The First Halo is the Best One - Halo: Combat Evolved Campaign Analysis
Halo: Combat Evolved is one of the most important and influential shooters of all time. And it also happens to be one of my favorite video games of all time. So I pulled out my old xbox and decided to make a 4 and a half hour long video analyzing its single player campaign in its entirety.
So if you’ve (somehow) never played this game before, or are a long time fan wanting a refresher on what happens, I hope you enjoy 🙏

    It was done to save on resources, time, an processing. But also it was buying time to help the game load the outside. Halo CE was made by like, ten people. Back when there wasn't any fancy tools that could speed up the process or help compress the data like we have today. So they found ways the buy time so the game can load heavily resource intensive parts with out a loading screen or cut screen. There are a few maps in CE that do the same thing just not as bad as this part.

      @grooben8412 i do too but i dont make videos complaining about a game that had to make do with what they had at the time, and making videos that criticize older games like this is just pointless cuz most gamers know that the processing power we had back then wasnt the greatest, but it was the best they had at the time, and i dont have a problem with pointing out some of the flaws of a game, let alone making fun of it, but when you complain about it knowing how old gen it is, its the dumbest thing you can do, especially when knowing the problem lies within it being old gen

    Sat here and watched/listened this thing while playing monster hunter generations on my switch. CE is a great game, prolly my 2nd fav halo game other than 3. i LOVE the concept of the flood lore wise and every flood stage in this game is fun for me. ive watched alot of retrospectives for this game and this is def the most entertaining. idk if ur gonna do one on halo 2 but i cant IMAGINE how long that will be considering how crazy long the cutescenes are. (im typing this before the end of the video so idk if u say anything about halo 2) IF u decide on doin halo 2 right after this ur a madman, but ima be here either way cause im subbing. nice work bruh

    Halo: CE being "one of the most important and influential shooters of all time" is very accurate. If it could be said that DOOM is the great-grandfather, and Goldeneye is the grandfather of the shooter genre, then certainly Halo: CE is the father of the modern first person shooter. Its influence is such that various elements of its gameplay are cemented into even contemporary FPS games, over two decades later; too many aspects to mention in one TH-cam comment, ranging from technological or mechanistic executions of the gameplay, to more artistic considerations, even in discussions about the technical aspects of how combat is conducted in a FPS in development, are among those things that aren't even referenced in relation to Halo: CE any longer, since they have become status quo for players' expectations for how a FPS game should play. A pivotal video game, one of the most important of all time.

    Here's a fun fact about Stage 5. Did you know that none of the samples used in the first stage are used in any other track in An Empty Bliss Beyond this World, *or* Everywhere at the End of Time? This is because, as the description for stage 5 states, "The unfamiliar may sound and feel familiar". Even the moments of clarity are not tracks from EatEoT. The clarity isn't perfect, but it's like the mind finds something to focus on for a second, like some music presently playing, before being plunged back into chaos.

    We have to remember Dementia isn't just forgetting stuff. In a more technical sense, it's obstructing and destroying your synapses with plaque. Similar to how a heart attack works, when plaque blocks the arteries, cells start dying and the muscle becomes much less efficient. So in a way, Dementia/Alzheimers is a very very very slow stroke.

    As someone who doesn't have the time to listen to the whole album through, but knows the ending, I have studied it as much as I could by watching MULTIPLE TH-cam videos just to know the intensity of it. And I can tell that if I listened to it in my mental state, I'd probably lose myself. Yet I study this and the topic of dementia over and over because despite not being able to listen, this album has become a special interest of mine. I can't seem to stop thinking about it...and I think it would get worse if I did

    At 1:00:14 - My thought on the artwork for Stage 5 was of a couple in 1920s aristocratic wear, where the lady is above with her fan, and the man is below, with his cane. They are embracing on the stairs.

  • @melodie-allynbenezra8956
    @melodie-allynbenezra8956 ปีที่แล้ว

    At 11:37 - My father has a form of dementia. We all missed Stage 1, but based on your analysis of the looping... I remember that Dad would have almost identical "conversations," where he would describe his political outlook on a handful of issues. The fact that we went to a different restaurant, or were with different people didn't really matter. It was practically the exact same words, with the exact same highlights, with the exact same emphasis. The fact that my brother and I might have heard the same refrain 37 times before wasn't really a factor. Now, in my family, we tell stories. I am an author - a professional story teller, if you will. And as you tell stories, there is a rhythm to them, the part you emphasize to draw a crescendo of interest, and then peak at the climax of the story. So... When Dad told his stories, or shared his political views, the fact that he shared the same theme, same rhythm, practically the same words... It didn't hit as a stage of dementia, but rather as "Dad's telling his story again." It's hard to see Stage 1, but if you know what you are looking for... hindsight is 20/20.

      Nowadays I'm very experienced about the songs in this album, even in Stages 4-6. Songs are placed into Layers, and Layers make up a 4-6 track. My pfp is actually the first artist you hear when starting stage 5, the voice you hear in the right is his.

    Stage 3 felt like my brain was just trying to catch up to be honest. I could hear what was trying to come through because we heard it before...some of it anyway. But my brain couldnt put it together. Anything after stage 4 is a scrambled mess that leads to simply trying to COPE with what you have going on in your head - as an audio, it is terribly confusing (and very clever at the same time)
