AM Mode With Brother Eric KK4TVR.
มุมมอง 374 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
Eric KK4TVR is receiving and using an Icom IC7300 with a Symetrix 528E for transmit compression. The 7300 alone does not allow compression in AM mode. I apologize for the low resolution video from my brother.

What’s the model number on the Bogen? I think I’ve seen you on Cloudy Nights too?
@@matthewtrail2538 manfrotto. Not critical
Reed Bingham is a nice place. Ha - fishing for kids. Only in the South. Thanks for sharing this park, Philip.
It's Chameleon, like the lizard.
@mediocreman2 yeah...you're not to first! :)
Simplicity is the way to go , Thanks 73 KC3ZDW
KF9R, Ed is a good op! Nice contact & 73
What an absolute beauty of a set up and that AM valve sound it’s beyond words
This guy still communicating via Morse Code 😭
Since 1979. And still loving it.
@@Philip-KA4KOE Nah but I genuinely respect the hell out of this though, I tried to use an online Morse code paddle and I, for the life of me, couldn't even spell out "SOS" to save my life 💀 dope ass hobby
Morse code is radio on hard mode. It is actually growing, which is kind of cool. You can send direct radio to radio links around the world (no internet) and experience the 'Vulcan mind-meld' only Morse can give you. It is a trip. Easy to learn. Impossible to master. It is the ultimate addiction.
Try modern communication
Why? This mode actually takes skill, intelligence, coordination, and perseverance. Or, I could hook up my GETAC F110 and numb my mind with FT8 (which I've tried).
@Philip-KA4KOE why ... Because it's way simpler
@@ferv888 Some people like spinach and some don't. Similar situation. We all play radio our own way for enjoyment. Actually, I can send morse (if I was so inclined), with a very simple radio that I handbuilt with no more than 5 transistors and assorted passive components. No computers, nothing but the radio, antenna, battery, and key. It doesn't get simpler than that. I've used and tried most of the digital modes and have that capability. RTTY, FT8, FT4. PSK31, JS8 Call, VARA-HF (Winlink), VARac (chat mode), SSTV, WSPR. All have their place. Some days one might want to play SSB, or CW, or digital.
@Philip-KA4KOE i get it dude it's impressive... But why go trough the struggle
@@ferv888 Why do folks climb mountains? Similar response...because its there.
Banana (also what)
No clue whats going on but it looks and sounds cool asfk also banana 🍌😂
Radio fun is what's going on!
Good luck❤
Sorta cheating with two hands no? I’ve always played (and only ever seen it played) one hand only
can you share the amazon links for the pole mount you are using thanks
Varies for vehicle. You will need a hitch riser and maybe hitch extenders plus anti-vibration clamps. Pole mounts are off etsy.
Is that a belfry?
Near Keller fishing dock.
No it's a dock piling with metal cover.
@@Philip-KA4KOE it's a belfry.... because it has bats in it.
Philip, I remember doing that with my son Sean when down at the Isle of Hope marina. Neat to see them come out to feed.
Correction 76 is first year they came out. I just double checked the serial number, he is part of the first 77 batch. My bad. 😅
What is this device lol
Nice Place to POTA 💯👍
keep your powder dry
Very cool TKS GL73
Nice setup. A couple of quick questions: What gauge wire are you using for that antenna? The Spiderpole doesnt look like its bending much at all. And how has it worked for your portable ops so far? I ordered the 12m Spiderpole for similar purpose and then found your video a day later. 73
Need to have them myself....💯👌
Enjoyed it!
Thank you!
I have the exact same combo of 897D and AT-897 plus. I bought it used when I got back into ham radio over a decade ago, and it's still working well. It's not my main rig anymore, but still gets regular use in my alternate shack. It's definitely due for a PM cycle and some cosmetic TLC.
Looks to be dialed in well. I've never tried a delta loop, so I'm interested in this project -- thanks for sharing. I appreciate your videos. They're short, to the point, and actually talk about what's in the title. 73 de N8ESP

how long that take to set up?
At least the scale didn't say "one person at a time please"
Thank you for the video! I am not new to RTTY or contesting but I am new to the g90. I am taking on the task of interfacing the g90 with N1MM/MMTTY and I will be using the Timewave Navigator as my hardware interface. Once I am successful with this task, I will be sharing it with Brandon at Timewave so it will help them with producing their Master Cable Architecture...like I did with the Icom 9700, the Navigator and N1MM/MMTTY. QUESTION for You: In interfacing your g90 and MMTTY - Were your Rig settings straight forward and does MMTTY have the Xiegu g90 listed as a Known Usable rig??
No. The program is old. I had to wing it.
Hey Phillip, I used to 'chat' with you on eham. I recently bought a Xeigu G106 and have been looking at videos on YT when I noticed you commented on one, so I found your channel. I hope all is well, Steve G7HEU.
Great design. Very light and portable.
Nice tips with the tubes and the spike at the bottom.
Glad you liked it!
Now that's awesome!
It sure is!
great video, thanks for sharing! de KI5KGT
Well, I know where mine are going. 👍🏼
Bro really said ._._.._.._.._._.._.
Whut?
May I ask the reason for wanting to get the coil off the ground more with the Buddistick extender?
Get the high current point higher up to lower losses. Its all radio magic....may have helped. May not have helped.
Where did you get that tripod I like it ? Thanks Kevin
Bogen Manfrotto. It's old.
Hello...i have one 12 meters long...very nice pole...for portable operations...
Very good pole!
That tripod looks good. I need to find one of them. Thanks for the informative presentation.
Bogen makes good tripods.
Elevated radials are far superior if antenna location permits.
True.
Lemme suggest a DIY alternative. How about a sideswiper key using a <$10 Harbor Freight feeler gauge set. Amazing tunabiluty! I prefer a light feel, so i use the .015" strip. YMMV depending on your preferences. BTW, my all time fav is a W8FYO single set at 5g per dyno. 73 de NM9X
A dummy load with telscoping whips.
Not really. Only about 1.3 dB loss if you did your research. No antenna with a broadband transformer or any transformer is loss free. Check the losses of your typical 49:1 unun used in EFHW antennas...not a lot of difference and sometimes worse. It's a one half dozen or the other. This aerial made good contacts during the severe G5 storm awhile back.
If you just sent your whole call two or 3 times to him it probably would have gone better, earlier.
Probably
@@Philip-KA4KOE With more experienced CW ops what you did should be fine and almost always is enough, but it seemed to confuse him :-)
I was sharing your experience but saw it a bit differently. Instead of "raising hell", call me sanctimonious, but saw it as aggressive cleansing rain from the heavens. Hell is from below.❤
To-may-to, to-mah-to, po-tay-to, po-tah-to, let's call the whole thing off.
What's that adapter you have plugged into the mic socket?
It's an rj45 extender. This widget protects the radio's mike jack.
@@Philip-KA4KOE Thanks. 👍🏼
