Hitonhauta is a gorge situated in Laukaa. The nature surrounding the gorge is overwhelming and has also much of rare species of plantation around it. This video is from my trip to Hitonhauta and of the music improvisation at the cave there. If you happen to be in central Finland, this is one of the places you should definitely give a visit!

So nice and satisfaction to watch every move of make an unique drum! Thank you from Thailand HAMY.

Awsome!
What a great video, thank you! I’m just in the process of getting the materials to birth my first drum. I love that phrase “birthing a drum”
Wanna be vikings 😂
Thank you for sharing 🙏🏼
I appreciate your kindness in sharing.
Absolutely love the name luv ❤️
Te falta más explicación
are you able to lay holey night for exemple or only 'libre' song like jazz jack 47 71
you look like russian 10:41
Great video but I don't understand where you could buy a deer leather? It's a special store in your city?
I live in Finland on the border of Lapland, so I have many contacts to buy leather from. The leather for this specific drum I bought from "Kemin Nahkatarvike" store in Kemi, Finland
@HÄMY I wish I would visit Finland some day! That's the country of beautiful crafts 😍
Is that leather rawhide?
Yes
Love your video… May help keep wood submerged in water…..put a heavy plate on top of water/ bark and then a clean rock on top of plate…..this should help!
Reminder that this is indigenous culture . And it is heavily a closed practices. May I ask if it is apart of your culture or religion. Is this something spiritual to you.
Captivating music and video.
🖤
I will never complain about the cost of hand dump again.
So cool thanks!
Gyönyörű hangja van😍
What time off wood is it?

Hi Hamy Thanx for the simple explenations. Have started to make one but missing the notes so, pls if you don't mind guiding me to get the toungue drum done :-)
The sizes of the tongues are in description 👍🏻😊
@@hamy_music_finlandlovely, appreciated
I wish my phones were of better quality to appreciate better this piece of art!! AMAZING
🔥🔥🔥
Amazing video! I watched it when I was making my first drum, now I'm watching again to make my second one better! Thanks for sharing this information
Huh, was looking for drum head materials and found a dye recipe.
Highly respect your effort 👍🏻
It's amazing, homemade musical instruments, the most amazing video I've seen this year
Thank you. That was a great tutorial!!Nice work
Moikka!
Ainakin toukokuussa on tulossa Rovaniemellä 14.-15.5. Lapin metsämuseolla kurssi, ja niitä on ympäri Suomea. Etköhän näillä pääse alkuun. Pidä silmät auki ja tutki mikä on sun kohdallas paras reitti. Kulje sitten sitä kohti :)
Tulee alkukantaisten heimojen musiikit mieleen tästä! Omalaatuista ja tilaukseen meni!
Watched the video in x2 speed, loved the drumming in the end, like acoustic psytrance!
Best tutorial ive seen so far on how to do this... Thanks so much. Can finally do it
Glad you liked it!
@@hamy_music_finland seriously.. Grateful for the description and tongue sizes and notes etc... Every other video as great as they are is missing something.. So i could never really confidently make one with tongues printed out and all... Awesome.. This is what TH-cam is all about🙏
@@hamy_music_finland I have one question regarding the notes...I only see 7 on the scale but on your drum you have more than 7 ...please explain this ...because I have no idea. You only have 7 notes on each scale ...but you have 9 notes on the actual instrument...I really would like to understand ...because I won't be able to make one without those other 2 notes I guess and also understanding why they were omitted out of the description
@@GovanBassonTotalkaosMotion The instructions are not "perfect" either, because the lenght also depends on the thickness of the steel. If you want to make more tongues to the scale, you have to just find them with the tuner. The tongues have the same width in the octaves they are in, but you just cut the lenght so that it is in the scale you want
So what I mean is do not take the descriptions of the sizes as "specific" as mentioned here. I have made many drums after this first drum, and what I keep in mind is that the width is the same and you can add as many tongues as the drum can fit. You just cut them to match the note you want. This you find with the tuner. Have fun and try :)
hi! nice tutorial , today i make my first little drum , how much time to dry the skin ?
My ears... Great job and so bad sound. It's a can and sounds like a can. Here is one th-cam.com/video/0HdIhrYVud0/w-d-xo.html
Thank you so much for sharing. Your throat singing sounds great. Best to you in all that you create!
From where i can but leather?
Great video! I'm about to make my own framedrum, what kind of wood did you use?
On this drum I used aspen if I remember correctly
It’s very Turkish.
Fantastiskt!
Very cool video! But what is "alumen"?
😂😂😂
Women use it to tighten their 🐈 😂
How can we repair extra cutting while tuning the keys.. can we weld the extra cutting
You mean when you cut too much? Then you have to make the tongue smaller by filing it as shown in the video. I have not tried welding it, but I think that is not the best idea :) if you try welding please tell me how it turned out
@@hamy_music_finland yes tomorrow i will try to fix it with the help of Welding.. hopeing for the best result .. Send me your email id i will send you vedio
@@syedimrandelhi hamymusiikki@outlook.com
@@hamy_music_finland result is perfect but i have to temper the the drum , so i m going to nitride process
Hyvä video, kiitos! Ainut ongelma itsellä on tuollaisen nahkanahan löytäminen.. Jos on antaa vinkkejä mistä sellaista saisi niin otan vastaan!
Esimerkiksi Kemin nahkatarvike Oy 👍🏻 kiitos kommentista!
Wau!

