This will never work this well ever again.

For me, this was an issue that started in 2019 (and still sorta is?), then in 2021 I saw media about an upcoming fighting game - a genre I had not dappled into before - bought the latest entry in the series that came in 2017, and fell in love with it. And here I am, enjoying a whole genre while being somewhat isolated from other genres, so you could say I did experience something new I've grown a huge appreciation towards BUT STILL feeling like I'm not finding enough of what I actually want/can to enjoy wholeheartedly.

This game is heavily skill capped. From major to smaller ones, its so good! The way you deny the soul orbs its like a mini aim lab game youve to play after everything you kill vs your opponent. The shooting + high skill movement + spells. Even the reload can have a faster way of doing it if you can focus on hitting additional buttion while in the middle of a team fight. Very very very skill oriented game.

It's funny that a tf2 youtuber was streaming deadlock through discord to his friends while saying how garbage the game is and valve is wasting the time. Eventually one of his friends leaked the footage. 😂 And his opinion on how garbage the game is aged like milk

I've always WANTED to like mobas but every one has just had offensively unfun game design. Upgrading your character throughout the match is awesome, but other mobas just had too simplistic of a gameplay style to make the upgrades engaging. It almost felt like the point and click gameplay was like, placeholder. Like the gameplay of clicking around was an empty stand in for gameplay that the upgrade systems and macro mechanics were built around. Deadlock on the other hand has super fun moment-to-moment gameplay which makes the context for the upgrade system and macro more interesting, and the item design reflects this. So many more interesting items here. League and dota had some cool items but there were tons of filler items. In deadlock though, every item has flavor in my mind, even the ones that are simple stat ups are memorable. The most boring item in the game is probably rapid rounds, and even that item has flavor as being the only t1 item with a negative in return for giving fire rate, a more valuable stat than normal gun damage.

Welp I like 3D shooters and MOBAs, The game has both that's why I like it simple as that.

I have a love/hate relationship with deadlock, I love it but it also falls into the same issue that a lot of team based games fall into for me, I'm naturally a support player so I don't actively take fights, and instead support my teammates through them wtth heals, buffs, debuffs, revives, peel, cc whatever, the struggle comes however in 2 places, 1 it's just like Ivy says "you can make opportunities, but you can't make people take them" and when I'm trying to support but people don't take advantage of it, and since I'm not as inclined towards team based pvp be that mobas or shoooters or whatever, what ends up happening is I get trapped in low ranks, where I can't really play support as well because they make more mistakes than I can bail them out for but since I'm not hard locked into support in deadlock and can be aggressive and play gunner kelvin, or gunner ivy, and change my playstyle on a whim depending on the situation, that makes deadlock so much easier and since my lane builds are always pretty similar I have time to see that I need to go from "I need to keep my teammates alive" to "I must vaporaize the enemy team :3" and change my build around that lmao

I have over 200 hours on this game and I had allot of fun. I'm a solo que player and lately it was just frustrating to play the game. You just get people who farm to 40K souls before they start playing the game as a team

i get overwhelmed before even booting up this game because of how long the matches go for, like holy shit, i have to have like a whole damn day free just to play a few matches (exagerating to a degree), idk, im still new to this game but.. its very hard to get into coming from an Overwatch and Fortnite background

Yea, thought "MOBA, Hero Shooter, etc", LoL and Dota were dumb asf. But watched a couple reviews on deadlock and I got sold on it. Now I'm almost 120 hrs and have fun sucking at the game.

One of the best things Deadlock has going for it is its overall accessibility. Sure, this game doesn't exactly have the best tutorial (especially for people who've never played a MOBA before). But when you boil down this game to its absolute core mechanics, it's a pretty streamlined version of mechanics taken from Dota 2 (which Valve and Icefrog also made), and MOBAs in general. A lot of quality-of-life features such as the placement of shops (by your Guardians and the secret shops near the center of the map), the transit/ziplines that take you back to spawn at a relatively quick pace, and even the very straightforward naming convention of items really alleviate some of the tedium seen in MOBAs from the past. It can definitely make the information overload much easier to digest for newcomers (which is huge considering the variation in demographics that this game is attracting due to a mix of different genres). The thing that really solidified this game for me in terms of my overall confidence in the developers is the fact that the mix of both the 3rd person shooter aspects of this game and the MOBA aspects of this game aren't just haphazardly mishmashed together. They both *communicate* with each other. For example, last hitting and the confirming/denying of souls is very much a MOBA mechanic. But mistiming your reloads can lead to the enemy denying you from getting souls. This was very much the type of communication I was looking for when I first heard about Deadlock's mix of two wildly different genres. Valve definitely knows what they're doing, and it shows.

I'm loving Deadlock, first online game I got addicted to in years. Never liked MOBAs, despite tons of praise from friends and otherwise. I'm a mainly FPS player, love Titanfall 2 and Quake and arena-style FPS in general, so seeing some non-basic movement was a killer feature for me - really helped me merge the gap between the more macro-capable players and myself. The items are a special feature here, really, especially their names - the items in Dota 2 and League of Legends are reminiscent of RPG mechanics and honestly the original Dota mod for Warcraft, so their names weren't exactly telling. I found that a little too cumbersome and tiresome in something as fast-paced and frankly unwieldy as someone who's very used to rely on a keyboard for movement rather than just the mouse. The game's very early on in its development, but it plays and looks very good already. I think this is going to get very unhealthy for me as it gets more polished and (even more) content-rich.

The first time i played this games, i was kinda off because i didn't understand well, i drop it, but in time i started to understand well this game, now i really like it, its hella fun

Its kind of sad because as Gigantic dies again and I go looking for a new game Deadlock was on the short list but its just too much moba for my taste. I love having a few upgrade option and a few side objectives but Deadlock has just a too many.

There's 11 other heros 😆See, too many to keep track of.... right..? I also have no shame that I disliked this game so much that I uninstalled it once... now I have 200+ hours and play everyday.. send help.. or a team? Either one, really.

Deadlock never has trouble getting me to come back... but I have the darndest time trying to get my friends to try the game, or if they tried it, most don't seem as interested as I am :(
