BERENGARIA HOTEL - THE ABANDONED HOTEL OF KINGS.
At the heart of Prodromos lies the Berengaria Hotel, a legendary site steeped in mystery and grandeur. Built in 1931, this architectural masterpiece was once the pinnacle of luxury hospitality in Cyprus. Often referred to as the “Hotel of Kings,” it hosted illustrious guests like King Farouk of Egypt and Winston Churchill. The hotel’s grand halls and terraces, once alive with the music and laughter of the elite, now stand as a haunting yet mesmerising monument to the past.
Though abandoned in 1984, the Berengaria’s weathered stone façade and imposing silhouette continue to draw visitors, fuelling local legends and ghost stories. The hotel’s legacy lingers in the whispers of the wind that passes through its empty corridors, adding to the village’s enigmatic charm. Prodromos and the Berengaria remain timeless symbols of Cyprus’s rich history, beckoning adventurers and history enthusiasts alike to uncover their secrets.