i'm a bit saddened that you used the native american way of putting the skin on the frame instead of sewing through the wooden frame sewing the skin onto it :(
It is also the way the Sami people of Finland used to put it on the frame
@@hamy_music_finland surely not because i saw sami drums and all of those drums had holes drilled into the frame which means the skin was sewn onto the frame.
@@szeklergeneral4266 Now I have a bit more time to answer since I am not at work. Sorry for the previous answer which was so short. The people of Sami for my understanding had multiple tribes which all had their own way to give birth to a drum. One of these ways was as you mentioned was the sewing of the leather, but what I have been taught here in Finland was also the tying behind the back of the drum. This was depending on the tribe. The problem is that almost every single one of the drums made by the Fenno-Scandic Sami people are destroyed due to Christianity. The pagan cultures of the north and their traditions were almost fully erased when Christianity by force became the ruling force here. Also the harsh winters helped in the fact that many drums were destroyed only by snow and ice. Anyways as it comes for this specific drum in the video, this is the first drum I made for myself two years ago. I completely followed the instructions of my teacher, ofcourse with some exceptions with color etc. I try to make the drum so that it is not specifically any "style" or doesn't have any traditional meaning for anyone. I do not use symbols or anything, and everything I make is fully organic, so that I respect the drum and its history. I have made several drums after this one, with different styles. This is the only drum I have tied behind the back. I do thank you for your comment, because it made me think. I will take history and culture into consideration when making these, and I do hope that all the people who make drums respect the history and traditions behind them. This video is also made to inspire people about different cultures and to gain knowledge. If we do not talk about these things, they will be forgotten. Thanks :) Edit: I had a spelling mistake: trives -> tribes
Great tutorial, thank you!
Wow great vocals give a tutorial 💪
Thank you so much! I might do that some time. It is Tuvan throatsinging. Check out music videos from my channel 😊 have a nice day
I was curious about the skin itself, how it got so thin? What it's called and how one can make them?
The skin I used on this drum is reindeer skin. It is a lot thinner than for example moose or cow skin, that's also why it is good on this size frame drums. Thicker ones would easily become too tight, and strain the frame
@@hamy_music_finland thanks, what is the method to create that out of animal hide?
@@i3130002 google "tanning reindeer skin". There is information in the internet, and probably videos of the process :) I am not going into details in this comment. Hope this helps.
Amazing! Thank you for sharing
