I hope you guys enjoy my visual essay on Kim Kelly from the show Freaks and Geeks. The only thing I own here are the ideas. I am not stoked on the recording quality of the song itself but didn't feel inspired to fix it and thought it would be fun to make a little video !

Gods, I miss that show. Kim took a bit of time to grow on me when I first watched it, but her story is so poignant. The fact that she grows from going along with what Daniel wants to do as an escape from her family, mistrusting anyone who gets between her and Daniel and making fun of everyone around her, to embracing new music, new people, and taking some time away from Daniel to travel with Lindsey and the Deadheads...it's wonderful to see that kind of growth for her, and the ending of the show gives me hope that Kim Kelly's going to grow up and be okay. I'm so happy they didn't play the mean girl trope straight, either. It's overdone, and at least to me, doesn't feel at all real. Maybe I just wasn't around suppressed kids from rich families enough to run into them, but I can't remember knowing any stereotypical mean girls. Just a few kids who were fundamentally trying to get better and didn't know where to point their justified rage at a rough life, like Kim Kelly.
Thank you for the insightful comment <3 I agree, Kim feels like someone we all knew growing up.
Kim tried (to the best of her capabilities) to have a friendship.
