This is a single-use ampoule. However, if you leave it closed, you can use it at least for that day. If a high reading is obtained with an open ampoule, you should always open a new ampoule and check again before calibrating. The reason for this is that an open vial will evaporate and it can be easy to get a high reading if it was open. How long it takes really depends on the environment and whether it is well covered. The cartridges are designed for a guaranteed operating time of 6 hours, and if cross-contamination of different samples is not a problem, multiple samples can easily be run with one cartridge. The cartridge can also be flushed with buffer between the individual runs.
