GASCAP + Axon SL Switch | Replacing SureFire Tailcap with new Unity Tailcap to fix Modlite Flicker
มุมมอง 5886 หลายเดือนก่อน
If you’ve ever had a constant-on flicker issue with your Modlite, here is the way that I solved that problem. The Unity Tactical GASCAP and AXON SL switch are part of their new Link System, which uses a USB-C connector instead of the traditional SureFire pin. This offers near-zero loss of light output in a more secure connection method. #Unity #Tactical #SureFire #light #switch #tailcap #GASCAP...
Great review man, I appreciate the in depth analysis on each individual pouch and the uses of each of them.
Thank you for the watch and the kind words, brother; it means a lot.
My favorite carrier on the market
I’ve had it for over 2 years now and I absolutely love this thing.
That is a goddamn recoil spring assembly! Not a buffer spring. This is absolutely not a fm m16a2. Thanks for many Marine Corps memories 😂
You are absolutely right. Caught me on a brain fart 😅
using or carrying? if your using---then you need to move or get a new line of work.... i been carrying TDI now since introduced and taken classes at TDI ---i 2nd the armatus sheaths tried SOCP and run on my rig when hold as dont take up real estate and can retain while shooting tried the Push offside but went back to carrying two TDIs trained with southnarc but never been fan of Clinchpick or the like
Thankfully, I’ve never had to use any of these knives on a person, so my experience is limited to just carrying. I think it’s important to find a tool that you’re comfortable with and gain proficiency with it, as you have. I know someone who carries 2 TDIs as well, one on each side for the respective hand.
Dude is definitely gay
Beautiful. I ordered mine in woodland Almost exactly the same way with 5in Cummerbund and the Large pocket instead of 2 smaller. I have 7.5 weeks left till they ship and I am dying to get my hands on it.
Woodland is the next camo pattern that I’m eyeing to get. Will this be your first plate carrier, or do you have experience with others?
@@LegacyInsights51No, I've had countless cheapies and a few K19s from agilite. In coyote and MCB. they are comfortable but after seeing what defense mechanisms is about and the quality of their gear I decided to have one made. I am beyond excited.
The ONLY issue I have is that if I want to add something, or have a different cummerbund made etc, I have to wait a while to get it shipped
I see. My issue with the K19 is the excess material around the shoulder straps where your shoulder pocket would be; makes it hard for me to shoulder a rifle in a consistent spot. I don’t have that issue with the MEPC.
@@LegacyInsights51 definitely had the same issue myself. I found a little bit of a sweet spot with it. But it was by no means comfortable. Definitely messed with my shooting a little.
What a great video and clean setup. I will definitely be buying a DM belt
Thank you! Let me know what you think of it when you get yours.
This is a great informative video , thank you l actually went out purchased all you're recommended items, thank you. I also subscribed to your channel.
Thank you for the kind words! And I hope these items serve you as well as they do me.
Excellent video. However maybe next time have a seat. That was an awkward watch having your crotch staring at me for 15 minutes 😂. BTW I have and love the ka bar tdi folder
Would you recommend the SOCP dagger or the clinch pick for EDC carry? I almost always wear a belt on me, expect for certain cases. The SOCP sounds great for when I’m not wearing a belt, but I feel like it would just poke me in my gut when I’m sitting down. Let me know your thoughts and advice. Thanks!
I find myself using the Clinch Pick for EDC much more than any other knife. The concealability and blade deployment of the Clinch Pick make it for a superior EDC blade, in my opinion. The one thing that the SOCP has over the Clinch Pick, is the capability to deploy the blade with either hand. Due to the Clinch Pick’s design, it favors one hand over the other, although you could technically deploy it with either hand, it just won’t have the same orientation. I hope this helps, and thanks for watching!
@@LegacyInsights51 Thank you! Just ordered my clinch pick last night!
@@brogolli that’s awesome! Let me know how it works out for you.
It sounds like you are going to be carrying belt was quite a bit. I'd recommend looking at the Omni sheath that shivworks sells. It can be set up with a DCC clip and attached directly to your waistline
Why didn’t you weave all the Molly thru the vent slots? I see a few pouches wrapping around the belt , taking away from the Velcro contact.
Good question. The ones you see that way are wrapped with Velcro one-wrap, which allows you to mount it that way without losing Velcro contact.
Do you use this setup for LE duty?
Yes.
whats the main differences between this and the regular one? and is it worth it jn your opinion?
The main difference is the forearm pocket. If you have no need for that extra storage, I’d go for the original combat shirt. The reason I got this one was because they were out of stock of the original in the colors I wanted. This is a fantastic quality top and I highly recommend either version.
