I definitely respect this take Dexter will always be one of my favorite shows ever and certainly one of the top 30 best series I’ve ever watched.

Why?

@ZerxEdits her reactions to anything and everything was drastic or unnecessary. Everything Dexter did was relationship ending to her. Her needs outweighed everything. The episode where he was exhausted and passed out behind the wheel, granted she didn't know about the accident's damage. But he was obviously miserable and tired constantly throughout the episode. She claimed she was doing all the work as a parent (in more than just this episode but this one in specific) and despite all of that still expected sex from him instead of letting him rest for a bit. She took him to therapy because she was fed up with him but she was told by the therapist that she was wrong for expecting him to be different than he was pre marriage. She constantly blamed him for all the relationships issues and when he did do something wrong it only fed her accusations. Weddings are stressful, she didn't need to react like she did to him he's juggling his job and parenting he can be stressed too but she didn't give him that benefit or thought. She jumped the gun on Lila and all the stress there caused the affair to eventually happen. Lila was a bad person yes but she didn't push for dex until Rita didn't trust Dexter with another woman. I'm opening presents with kids right now and can give more reasons later if needed. Overall just didn't like her or the way she acted and will discuss all of this is needed or wanted.

@@ZerxEdits he definitely wasn't I agree but he did his best for her in his way of understanding or trying. I can't remember a time when he went out of his way to make her feel bad or less than, like she did. He did his best even if he didn't understand the situation. The lying and secrets were bad but he was like that before they married the affair happened post Rita jumping the gun not trusting him and breaking up with him. He shouldn't have slept with Lila but they broke up. The Lila situation was a bust for both but I didn't see him romantically involved with her until Rita pushed him out over an assumption. Then let him explain but it was too late then and she punished him further. I also feel like she compared him so heavily to Paul no matter how drastic or little the situation. Everything was endgame to her it has to go this way or the relationship is over. They both were traumatized and needed a lot of work. She only cared about her trauma. His trauma was only cared for when it was convenient. He wasn't perfect but he tried to the best of his ability. She didn't deserve death but I'm not complaining.

I think kira would last a whole season. If dexter can get his real name, and light never figures out who he, is like trinity did; then Dexter can take him down.
