of how human activity is altering the natural balance of our seas. Explore the exhibi...

I love Angies work, especially her more abstract printmaking.
Very nice!
What a lovely little film of a truly beautiful home and a wonderful artist.❤
Nice , unsentimental, decorative Cats ,…😊
What a lovely film - very inspiring. Look forward to visiting the Exhibition.
❤❤❤
Lovely work and beautiful commentary. Thank you!
Interesting film hearing about the Lachlan Goudie's travels. I am not a rampant feminist but I noticed he only mentioned male Scottish artists ...Barbara Rae and Elizabeth Blackadder come to mind both RAs and painted in Spain .Please can you add some female artists .
Shirley, don't forget the brilliant Anne Redpath. After I discovered her I changed my entire way of painting. She changed my life
I love your work Lachlan, but I would echo Shirley Spinder by saying how come, in my view the greatest British artist - Anne Redpath is never mentioned?
this is such a lovely video. Thank you
I just wanted to say you don't have to explain yourself. I've been watching you since you were a teenager. I'm 62 years old and I'm not easily fooled. I have always believed in you your family all of them. There's nothing there is to gain for you guys to fake things. I absolutely know you're not fake. You're longest Van Kim panessa Cali girl.
love your painting -Inspired!
Absolutely mad for her work, thank you for this delightful short film.
How nice. ! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
J'adore!
Sublime work!

Beautiful work.
The clay I have is making me angry due to its cracking. Not strong enough.
Thank you for sharing. Brought back memories of attending a week long residency at Links House in 2023 with The Museum of Loss, Life, Renewal lead by Tracy MacKenna. I am so excited to hear more about your experiences and processes and the evolution of the work in summer and winter light. The winter light images felt Goya -esque mark making. I remember lying and looking up at clouds in the nature reserve, the linear striated rocks at Birsay Bay, the textured landscapes, standing stones and flagstones. Especially appreciated the rocks of Yesnaby Cliffs as I painted with the rocks as a slip. Would love some day to have further conversation. Cheers😊
What a beautiful body of work to leave us. How fortunate we were !
would love to see those in person
Wonderful, refreshing and fascinating medium and aesthetic! Beautiful art
What a lovely surprise coming across this. I love Joan’s work, particularly the last one. I am an artist from Scotland too, in fact James I am you distant cousin - Peter Naughtie’s daughter, living and painting in Portugal now
brilliant
Such a simple technique with amazing results, you are a wealth of knowledge and I hope to one day be a third of the artist you are mam.
She was a marvelous painter. You must be hugely proud of your grandmother. She managed to paint steadfastly and raise a family at the same time, no small feat. She had her trials and tribulations. I hope you enjoyed your comic. Take care.
Beautiful 💗
❤!!!
Trabalho maravilhoso! 🤩🇧🇷👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
What a beautiful style you have. It captures the nature of the subject so well.
So vibrant, lovely. I’m an artist/designer. A creator of a diverse range of work but all based on a strong design ethic. Sometime in the near future I might get in touch with the Studio, as I have a potential American client, for whom I’ve already done design work for. Love decorative textiles.
She produced a lot of beautiful work & showed a lovely sensibility in her handling of line & colour. Sad that she has gone away.
Hello, hope you are well. Best wishes.
Very Nice , greetings from Belguim
