    I’m so glad I found this video!! I have had my Portrait 3 for about 6 weeks and there isn’t a lot of videos for the machine I have. However, I bought mostly cricut matte and the foil adhesive or oracle 651. And I literally feel so dumb for not realizing the matte was thicker. I haven’t had a lot of good cuts and I even considered returning my machine, but I’ve decided to just watch/read as much as I can about what cut settings are best and when to use what type of vinyl. So thank you for sharing!! 💕🥰🌸🦋

    This video is EXACTLY what I was looking for! Thank you so much for this!! I have a few questions, and I apologize in advance if you already mentioned these in the past: 1. Will this method also work on with the Cricut Joy? 2. Will the vinyl that you used work on putting them on ribbons? Thank you so much!!!

    • @mjcreativeco.2650
      @mjcreativeco.2650 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! To answer your questions - yes, it’ll work with the Cricut joy as long as the design you cut is small enough. But the Cricut joy can definitely cut vinyl. And I would not recommend permanent vinyl for ribbon. Ribbon is fabric, so it will not stick to fabric. I would recommend heat transfer vinyl instead - but beware, a lot of ribbons (like ones from the craft store) are synthetic and would melt with a heat press when you try to apply the HTV. You’d have to find a cotton ribbon or something that wouldn’t melt

    Love the design but can you tell me what your settings are, as I’ve tried every setting including now washi taper more pressure using my Cricut Maker and the 651 glossy vinyl snd my cuts are not clear. You pulled it away so easily snd my thin cuts like yours are lifted snd gets damaged every single time. Thank you.

    • @mjcreativeco.2650
      @mjcreativeco.2650 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Sheryl! I typically use my regular vinyl setting (Vinyl on the Cricut), unless I’m noticing that it’s cutting through the paper behind it, then I use one setting less than that. If you’re noticing that it’s not completely cutting through your vinyl, try “Vinyl +,” or keep increasing it until it cuts through but doesn’t cut through the backing and you can easily pull up the negative space. Make sure that your blade is sharp (you do have to replace them every once in a while - i replace mine twice a year usually, but I also use the Cricut mostly only for vinyl - if you’re doing a lot of cardstock/heavier materials, you’ll need to replace it more often) and your mat doesn’t have too much debris on it. If you’re getting a lot of ripples in the vinyl, it may be because your blade isn’t sharp enough!

    • @DollsandEverythingElse
      @DollsandEverythingElse 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mjcreativeco.2650 thanks for responding. I’m going to change my blade but I have the Maker and you can junky change the setting to more pressure and there are tons of vinyl settings. I selected permanent or premium and more pressure and it still didn’t work so someone said to try washi tape and more pressure snd this worked better but the negative still does not lift away easily. I’ll change my blade and try again. Thank you.

    Thanks for posting this. We've had some problems with curved surfaces, but I think this will help ALOT. At about the 2:13 point, you are using a tool that is not a typical weeder. It looks to have more of a flat surface. What is that, and what do you use it for? Thank you!!

      Michael O hi there! It was an xacto blade! I use it to make weeding a little easier (so I’m not pulling up all of it and some getting stuck in the little crevices that calligraphy has). This especially helps with thin lines or small calligraphy so I’m focused on one spot at a time :)

    Thank you for this tutorial! Just got a Cricut and trying to make it work. I was wondering how did you get that little grey window with the position to appear at the bottom of your text (@ 4:23 in our video) For me it appears at the top left corner so if I push my text at the top, it gets hidden :-( Thank you

      Hi there! I just went into my Cricut design space - and mine is in the top left corner as well now so it must be an update issue with Cricut. I don’t often use that exact of measurement, I just use the grid lines, so it doesn’t bother me. But if you’re trying to get it to an exact size (not just in 1/2” or 1/4” measurements, which you can see on the grid easily), just move the item over so you can see the top left corner and resize

    • @mjcreativeco.2650
      @mjcreativeco.2650 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      jenlelandmj if you are inputting an image without a transparent background, you will need to remove those pieces after uploading (there is an edit stage that comes up after you select it to edit it). Otherwise, once you import it, look at the layers on Design Space and see if those are coming up as a separate piece, delete them! Hope that helps :)

      Rubi Soto Hi! Most website that have graphics have rules for commercialization - and it depends on each website/designer. Most require a release or additional charge if you want to use it to sell a large amount of products. If you create custom invites, and you’re only using the graphics for a few pieces, you should be able to use them without an extended license. And this series of videos cover almost all of what I would discuss about printables (I don’t do many anyways) so I probably will not create a video about it, but thank you!
