What You Need to Know Before Starting a Website Project
The blank template option is no longer available on SS unless you are a Circle member -- which means you have to have done 3 websites. I am trying just to learn to do one. If SS wants to grow its customer base, they will put the blank template back as an option.
I thought you were about to save my sanity - but sadly your video doesn't apply to a Squarespace Business plan, only a Commerce plan! I can't understand why something as basic as different items having different shipping costs isn't possible on ALL selling plans. BTW, is anyone else fed up that it's almost impossible to email the 'award-winning customer services' without first completing something like an online Spanish Inquisition - and when you've done that the 'available 24/7' service takes up to a week to respond?!
@@martinrogers8226 I did this example on a Business plan!
If you want someone to pay when they book an appointment, and you use Squarespace, do you have to connect to Calendly or Acuity? And that requires another monthly fee?
Is there an option to pull a payment report on square space and upload into quick books to see the date, transactions and fees?
Hello! Thank you for your all your tutorials; I have been learning a lot so far. For the express checkout, I'm having some issues. Im toggling the express checkout option under the cart options, but it still show add the basket on the button. Do you know why this is happening?
how long before you get the first payment to your bank?
The main thing with H1's is not to get fancy. Think about what someone would type in to find your page. Use what THEY would type in and not industry jargon. I like to use "Answer the Public" to see what questions someone might ask about your product or service.
I would be intentional about how you choose to write your SEO meta title (site title). (where you are talking about Lalana's website) I wouldn't put one thing in intending to go back and change it as your products change. I would find a good SEO keyword phrase for your home page that you won't need to change (unless it isn't bringing you traffic). If you go back later and change your site title and it had good SEO then you chance losing that SEO keyword ranking and all of of a sudden you will wonder why you aren't getting the same traffic. As far as the site description...you can use a longer meta description and Google WILL read it...they will just truncate it so that you (and other humans) don't see all of it. You would just want to put your most important keywords and phrases in the beginning. Think of your meta description as a tiny sales advertisement: ask questions, talk about pain points, give some authority info (like how long you've been in business or any kind of certifications or that type of thing.) As far as social media icons...you don't necessarily want those at the top of your website. If they landed on your website, you don't want to invite them to leave right away. Putting your social media at the bottom of your website (in the footer) is recommended. For your IG Feed...I'd recommend putting curated pictures instead of a live feed...so that it stays on brand with your website branding colors. You can make it linkable to your IG if they want to see the live feed.
As a beginner seller, is it best to set up a business checking account versus sending it to your personal checking account?
I'm not a financial professional, but my vote here is YES! Separate business account, especially for tax and accounting purposes.
I need steps on how to actually set up/create the Google Search Console account for a client :(
Wow, this is so helpful!!! Thank you so much!!!
This was very helpful as I’m just getting started. Thank you!
Is there a option for klarna payment on a service rather than a product.
I haven't tried setting up Klarna with a service, but here's what the Squarespace support page says: "At this time, it's not possible for customers to use Klarna to purchase subscriptions, donations, Digital Products, or access to monetized content such as member sites." It doesn't mention Services, so I'd recommend setting up on your site and testing it out at checkout to see what happens.
When i pay 75 annually for my space and invite someone else, why do i have to pay again? what is the logic.. Which means for my 5 personell i pay 75 euro a year for each person?
You paying for each separate inbox, which in turn also creates 5 separate Google Drive accounts, Calendars, etc.
thank you so much for sharing this!
What plan do you have? I don’t see some of the editing options on mine like to change it to different colors. Mine only has black and grey.
Colors aren't a "premium" feature of any kind. Do you have a color palette added in to your site with other colors? (I'm on the Business plan though)

