Omg bro I didn't even use the video but thanks for making this I saw a video on there other tool grub v2 and tried it did nothing I use resctux cuz and did a mrb repair because grub bootloader locked me out worked perfectly thanks I'm sure this helps a lot of people I can get in to windows now and might just be placebo but i think it loaded faster then ever
Eres un grande, de verdad
Hey, nice thing you are developing here, may i ask when can normal people have hands on it? i managed to install rescapp on debian 12 live, but i would like to have an iso with all non-free drivers and such so i could use dd on usb, make persistence things and thats it.
When? Not sure. Maybe in 6 months time. You might want to download a non-free Debian 12 Live based on LXQT image (The official live cds might or might not include those by default) and install Rescapp there. It would be also be great for you to open an issue on 'Github rescapp issues' page with whatever changes you did to Rescapp so that you could install it in Debian 12. This will be make things a bit faster when the time comes to port Rescapp to Debian 12 and finally integrating it to Rescatux. Regarding persistence I will not add support for it per se... so... if it works out of the box then you will be fine... otherwise you will have to complain and we will see what happens because I want the ISO to be hybrid (considered as an usb and as an iso at the same time) and I'm not sure if that avoids being able to use persistence. - Github rescapp issues: github.com/rescatux/rescapp/issues - ?non-free? Debian 12 Live based on LXQT image: cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/current-live/amd64/iso-hybrid/
Is there a rescatux for arm cpu?
No, there is not. You can ask for it on github.com/rescatux/rescatux/issues . Later on we can open another issue in github.com/rescatux/rescapp/issues about the Rescapp program itself. What features it's supposed to have in arm systems vs amd64 systems.
I want to learn how to make an operating system? Do you have any ideas from where I should learn?
Check Linux from Scratch book for the wide definition of Operating System. Check Minix if you are intested in developing a kernel.
@@adrian15sgd I want to build my own operating system! But how will I be able to run windows or Linux apps or packages in it?
@@devilbatman215 Running Windows or Linux programs on top of an own-made Operating System might be quite challenging but, anyhow, let's go with it. For running Windows programs check the wine project and the ReactOS operating system. For running linux programs it should be quite straight-forward. Either your make your OS directly based on the Linux kernel... Or you can maybe check how freebsd, openbsd add a linux binary compatibility layer on top of them. In addition to all of the above you might also be interested on the Temple OS project and the T2 linux project regarding how to build Operating Systems from scratch. They both have TH-cam channels where they explain what they do. Here there are some links for you to explore: - www.winehq.org/ - reactos.org/ - www.kernel.org/ - docs.freebsd.org/en/books/handbook/linuxemu/ - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TempleOS - t2sde.org/ Finally some random links that Google has suggested me when searching for small OSes: - kolibrios.org/en/ - github.com/hhuOS/hhuOS

Consegui deixa na descrição os comandos utilizados
You can eventually find all of the commands in the different dev branches at the live-build and rescatux repos which are found at: github.com/rescatux/ . If you are missing any command please open an issue on the repo and I will add it to the relevant documentation.
Good to see you still working on Rescatux & developing a new version of it, will be downloading inmediatedly when you finish it, this tool is very useful & I'm very thankful for it, I wish you the developers luck, health & prosperity, greetings from Puerto Rico & God bless you all, cheers!
Hi Ezequiel! Thank you for your nice words. In theory this distro should be quite easy to create because it's just adding rescapp program to a Debian live cd. However that's not true because Debian live cd lacks some features such as: - SELinux support - Syslinux Arch Autodetection at boot - Support for both UEFI X64 and UEFI IA32. - Wizard that helps you to setup your keyboard, screen and so on - LiveID so that two different live-usbs, live-cdroms or live-hard drives are not detected as the same one And, well, this year I want to add some non-free firmware to the live cds so that they can be shown in more videocards than before. I also want to contribute to live-build so that those features I don't have to rewrite them in a few years. So, yeah, it will take some time in order to release it. In the meanwhile you can test Super Grub2 Disk which has recently published a beta. Thank you again for your support!
excellent video, greetings friend
muchas gracias por su tiempo amigo, saludos de su amigo ericksystem
any colabs anytime soon?
will this work on a NUC which has only Ubuntu loaded , and no windows OS at all ? because i dont have a CD Drive do i use rescatux on a USB stick with RUFUS or YUMI
Support questions should go into the Rescatux Github issues page. Anyways... My recommendation is to use Balena Etcher to put Rescatux onto the USB stick (Beaware the USB stick will be completely erasen). As we don't have the latest Shim+Grub you might need to turn off Secure Boot on your UEFI for Rescatux to boot properly on your device. Hopefully in less than one year the newest Rescatux version will be released and you won't need to turn off Secure Boot if the UEFI is too new.
@@adrian15sgd thankyou :)
Should Rescatux work from a USB stick to recover Ubuntu ? I tried to download and save to a USB stick but it wont allow me to ? Must i use YUMI or RUFUS ?
Thanks for your contributions! I use SG2 daily, appreciate people like you keeping it up!
Any reason why you use Super Grub2 Disk daily? Is it some Grub that you have not been able to fix permanently? Os is it some kind of repair shop revolving around GNU/Linux systems?
😮
Köszönöm , nagy segítség !!! Élet mentő!
Any idea what can help me with my distro that doesn’t use grub? Pop-OS is a Debian based distro, it uses systemD instead of grub. I’ve tried everything and nothing will make my laptop notice the boot entry I’ve placed in it. Super Grub disks allows me to boot into Pop-OS, but I’m pretty much stuck 😮💨😤

