Here we have our great example of the Rover P6 2000 SC in Mexico Brown. Having only covered just over 40,000 miles from new we came across this P6 from an estate auction of the 2nd owner. This car had been dry stored for 10 years prior to now and the condition, whilst not being absolutely perfect, is great for the age. The vehicle had minor recommissioning work before we took it on including, n...

Thanks for the comment, all of our cars are priced in line with the rest of the market (if not slightly cheaper than others out there). Small automatics are still in high demand but are in short supply, hence the higher prices for them in comparison to the manual equivalents. There's no point in us trying to overcharge for cars because they just won't sell

All Jazz sold in Malaysia are automatic. E/though driving a stick is more fun, we believe we owe it to our knees due to the daily constant traffic jam. Btw, that black Jazz is still looking great after almost 2 decades

Sorry for being so late to the party, but thank you for this video. You've explained things that only a P6 owner would know. I have many P6 and a P6B, but the SC2000 Automatic has a special place in the collection. It is arguably the most civilized version of the range, and I drive it differently than, let's say, my TC2000 or the V8. But that's the point.

I own a 2000 automatic. I would recommend having a custom sports exhaust for these. I had a big hole in the exhaust manifold, and the rest of the system was rotten. So headers were made and a complete exhaust system. The exhaust system improves performance, and you feel more confident in traffic with the extra get up and go!

I have owned Rover P6’s pretty much continuously since April 1969 . My first was a Series 1 2000TC in Arden Green,I loved the car but sold it when I emigrated to SouthAfrica in September 1973. I bought a 1971 Series 2 V8 in February 1974 which I still have today, however the car as built here by Leykor had many faults & shortcomings, but as a Mechanical Engineer working in the motor industry ( at Volkswagen S.A. ) I was able to overcome them & improve as necessary. I can assure you that the Audi’s & to some extent the Daimler- Benz products of the 1970’s were often crude in comparison. Incidentally , the V8 was obtained primarily for the P6 ,although it first appeared in the P5B.

Looks a tidy car, though I notice the steering wheel is from an earlier model. Had rubber bumper BGT for 25 years almost and only ever experienced body roll once in that time. Road handling I have always found fine, and if a Caterham 7 shunts you from behind as happened to me, then they come off a lot worse than you. My car was undamaged as he hit the rubber bumber.

That is a wonderful example. Saying that, the 3500 and the 3500S were the original Police Jam Sandwich because they were quick for the times. The Series 1 V8 has a strip speedo but no bonnet bulges.

My very first car was a 1966 2000 SC. I can honestly say that I don't think I've had a car as smooth and comfortable as that was. I loved the "clunk" of the doors closing, very reassuring. Being a 60's car it didn't suffer from some of the 70's problems. I noticed you said about the heavy steering when parking, as was everything in those days, we soon learned to turn whilst moving and not try to go lock to lock stationary. I'm pleased to hear that you are enjoying it, they really were a marvellous car.

  • @davidw8759

Great video but the engine descriptions aren’t the best! The O series was only available with a carb on the MK1 800 and was a mildly warmed over version of the 2.0 engine in the SD1. There was also the M series which was basically a twin cam O series, available with single point or multi point injection. Each of these had varying power outputs. The Mk2 800s had a warmed over version of the M series, again 2.0 litre, named T series. The 2.0 litre T series turbo in the Vitesse sport was the most powerful (200bhp), not any if the V6’s. The 2.5 Rover KV6 replaced the Honda 2.7 V6 (which was actually 2.5 litres on early cars), the Honda and Rover engines were never available at the same time. They only ever had one Diesel engine option. This was available in later Mk1 cars and Mk2’s up to 1996. This was a VM engine of 2.5 litres, with a turbo (as used in the Range Rover from 1986) and was an enlarged version of the 2.4 litre diesel used in the SD1.

Great vid and nice looking 800. Knew someone who had one of these back in the day, never drove one but rode in a few, very smooth. Don't get the criticism in the motoring press at the time about "rough" suspension - it was smooth enough I thought. Did also know a few people with Rover 600's, again so long as you get one with a Honda engine they are as reliable as any car.