Hand cuff key is for so u don’t have to Goto jail?
As I mentioned in the video, the key is more versatile than just to simply unlock handcuffs.
Due to my countries legislation i cant legally own neither a push dagger nor the KABAR tdi (authorities consider it a push dagger as it mimics its function). I mostly carry short bladed knifes with a ring at the grips end. To ensure concealment and quick acces i tuck it through my belt and belt loop grip down at an diagonal angle right besides the belt buckle (same as with a clinch pick). The sheaths are secured either through friction with rubberbands around them or by hooking them on the top edge of the belt with a hook at the end of the sheath. In my opinion your carrying method for the socp is impractical. Youll most likely use it when somebody grapples you which will make it hard to access something which is basically under your armpit ..especially when youre lying on your back.
Thank you for your input and great insight into your situation. I understand what you mean about my SOCP use. To clarify, the SOCP is almost exclusively a secondary knife, because, and I failed to mention this, I use the clinch pick on my belt even when I have a plate carrier on. The SOCP is would be a used on a case-by-case basis (if someone grabs the rifle or other tools and I need to create more space quickly, etc.), The clinch pick is my go to for a grappling situation. But at the end of the day it’s all about showing different options and strategies. I really appreciate your comment and thoughtful critique.
Have you looked at the CRKT SDN? It can be held with the rounded end of the handle tucked into the palm, thus 'functioning' as a push dagger... but it doesn't 'look' like one.
@@yishnir I’ve just checked it. Looks like a mostly edc knife to me. The grip retention must be great. However I don’t believe that you can use it properly as a push dagger. The blade is too long and the grip area would be to small to provide enough stability. In fact the designers of the push dagger in the video above deviated from the classic push dagger design exactly to tackle such issues.
@r.h5550 Thanks for taking the time to look. I mentioned it because I didn't understand how it could be a push dagger when I first saw it. There's a video by the designer demonstrating the less-intuitive grip, and perhaps a couple other videos that don't have many views, which show it. Anyway, I don't have one yet, but it's on my 'eventually' list... and I'm not suggesting it replaces the larger push daggers, I just haven't seen anything else with quite the same design concept.
Anyone that has the leave home with a gun tells me all i need to know about the individual. Sad Sad person there’s just no need. If you say it’s for self defence move the fuck away from that area. Americans & Guns are a whole fucked up society
Well, that’s certainly an opinion.
Thank you for reviewing all these knives. Better than porn
Happy to help. And thanks for watching!
Do you live in a war zone? One small pistol on your hip is not enough? Who is going to handcuff you?
No, but I’m glad you asked; in the video I talk about how the key can be used for more than just unlocking a handcuff.
@@LegacyInsights51 Why don't you just get yourself a basic leatherman multi tool and call it a day? I've never met a human being in my life that carries a key for a handcuff
@@residuevideos And that’s the beauty of platforms like this; you get to see what other people use that you would otherwise never meet, and get to judge for yourself whether it will work for you or not. The Learherman idea is great and I keep one in my vehicle. But I keep a handcuff key on my keychain because I’ve found multiple uses for it so I always have one on my person when I’m out and about.
@@LegacyInsights51 Awesome. Good luck and make sure to use it if you ever get arrested.
Craigslist dominatrix?🤷♂️
I just buy surefire
SureFire is a great option and they make robust and durable products. Thanks for watching.
Handcuff key and kevlar line? Are you into BDSM? And I have to deduct you points for not carrying a Swiss Army knife.
Haha, thanks for the watch, man. Cheers!
Cool video!!! Do you find that the goon tape or whatever you are using helps with grip on your Glocks??
Thanks for the watch, man. It’s hockey tape, which gets grippier when your hands are wet from sweat, rain, etc.
The only thing that screams wannabe louder than bolting every "tactical" gizmo known to man onto one's pistol is carrying a handcuff key, LOL...
Thanks for the helpful feedback, my guy.
@@LegacyInsights51be realistic... you're not deploying to Fallujah, LOL...
Uncalled for. Everyone knows that gun nutz mounted on a glock will counteract and stabilize the coriolis effect when creating a firing solution for targets greater than seven yards.
Come on Grandpa, time to get back to the home. On the ride back can tell us all about how you carried an empty revolver and just had a single bullet in your pocket ‘just in case’
A weapon light, red dot, and compensator are pretty standard for an edc ccw handgun these days….. I know me personally, I don’t own a pistol that doesn’t have a red dot and weapon light on it at least. Several with comps, and a couple came with the comp and red dot from the factory
Appreciate the video, buddy. Thank you.
No problem at all. You guys make great stuff and people need to know about it.