It is amazing story😂😂😂
Why did you do it? I wish I would have seen before and I had understood all about you.
It's been so long that I guess that I did it for fun and, also, in order to turn into words something that I was feeling at that moment. In retrospectiveness I think that it's nice way of remembering one of the many phases of my life.
hello, I have a homework about rescatux, I need to research and learn, but my English is not very good and there are no resources in my native language, I would love to contact you, I have a lot of questions. Can you give the name of any of your social media accounts for contact?
Maybe the best thing is to drop your questions in different emails on our dormant mailing list. lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/rescatux-general
Sorry but the audio is terrible
Yeah, it's true. I have improved my audio recordings since this old video was done.
I got a server (HP dl380p gen8) that uses the legacy bios. Recently i’ve installed 2x a nvme m.2 card on pci slots which can’t be seen by the server as bootable disk. Can I use this to boot up windows server 2022 that is installed on the nvme? ( installed it by using another computer and plugged it back in the server ).
1) That's quite difficult with a BIOS (non UEFI). Sometimes if the BIOS sees the disk but it does not offer it to boot it then yes. In that case... Boot from hard disk or booting from partition from within the 'Boot & Tools' menu be the path to follow. If the BIOS does not see the disk and does not offer it to Grub / Super Grub2 Disk then you are out of luck. As this is HP dl380p gen8 which seems something profesional I doubt that their BIOS won't offer that hard disk to be a bootable one when it detects it. 2) In any case using Super Grub2 Disk involves that you have to boot from it, and then manually select to boot from the internal disk. Once you reboot you need to boot from Super Grub2 Disk again and select the option again in the menu. 3) If it does not work you would have to contact Windows forums and such. If Windows boot code is powerful enough (with its own drivers and such) you might be able to install it in an older disk so that it finds Windows kernel/system on the new disk. 4) Finally you could try to install Linux in the old disk and virtualize the second hard disk, yeah, I know, it doesn't make a lot of sense. This seems a fun challenge. Keep us updated with what you end finally doing.
Hello, what about Centos 7, is it compatible? In an attempt to install Windows, I deleted the first partition (512M)(sda1), it doesn't start anymore. Installation did not continue, so in theory the partition was not overwritten. Will I be successful using Super Grub2? If I can start it as shown in the video, how do I fix the solution so that it starts automatically on the next boot? Thanks a lot for sharing the knowledge. Wishes always much more success.
> Hello, what about Centos 7, is it compatible? If you have not deleted shim file, yes. > In an attempt to install Windows, I deleted the first partition (512M)(sda1), Well, it seems that you have deleted EFI partition which contains shim file. > If I can start it as shown in the video, how do I fix the solution so that it starts automatically on the next boot? If Super Grub2 Disk was able to boot into your system you would contact Centos 7 support (probably on their forums) in order to know how to fix this. Super Grub2 Disk is meant to boot into your system. Not for something else. Or... you can give it a go to Rescatux... although Rescatux cannot help when you have deleted your EFI partition if I'm being honest. Will you be able to boot into Centos 7 even if the EFI partition (which contains shim file) is deleted (your specific case) thanks to Super Grub2 Disk? Yes, you will be able to. It's just that this current beta does not have 'specific support' for Centos 7 SecureBoot.
Also... you could always turn off SecureBoot in your Firmware/BIOS and then use Super Grub2 Disk in order to boot into your Centos 7 system, fix whatever you have to fix and then turn on SecureBoot again.
@@adrian15sgd Hi Adrian, thanks for the quick response. EFI or secure boot is not enabled, it is in BIOS mode. I believe that only the standard Linux BOOT folder and GRUB was written to a small initial half-Giga partition. In theory, the partition was "removed" by the Windows 10 installer, manually, by the user's wrong choice. However, FDISK lists the partition as normal, but says it is unknown. LVM is on, the ROOT partition is on a subvolume of sda2, cl-root. Unfortunately Rescatux still cannot help, the EASE BOOT LINUX FIX option ends with error. The RESTORE GROUP option installs a GRUB that boots to the prompt, LS in the GRUP shows the VLM volumes. Do you have any other ideas Adrian? Thank you so much again.
@@carloshpaiva If the kernel is still there use Super Grub2 Disk to boot into it. If the partition has not been wiped out use "gpart" (not gparted) to try to recover it. Ask someone else for support.

