ABOUT WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE
Dave and Holly started this podcast to talk all things 80s, but mostly music. Since then, they’ve branched out into the 70s and 90s on occasion, and even into the 2000s, when they’re feeling it. But their true passion is for the music played on the World-Famous KROQ in Los Angeles in the 1980s. They’ve welcomed a wide variety of guests into their studio….musicians, authors, film directors, producers, radio personalities...turns out there is a collective passion for the music of the 80s!

Love you Rita. You're a wonderful story teller as and I'd love to hear more. My brother Raymond listened to you all the time. And you probably know my story I was in radio at kbbk Fullerton College and 73 to 76 and then it Cal State Fullerton like went to school too long I think I should have been out there working but then I found out I really wasn't as talented as I thought I was. But I lasted a little bit almost 25 years in radio, mostly in news. I was on lousy disc jockey. But I had fun while it lasted I was just afraid of trying too hard and I kind of didn't rock the boat so I never really got anywhere with it and I wasn't as counted as I thought I was but it was a good time during the 70s 80s and 90s
I've watched a lot of other people's cell phone vids of the last Redd Kross tour on youtube. I look for them every week. Cell phones these days can get some pretty decent audio.
@@OccupyJordan it’s great to hear you’re finding some good quality videos!

That was the Down to Earth 1989 tour in Oakland Ca. One of previous show to the show you’re talking about John Cougar got booted off the stage and people were throwing tomatoes Adam I don’t know why people bring tomatoes in the show. Then Randy Hansen played Hendrix set and the word was it Blackmore was pissed off, since he had to go on after Hansen . So probably the following night down in LA or nights later he refused to go on after Randy Hansen. Thanks for the follow story.
I listened to M & B for years on Portland's KGON. I miss their morning banter.
@@pdxbuckeye we do too!
Just checked out The Blue Nile .. amazing, all these years later and Larry is still introducing me to new music. Also, cool story about Off the Boat - I didn’t know Larry hosted; when I started listening in ‘83 it was Bob Waugh. I still miss ‘LIR to this day, all the time. Thanks for sharing this interview.
Amazing story! Talking to Spock for a half an hour!
WE KNOW, RIGHT??!!
Yoko dried him up.
Todd plus Tubes is a no brainer but Love Bomb is no one's fault but the times they were in...Foster lps were all hits which is odd for an odd band! By 84 or so rock sounded synthetic and lost its edge...Tubes were like Zappa Mothers and early Roxy Music same deal...look at Roxy after their first hiatus...hits clean clear records but it wasn't Ladytron! Now all said done Fee /Tubes rock no matter what
We agree!
I went to the KEZY Broadcast Workshop during Rita's days there. I'd loved the environment ever since I got my mother to drive me to KEZY when they were in the Disneyland Hotel lobby. I was 14 and would watch Emperor Bob Hudson as long as I could stay. I loved everything about it. It was a thrill to actually be inside of KEZY. To enter the FM studio was like a bit of magic. I actually got a job afterwards at KWVE in San Clemente, overnights, of course. But that was everything that was great about radio. The "smoky" FM studio at a run down radio station that put out 50,000 watts and was heard in LA. Rita was a wonderful model of how the FM genre was done. I'm 71 now and still excited everytime I get behind the mic for a youtube livestream podcast..But I had a family, had to work a real job to make money and I did radio. Minimum wage, but I'd have done it for free too. Thanks Rita!
Hmm. I think he's in the Rock & Roll Hall of fame. For one simple track. Albuquerque
Enjoyed the interview. I remember hearing 'Waiting For a Girl Like You' when it was released as a single in the UK. Such an amazing, atmospheric song. And '4' was a superb album.

Why do Americans have such a hard time getting ironic humour. Sat through all that preamble just to find out Ritchie made a joke that Eddie didn't understand. It's like saying to Paul McCartney, I think I've heard of you, aren't you a singer or something. It's a joke. How didn't that register?
I love Now. The coolest work of art from the 1970's.
How hard was it to just adjust the mic so it isn’t popping
Oh yeah, KROQ did play Dear God as well. I listened to to KROQ 106.7 FM, 91X 91.1 FM and KNAC 105.5 FM which were the Alternative Radio Stations I would listen to growing up in Los Angeles.
Hermoso y con la canción que más amo❤¡!!❤
Perfect Way is a perfect pop tune. Boom is great but not a patch on Perfect Way. The dude who says " you'll never listen to Perfect Way again'' doesn't know what he's talking about. Miles Davis heard Perfect Way and wanted to contribute to their next album , that's how good that track is. Miles Davis, normally a hard person to please , perfectionist...he saw it's greatness
Around 1980/81 keyboard player Don Airey was in Rainbow and invited both Eddie and Gary Moore to a gig. He said Eddie was extremely excited and nervous at meeting Ritchie. Ritchie doesn't like to be surprised and put on the spot (in reality he's quite a shy person and tends to go on the attack with the sarcasm as a defense mechanism). So, after the show Eddie and Gary are backstage with Don; Ritchie walks into the room sees both Ed and Gary, doesn't say a word, turns around and walks straight back out of the room. Poor Edward never got the chance to have a pleasant encounter with his hero, bless him.
The film is already out in Paris, France right now. I listened to your podcast right out of the film.

What Fee doesn't know according to this video, David Foster produced Alice Cooper's 1978's "From The Inside" album. So far it was the very first straight up rock 'n' roll album he ever produced.
Woke up this morning and played my vinyl of Priest = Aura, coffee, 5 beers and an edible. It's a masterpiece

This twat is the most BORING story teller on the bloody planet!!!!
The music she has made is astounding! From the Dream Syndicate to her solo work. This has always bothered me!!
Morning radio sucks ASS since Mark and Brian left. KLOS has Heidi in the morning and I cannot stand the way she laughs at EVERYTHING!!!!! just to make it seem like it is funny when it is NOT!!!!! Not to mention her laugh sounds like the witch on Wizard of Oz. Uuuugh! Unbearable to say the least! I remember the great skits that Mark and Brian did like "Miniature Theatre" loudest vibrator contest where people would call in with their chainsaw on the phone...etc There was the day before the day of Thanksgiving day parade and Christmas Shows with great musical performances. KLOS has NEVER been the same. Is Mark or Brian doing a podcast these days? I would love to hear them again
❤🇧🇷✌️🥰
Boring guys, gee!
Paul is such a ‘unique’ artist, the like of whom mankind may get to see perhaps every two hundred years!! Let’s all enjoy the experience of this “music TITAN” while we all can. I say yes simply because of who this man has become.

I was 18 when this album first came out and I heard the singles on the radio and I went ahead and bought the cassette tape (I didn't have a turntable back then) and I really think this is a truly amazing album. to this day 2024 ; the tracks are still fresh to me and I have since gotten the CD version of this album and still keep playing it over and over!
We love it, too, and we agree with you!
There is a short video with each member introducing themselves one after another. In that video, Rick introduced himself in the way the gentleman in this video pronounced it. "Oh-Cah-sick" not "Oh-cay-sick".
The title of the video: "Members of The CARS introduce themselves"
We've recently confirmed it's Oh-cah-sik! Thank you!!
Wonderful story--thank you so much for sharing it! Linda McCartney has taken so much flak down the years--it is so great to hear what a force for love she was. Blessings! ❤❤
I like her! kROQ should extend her Sunday morning program to M-F in the nights. I would listen to her at night reporting on different stories. This is nothing good on the radio at night anymore . I use to love "The Tom Lykis show"! He was great also! Very funny and also smart!
We agree! We love Tami!