They included the noodles because instead of buying groceries you bought those cool accessories worth $215 😂
Yeah, it’s pretty cool of them to recognize that I may need some help with dinner after that purchase 😆
Things I never leave home without would be my G19.5 (holster depends on the day and what errands I'm running, with or without an extra mag), POM pepper spray, minimalist slim wallet, streamlight microstream flashlight, and a pocket knife or two! :)
Can’t go wrong with any of that. Thanks for sharing! You run any optics or lights on your G19?
@@LegacyInsights51 Running an SCS MOS and a TLR-7A with my rig. Works great for me!
@@doanerific9908 nothing wrong with those choices, I just prefer a stronger light; I ran a TLR7A for a while before I switched to the X300. How do you like the SCS?
@@LegacyInsights51absolutely NO lights or optics on my carry gun... instead of bolting a bunch of junk on it, I spend that money on practice ammo & don't feel the need for crutches to feel confident in my shooting skills... Murphy's Law dictates that any extra doo-dads will fail in an emergency...also makes my carry Mod 19 MUCH more comfortable to carry, LOL & easier to conceal... YMMV....
@@jeffanon1772 I’m glad that works for you, brother. Thanks for the watch and the input.
never thought a handcuff key could be so useful lol
It is a nifty little tool, for sure.
@@LegacyInsights51 carrying a handcuff key is illegal in florida, but legal in almost all the other states for some reason 😅
@@LordDemonkyo Very interesting. When looking it up, according to Florida Statute 843.021 (7), you can own a handcuff key, but if you are getting arrested, it is a felony not to disclose to law enforcement that you have one on you. That being said, thank you for bringing this up, I had no idea.
Great video! Which antenna are you running?
Thank you! It’s the Motorola PSM 700/800.
Great video explaining and links provided. Was curious about the DM handcuff pouch and your video explained it best by far. Much appreciated, keep it up
I appreciate the feedback, and I’m glad you found it helpful.
Recently got into modlites, I like the compatibility with the surefire and aftermarket parts
And that’s really one of their greatest selling points, in my opinion. The Cloud would beat every other light out of the water if they didn’t insist on their limited proprietary tailcaps.
Nice set up, like the dump pouch tucked under the mag.
How long was the lead time?
It varies, depending on how many items and the time of year you order; holidays are peak ordering season so it takes longer. But generally they stay within the 5-8 weeks time and I’ve always received my stuff at least a week before the estimated time.
@@LegacyInsights51 I think it was an Ig post but someone said they were at the 10 week mark….
@@CH0PSV1LLE I just checked on their website and its an 8-week lead time currently. They push it to 10-12 weeks during Christmas time.
@@LegacyInsights51 ohhhh ok….
Good piece of kit. Helpful review. Subscribed. 🎉
Thanks for sub and the kind words. I really appreciate it!
How does the tegris insert compare to Kydex inserts from brands like Esstac with their kywi lineup? I'm building a new battle belt setup (in Wolf Grey bc why not) and want to ensure it is as up-to-date as possible.
The tegris holds up phenomenally well. It’s also lighter and thinner than kydex. The only negative I’ve noticed is that it reflects light much more than kydex, but there is such little tegris material exposed on these pouches that you would need to be fairly close to notice it, so it should not be an issue for you unless you’re trying to sneak into the Kremlin or something. I believe Wolf Grey is an underrated color, for sure.
The chapters are so helpful!
Finally figured it out! Thanks for watching.
I was just about to say the tailor thing
I’m actually in the process of getting some Velcro to get it sewn on by a tailor. I’ll add update once I do that to show how it came out.

I really like the right angle adapter. Super convenient.
Nice setup!
Glad you think so! Thanks for watching!
How did you fix the gascap from causing flickering/failure to activate? I did not note a solution in this video, even given the title?
The GASCAP wasn’t the problem; it was the solution. The flickering issue came from the SureFire DS00 tailcap. Once I switched to the GASCAP, the issue went away.
@@LegacyInsights51 interesting. They've been trash for me. 2 in 3 dont work reliably so far. Unity has no insight as to why
@@UnobtaniumsQuickReviews What lights do you have them mounted on? I’m planning on getting a second one for another Modlite I have.
@@LegacyInsights51 None, now. I had failures with 2 Surefire bodies, and a Reptilia Torch using 2 modlite heads and an m600v head. The tailcaps just suck, basically. So I sent one to Unity. They couldn't fimd a flaw but sent me a replacement, which does work as intended. I still need to send them my second defective tailcap. A friend of mine also has this issue. Unity has refused to reply to my inquiry if they had a bad batch or not, so I've discontinued use of these products until further notice.
