Black Cat, Washington DC 4.5.14 w/ dedication for Travis Jackson
Saw this band many times in the 90's. It boggles my mind that this band didn't become huge
clearly the tallest band in Richmond! HAHA! RVA represent!
Incredible. That runthrough of Academy Flight Song legitimately had me checking my video speed
I love this band so much. This is one of the best live recordings ever. Good one!
0:00 Charades (intro cut off) 3:20 Minus One 7:59 Academy Flight Song 11:22 Secret Handshake 14:38 Hit Man Dreams 20:20 Be Mini 24:21 The Spy 29:26 Angel Bomb 33:15 Your Albatross 37:17 Mission Control
It be great to see this retransferred from the master tapes in 2023.
Rocket from the crypt turned me on to these guys.
Chris Prescott (drums for No Knife) had a good stint playing with RFTC.
@@clintonemerson19 I think I read something like that in the "all systems go vol.". they're coming to Atlantic City whooaa!! Lol God I hope they don't cancel
24:25 my favorite track!
I had an English final the next day, I studied at the bar till JEW went on. I remember the concert better than any British Lit authors. No regrets.
Please help me to get to the academy. I am a very good player
this pub looks nice

Vemino. Sadio mane M salah dan taem Liverpool kalian harus bersyukur ga boleh sombong. Kalian di kagumi semua orang.
Such a great bunch of homies, I will never understand why they didnt blow up.
I have photos from this show. I found your post tonight and to my shock I found short little self singing along at 34:14 and at 40:52. It was weird to see your 20 year old self through a stranger’s eyes. Thank you for recording this show!!! Going to see JEW tomorrow night after 15 years. So pumped they are back in a club again.
Haha awesome! This was the last night of the tour for us (I traveled with Lazycain as merch bro). We did 2 weeks on this tour and had so much fun. We drove back to Richmond that night. On a whim, I bought a camcorder maybe 4 days before while on this tour, and this night the sound guy let me hook into the board, that's why the sound is actually quite good. Glad you found yourself on here. That makes me happy! Have fun tomorrow!!
@@clintonemerson19 Oh no way! Ya that show was awesome. I wish I had more photos and videos of shows from back then. It made me flip out to see my 20 year old self in a sea of people rockin out. That was my spot at the middle east as I am only 5ft tall. I used to lean against the railing. It is hard to come across the early shows from the Static Prevails Clarity years. It was such a sad show knowing that Lazycain was done. I was talking with my friend Andrew W., who is a born and raised Richmond native, about how Lazycain is his fav band just the other night. You may even know him.
@@meghanoliver2522 I love hearing all of this. I had only been to the Middle East once before this trip, 5 years earlier. I played downstairs in a chugga chugga straight edge band, others on that bill were Bloodlet, Jasta 14 (pre-hatebreed) and Chokehold. I loved the club then, and now watching these again, it really does bring back memories. I remember they fed us falafel sammiches before we played, which was amazing, because I had no money. Your nostalgia has now made me want to look in the attic, I know I've got some pics of this JEW tour somewhere. They crashed in my tiny apt. in Richmond, I seem to remember us watching Happy Gilmore, the night before we left for Philly and NY. :D Then it was off to Boston!
@@clintonemerson19 That is such a great memory. There was a place in Worcester, MA called The Space. It was run by the crust kids (Food Not Bombs). I used to go to shows there on the nightly as they had so many HC and post-punk/hardcore bands, Piebald, Jazz June, STD, garrison, TYF, Bane, New Found Glory, AFI, Kid Dynamite, HWM, Cave In, Fastbreak, Grade, Reach the Sky, and so many more! I too was a big HC kid back in the day. I even saw Shelter there the day after Thanksgiving in '97. Looking back there were so many amazing shows that came through Boston and Worcester in the mid-late 90s. I am sure Richmond was equally as awesome in those days! I went to the Hole in the Wall in '97 with my fake ID, which was awful by the way. I met Mark and his business partner and they just kept calling me a Yankee trying to piss me off. haha
@@meghanoliver2522 oh dear God. If you were drinking at Hole in 97, we have certainly met and drank PBRs together. I was there every night, literally, for at least 4 years. :o My liver just quivered thinking about it.
Thanks for posting. Great sound on this and captured the band at one of their sharpest moments. Miss these guys so much.
Zach smiling at his own mistake at 18:31 is so funny
Here's the setlist if you needed it: 0:02-2:23: Your New Aesthetic (beginning is cut) 2:52-5:56: Lucky Denver Mint 6:29-9:30: Believe In What You Want 9:31-12:47: Blister 13:07-17:20: Softer 17:21-21:15: Sweetness 22:01-25:38: Claire 25:53-29:36: Robot Factory 30:02-31:57: What Would I Say To You Now (beginning is cut) 32:48-35:44: Crush 36:01-37:38: Digits (beginining is cut) 38:22-43:09: Goodbye Sky Harbor
This band needs to come back. Actually, has to. C'mon baby Jesus make it happen if you really care!
They're playing in San Diego in January!
Thanks a lot for this upload. Will always be a special band to me. Love that they played the end part of digits!
So good. God damn.
Oh blimey! They played the On and Off section of Digits! =D
it only took me about a year to watch this aftwr asking for the upload. but thanks! it was nice to see thia band before they completely blew up.
The back of my head is in there somewhere. One of the best sets I've ever seen, no joke. Thanks for posting!
Fuck!!! Thank you so much for posting this. Lazycain has a special place in my soul. :D
emkmail2 You're certainly welcome!
Believe in what you want. Thanks for the awesome upload!
Amazing!
hope you'll be back.
Greatt band. Love at first sight, in 2001, listeging to the "hit man dreams" album.
Can you post the Jimmy Eat World one as well? and do you have the opening band? I honestly can't remember if it was barbaro(maybe even slowfore) or the damn personals....This was a school night for us and we'd end up farting around the city for hours after the shows, like that gloria record show upstairs and this one. A few of us either had rather cool, well experienced parents or straight up irresponsible ones, but we got to see a lot of sweet shows during our HS years. Sometimes as far away as springfield and holyoke from southeast NH. Thanks for posting these.
You're welcome! The Jimmy Eat World set, I haven't transferred from Hi8 yet, and I'm heading out of the country for a couple of weeks. I'll have it up in a month or so. Have some footage of J.E.W. from a few other shows on this tour as well (Philly/Richmond). Lazycain (this video) was the opening band this night, only 3 bands on the bill.
Clinton Emerson Well that took a bit longer than expected. Jimmy Eat World set should be up today.
LOVE.
Awesome!!!!!! I was never able to catch you guys in person, so this rules. Still jam this record on a reg basis. Ha! And dickie from BWR is my neighbor...small world.
The record is quite good, I remember when we picked up the box of the first pressings, everyone was amped. I was not in the band, I was just a roadie and merch guy. They made me pump gas too, bastards.
it's a pearl XD i'm an italian fan. Can you post other videos, please?? thank you byeee
Hey! Post the Lazycain set from that night as well!!!
Working on it now. Hope to have it up tonight.