Nice! I've wanted something like this for a while; This is awesome! All of the Ubuntu variants should use the same shim and grub, so I don't think you'll need or want different Xubuntu, Lubuntu, Kubuntu, etc options. It's nice to see that you're still adding cool new features to SG2D, and I wish you well 🙂
> Nice! > > I've wanted something like this for a while; This is awesome! Yeah, that's nice. I already knew what was the basic architecture a few months after SecureBoot was begun to be added to main distros but I haven't had the time to implement it. > All of the Ubuntu variants should use the same shim and grub, so I don't think you'll need or want different Xubuntu, Lubuntu, Kubuntu, etc options. Well, having different options for Xubuntu, Lubuntu and so on... it's just trying to make it easier for newbies but I will probably add those different flavours into the ubuntu line and that's it. > It's nice to see that you're still adding cool new features to SG2D, and I wish you well 🙂 Yeah, it was about time that I implemented SecureBoot. If I am being honest SuperGrub2Disk is quite mature. You could add an additional option to bypass your distro's root password, yeah, but other than that nobody asks for anything which makes sense.
I don't see a video on Windows EFI...
You don't need a video. It's quite straight-forward to do within Rescatux. The option name is Reinstall Microsoft Windows UEFI. You can check that option at the Rescatux 0.73 hands on video at 7:46 : th-cam.com/video/cusq-ZI3-2E/w-d-xo.html .
For those of you that are having problems with amdgpu or not getting to the desktop at all please take a look at the Non Free (as in freedom) Rescatux here: rescatux.sourceforge.net/repo/README.non-free.html .
Boot failed! Any hints? Best regards
As we don't have the latest Shim+Grub you might need to turn off Secure Boot on your UEFI for Rescatux to boot properly on your device. Hopefully in less than one year the newest Rescatux version will be released and you won't need to turn off Secure Boot if the UEFI is too new.
man i love this guys voice. May not be super perfect sounding but it is slow enough for both beginners and non native speakers (like me) to understand without having to rewind and each syllable is articulated clearly.
Yeee. Nice PFP too.
Everytime I boot up the rescatux i end up at an login prompt: progress login: ?! root/root root/toor and so on...dows not work :( Any ideas ? I've never seen any gui
I fixed this progress thing back in the day. Which Rescatux version are you actually using? Rescatux 0.74 should not have this specific problem.

Unfortunately, YUMI does not install a working GRUB 2 Iso Stick that starts! I believe we can re-study this mystical science ourselves via GRUB, BIOS and UEFI and make our own page. It's not a good explanation
Use Balena Etcher instead (Be warned all of the USB contents will be lost). Yumi was the right choice back in the day because it was easier for an average Windows instead.
Wtf? 10x the same explanation: automatically or manual for start Linux/Windows.... All time I understand the same again again again? Why you explain 10x, how you can chose automatically or manual for starting Linux/Windows?!
Because some advanced people might need to choose their specific distro on their own. So you need to cover all most of the scenarios. This is a documentation video. This video was not designed to your specific needs.

Garbage OS
Hi! I'm using rescatux 7.01 (v5.6), the doubt I have is... The partion that I erased belongs to windows 10. So when I'm trying to rescue in the original position (801 MB partition) after selected, a new menu appear asking me to install the Window 10 MBR in the HDD (size of my HDD is 261 Gb). But I'm not quite sure of what do I've to do? If I want to restore the WINDOWS 10 MBR into the 801MB partiton, then why appears the menu that I've to select the 261Gb hard drive? I don't want to lose all my files in my HDD, if I select restore WINDOWS 10 MBR to the 261Gb after selected first the 801 MB partition, what would happen?
If you delete a Windows partition then there trying to recover Windows MBR is not going to help. Try to recover the deleted partition first using gpart (not gparted). Then you might need to recover Windows MBR if you have overwritten it with other bootloader.
Gracias por el tutorial ^^
