What is the special socket?
Wow! What a great video. Just curious, where did you get the resin?
Eight years ago I bought it online from a single supplier. These days you can buy it on Amazon. Most need one cubic foot of resin.. Hope this helps and good luck with your repairs.
Thank you so much. I used this video about 3 years when I had to change my heater element out on this exact same dryer. My heater element went out again as of yesterday and got a new one being shipped. Watched this video again today as a refresher while waiting on my part to arrive. So glad it was still up on this app. Thanks!
@philipmorse3783 You are so welcome! I'm glad you could find my video again and I hope your repair goes well. Makes me happy knowing this video is still helping. Thank you for your comment!
Super detailed and clear, thank you for making this!
You are most welcome and glad I could provide some help. Best of luck on your repairs!
God it's the same on every site I swear what about the light behind that tells your gas mileage and the temperature how do you how do you get that off there do you know
@kevinb3030 Sorry Kevin. I no longer own that vehicle so I can't answer your question. Hope someone else can give you that info. Good luck with your repair.
Hate that deep socket, Can't find it anywhere here in my location right now.
@ferdieserrano7538 A year ago, another guy said a 1 and 1/16 inch deep well socket worked for him. I don't know for sure, but it might be your best option. Hope this helps!
My dryer is a 2011 and has the steam option. Everything seemed identical until I got to me getting to the heating element. Now I'm stuck.
Hello Joe! Very sorry you're having this issue and I sure wish I had a good answer for you. Unfortunately, my dryer didn't have that feature so I really have no advice to offer at this point. I'm just a DIY guy like you. Hopefully you figured it out on your own or found another source of info to get the job done. Best of luck on your repair and I hope it goes well for you.
@gizmoflyslow9854 your video got me far enough for me to figure out what to do next. I had to remove the whole burner assembly, including the gas line. It was simple enough. Thanks for your help. You're appreciated
@@joegarza5046 VERY glad you were able to work through it and complete your repair. Thanks for letting me know.
Since a torque wrench won’t fit in the right space along with the oil sensor and socket, how tight did you screw in the new sensor?
I'm just a DIY guy. I just made sure it was screwed in far enough to cover half the threads that had the locktite coating. I honestly don't think the torque values are that important. Just make sure it's nice and snug. Hope this helps and if someone else can offer better advice, feel free to make a comment.

You're very welcome! Good luck with your repair.
what type of resin and what is it called?
You can find resin beads on Amazon or other websites. Purolite seems to be the major brand name. You'll need 1 cubic foot for most softener systems. It will cost you approximately $140. Hope this helps.
Excellent video, very well done!
Thank you very much!