I want to create a drop down button so people can select a different color of my shirt design. How do you incorporate that into your designed page???
When you add variants to a product (like sizing/color), the drop down(s) will generate automatically.
Hi, thank you so much for this tutorial! Super informative and it sold me to use Squarespace for our wedding website 🙂 I just wanted to ask if I can put a password to access the website and the RSVP page? For example on the RVSP page they'd need to type in their last name to access the page and they can just check who will be coming to their party instead of typing in their info?
@@brimtnz you can set a universal password for a page and then put an RSVP form where they type in their last name! Go to the settings of the page and you’ll find the place to add page password :-)
I followed this process, it shows that I am set up, however, I do not see it activated anywhere on my website? What did I miss? or do wrong?
When you say "activated" what exactly are you looking for?
Thank you for this tutorial! We're designing a website for a non-profit. The domain is with SquareSpace. We're waiting for Google Non-Profit to verify and approve. In the mean time we made the connection between SS and GoogleWorkspace thru the back end of SS, not from within SS. When I go to Settings>Domains & Emails>Google Workspace it isn’t showing the connection. Does SS works well with non-profits?
I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the non-profit status. A domain is a domain. If you didn't set it up through Settings... > Google Workspace, it won't show it to you there. Where did you initially make the connection?
Right outta the box, "going to my website and adding/config" does not work.
Try account.squarespace.com to login instead
Ooof. My problem is making the actual cart page not black (since I can't see my text). Thought that was this video lol
Thanks for the great tutorial. I recently signed up for your 6-month trial period and this was super helpful. I saw on the Settings part that I can make it Multilingual but only for 2000 words with Weglot. I don't need an automated translation. Is there a way to have all the website in 3 languages if I'm making the translations myself? I'm going to hit your store tutorials next. I hope you make a tutorial for making a blog on Squarespace with SEO optimization.
So easy.
Thanks for making this and helping me!
Please once i create a user via Squarespace how many email can i get from it...
is this 7.0 ? my interface looks nothing like this and when I add a variant and change the price, when i get to the product in store there is no variant and the price has changed as if i changed the original product.
Thanks for watching! If you'd like my Squarespace discount code or an extended free trial... head over to www.designingtherow.com/squarespace
This video is word salad
This was so helpful! Especially the part where you said "Just search for cart" that made my life so much easier! Thank you!
Yay so glad!
When I click on create website, It does not give me the option to select blank template. It automatically directs me to the template page.
Good to know! Maybe that's an advanced feature I have access to? I'm happy to set you up with one - www.designingtherow.com/squarespace... or you can pick a template and go through and delete all the pages and add in a blank new homeapge.
Try this: www.squarespace.com/templates/blank-fluid-demo
Thank you! This sorted that problem out. Now I have discovered another one🙃I was originally only selling fine art prints and incorporated the shipping into the cost of the print so it was free shipping. Now I'm selling Stickers and greeting cards and because they're so small i will need to include a standard shipping rate (as i would not ship a $3.50 sticker for free). I now realise that if they buy one fine art print (free shipping) and three stickers (standard rate) both shipping rates appear. Is there a way to override the standard rate and only have the free shipping appear. I am on commerce business. Thanks!
Hey! Maybe the automatic free shipping feature could help here? th-cam.com/video/pP9E2pZoY84/w-d-xo.htmlsi=RlncGeRf7-QcBU0v
Thank you for this! Sitemap all set up!

Excellent video. Thank you! You solved two of my problems. A blessing~!
For any other confused newbies like me, to find the Store config, start at the /config URL for your site, where you can see "Setup Guide", "Website", "Products & Services" etc in the left hand navigation menu, then under "Website" click "Pages", and in the list on the left you should then see "Store" with a little shopping cart icon. When I hover my mouse over the "Store" item, a settings cog icon appears next to it. Click the cog to open a popup "Store Settings" dialog, and in the General tab you should see the "URL SLUG" field, which for me defaulted to "/store-1". For some reason I had two "Store" items in my navigation, one that I'd created some products in with a slug of '/store-1', and a demo Store page that I think came with the template I selected that had a slug of "/store" and different products in that were example gift cards, again demo data. I could not change my Store page's slug to "/store" because that URL was already in use by the demo Store page. I deleted the default Store page (with the Bin icon next to it), then I could change the slug of my Store page to "/store".
Great video! I hope you get a chance to try the button or whatever you create next time so we can see how it’ll look like. 👍
UPDATE: Squarespace now has "Squarespace Payments" option. Watch here: th-cam.com/video/g7Bt9WrdavY/w-d-xo.html
I saw this too. I just accepted it but also the other options as well. I hope that was the right thing to do.

Hi, Question… is there a way to write or more colors available on products listed on the product page? Also, is there a way to change the thumbnail from just the two display pics to show all the colors?
Yes, you have have more than just colors as a variant (is this what you're asking) and you can upload an image for each separate variant as well. When you're in the edit mode where you see all details for all variants, there's a tiny spot to add an individual image for each.
Can i use other options than the ones listed on the website ? P.S it's a non-US business site
I'm releasing a new Squarespace Payments video this week (applicable for US, UK, and Canada), so stay tuned for that if you're in any of these areas! If you're not, then Stripe and PayPal will continue to be your options for the time being.
