Walking safari in Chitwan
A walking safari is always a thrilling experience, when you know there are elephants, rhinos, bears and tigers around.
We did not run into any of them this time, but saw plenty of evidence of them, via their footprints, markings on trees, feces etc (some of which I show you in the video).

Next was Pokhara and some of the surrounding villages, where we did some trekking to enjoy the fresh air and stunning views of the Annapurna massif. Finally we returned to Kathmandu where our 10 day tour came to an en...

A day out at Port Lympne
มุมมอง 632 หลายเดือนก่อน
Located in Kent, UK A nice place to experience a safari, see wildlife and go for long walks. I would recommend doing it on a warm summers day when it is not raining. The place is reasonably priced if you visit for the day, compared to other parks in the UK. They also have the option of luxury overnight stays at their lodges and tents, which we did not do this time.

This is a popular view point, that is often visited by people during the day time, as you get a nice view of London, and nice natural scenery to complement it. The car park is usually locked at night, but on New Years Eve they had left it open, for those who wanted to view the firework display in the city. It was truly impressive, though the camera did not do it justice!

      They are becoming more common again in Australia, due to conservation efforts. During the colonial era, there were many giants over 20 feet, but hunters killed most of them off. So it will take time for them to slowly reach those sizes again.

      5.5 metres is roughly 18 feet. That is exactly how big our guide said this croc was! 18 feet is not not average right now, but in the future it may become average, because our guide told us, since conservation efforts began in Australia in the 1970s, these crocs are slowly attaining their former sizes. During the colonial period, most of the big boys were wiped out by hunters.

      You estimated the size perfectly. Because our guide told us he was an 18 footer which is 5.5 metres. Certainly not small right now! But our guide informed us, that these crocs are slowly attaining their former sizes, thanks to hunting being banned during the 1970s. So in the future if many crocs pass 20 feet, then yes, 18 feet may be considered 'average' or even 'small'.

Also compairing it to a specimen like Lolong which was 6.17m in length it does look much smaller. Still pretty big, ofc i cant tell that well from the vid but i would say he was about 5.2-5.5m?

      @@med9471 The croc in that link you sent me from india appears to be several foot longer than the one i filmed in this video. In that one they claim its a 24 footer which seems a reasonable estimate. Romulus whitaker who is a crocodile researcher measured the drag mark of a croc from that region of india and estimated a size of 23-25 feet long! It was shown on the monsterquest episode and is called mahisasur.

    • @med9471
      @med9471 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@naturephotography8837 yeah, Don Kalia looks massive. Although we cant be sure how long he is without tape measure he seems to be one of the biggest living crocodiles. Also Mahishasura being 23-25ft is and over estimate imo. His belly slide measured 117cm and the one from a 300cm specimen measured 52cm, so we can do this (52÷100=0,52 / 117÷0,52=225 / 2,25×300=675). This gives us an approximate length of around ~6.75m/22ft. It is important to note though, that due to proportional changes that come with intense size it might be slightly longer or shorter.