How does your dryer perform the past 6 months to a year? I have a roof vent in my current house and it seems after about a few weeks of cleaning the vent. It starts to take 2 or 3 cycles for clothes to be dry.
I haven't been up on the roof to check on my Dryer Jack vent for a year, so I can't tell you how it looks at this point. However, our clothes are drying normally after one full cycle and maybe a short cycle after cleaning the lint filter in the dryer. Bottom line is every dryer vent is eventually going to get clogged up to a certain extent. Even a dryer vent tube with no vent cover at all is going to have lint accumulation between the dryer itself and the outside world. If you're in a high-humidity area, it's going to be even worse.
@@gizmoflyslow9854 I live in Florida, no shortage of humidity. I'm looking into getting the dryerjack. I definitely prefer venting out the wall over the roof.
Is it same for a 2013 Chrysler touring van ..
I do not believe it is the same as my video. My van had a 3.8 liter engine and the 2013 has a 3.6 liter. My video may not be helpful.
I took mine apart without knowing how to put the wires back in how can i know the difference. In the front all of my wires are gray and the pink one one side in longer than the other I've already move those around and it still saying e71
Thank you so much! You made this so much easier to tackle! Thanks again!
You're very welcome! Glad to help.
I wish more videos could be made like this. I'm so excited to fix this issue after seeing this. Took the mystery and dread out of the unknown. 🙏🏼
Thank you so much! I really appreciate the compliment. I always try to make sure my videos give the information and clarity I couldn't find when I needed to fix a problem. Good luck with your repair!
It's actually easier to take apart than what is shown. You don't need to unplug any of the cables. Also, the black plastic clips are pretty easy to remove by hand. If they're tight it means the input/output connections are "pulled" apart too much. Push the pipes in towards the softener and they'll become easy to remove by hand. The only other things you need to remove are the tube to the brine and the drain tube. Maybe not even the drain tube if you have the slack. I'm able to take it apart without any tools at all.
I'm very happy for you.
@@gizmoflyslow9854 your video helped a lot the first time I had to do it.
I found the broken burnt wire pretty quickly inside the tube. They were jacked up.
I just did mine and your vid was fantastic because I have the same model and element. The little pain in the ass screw is so much easier with the dryer tilted way back. I had my kid hold it. I used a 1/4 drive ratchet with a Phillips bit. Couldn't get it with the little screwdriver. Was too tight. Definitely mark those gray wires. The re-installation of that screw goes very easy with the dryer tilted and a horizontal line through the center of the tiny hole on the new element to have a visual landmark for alignment. Excellent vid. 😁👍
Thanks very much! Glad to help and thanks for the suggestion on that little screw!
Thank you for making this video. Was a great guide to follow for the element replacement on my dryer. Saved paying someone to come to this repair.
You're very welcome. Glad I could help.
I have oil pressure going On.
How do I get it open? I can't even get it open
Sorry. I really don't have an answer for that problem, but hopefully you can find a video from someone else. Good luck!
Same problem here! 😢
Thank you so much for taking the time to post your video and educate me on "dryer ventilation through the roof". Was very helpful!!
Thank you very much! Happy to help!
Excellent video. Great close-ups of the whole process.
Thank you very much! Glad to help!
It depends on the length of pipe going to the vent for being able to push that vent door up. The longer the pipe the lower the air flow.
I'm fully aware that the longer the vent tube, the less exhaust pressure reaches the vent. However, I cannot run my dryer vent in any other direction except straight up through my roof. Going straight up is the shortest distance to reach a vent location. I guess I need to add a more complete description of my situation so people will understand.
@@gizmoflyslow9854 you can add a dryer vent boost to it to take care of the problem of running a long line.
Very good video. Thank you.
You're most welcome. Glad I could help. 😊
But you probably need to clean your duct work between the new roof vent hood and the dryer which is causing low air flow.
Did you watch the entire video? I cleaned the duct work at the end of the video.
Tmaybe I'll make you fall in love I promise you
Thank you so much! Saved me so much money!
You're very welcome! Glad to help! Congratulations on your successful repair! 👏 😊
Thanks, I followed your method as my softer is in the basement. Took me about 4 hours to do a 45 minute job…. LOL. It’s really cool that you are helping so many people out. Great how to video.
Thank you very much 😊. I'm glad my video was helpful and I hope your softener gives you many more years of service.
I have exactly the some problem with same kind old vent replace with same Dryer Jack with solar panel on the roof. Now they solar panel is on top of is and cause problem. So I am going to relocated away from the solar panels.
So they installed your solar panels OVER your dryer vent? That's kinda strange 🤔. I hope it isn't too much trouble relocating your vent, and this solves your vent problem. Good luck!
No clue what your talking about 😂
Don't know why "you're" leaving a comment. A lot more people found this video very helpful. But I'm sure "your" repair video is much better than mine. 🤣
Thank you! Very well done! 13/10
Thank you very much! I appreciate the compliment. Just trying to help and glad you found my video helpful. Take care.
How is it venting? Have you have to clean it out? Have you even checked it since the install? Just asking since I might change mine out for this! Shit my vent currently isn't even as good as your stock one that you replaced. Its literally caged in so all of the lent is getting trapped.
Hello NJ. First, the vent continues to work just fine. I checked it over six months ago and again a couple of weeks ago, and it's still opening without getting clogged. Some lint collected along the inside, but it doesn't prevent the vent flap from opening freely. We just had another hurricane pass by a few days ago, and there are no leaks. I am very pleased and would recommend it. Good luck!

thanks for sharing your findings!
Yer most welcome!
Thank you for posting. I have a 2009 with a 3.3 liter and it is in the same location. It took me longer to find the correct location video than to replace the sensor.
Excellent! Glad I could help with your repair.
That is absolutely NOT how you install a vent on a roof. Do not go over the old vent. When done correctly you don’t need roof cement (black jack).
Yeah, ok. Your opinion is noted. Been up there for 18 months and went through a hurricane. Works just fine every day and doesn't leak.
@@gizmoflyslow9854 well there is a right and a wrong way of doing things. I have built homes for twenty years. That install is a hot mess.
Thanks a lot for your help. Followed you vid step by step and it was all good. Thanks again for the detailed vid. 😇

I think it has a pipe through it on it so you don't really need to tighten it. You could put it in a good position.
