We made spreadsheets and Word docs too to keep track of everything. I loved your video, It looks like you’ve done a great job prepping for college.

As a mom of two college age girls let me help you out; The biggest takeaway you need to know is COMFORT. You want to make sure that you are the most comfortable you can be for: sleeping, showering, changing, eating, studying, and free time. This is a small space, so organization is a biggie with storage solutions. (Looks like you’re well on your way in the right direction with this) You want your bed to be SUPER comfortable. So at least a THREE inch mattress topper, comfy pillows, soft sheets and a soft warm comforter. A cozy throw blanket is also really helpful. Things to think about: you might want a pillow for your desk chair, a laptop riser for the desk, a separate keyboard and mouse w/mousepad with the wireless mouse. You can also use a desktop protector, drawer organizers, a possibly drawer liner. A lap desk and back pillow for your bed. Possibly a headboard for your bed so your pillows don’t fall off the end when it’s raised. (My husband built a super simple slatted headboard) You can’t burn candles, but you CAN do plug in air fresheners. Your room will get stinky. You will also need a mini fridge, microwave, and a vacuum cleaner. You can also use a rice maker. We got a dash mini rice maker, and it worked great. Velvet hangers are great. Don’t forget to bring hangers. A small jewelry box, and possibly a small lock box to hold valuables and valuable documents. Don’t take any sentimental or super valuable jewelry. A desk lamp is needed, and command strips and hooks. The stable bins are good, and fabric collapsible bins for your closet shelf to hold cleaning supplies, medicines, etc. Put together a shoe box sized bin with all the medicines you will need when you get sick. (Hint: YOU WILL GET SICK) -so cold meds, bandaids, cough drops, pepto chewable, tums, Neosporin-etc. Don’t forget to include extras for personal hygiene supplies, and shower items. You’re also going to need Lysol spray and wipes. Tissue boxes, and a couple rolls of paper towels. You can buy snacks and some desk supplies when you get there. You’re going to want snacks in your room for the times when you’re starving and the dining hall is closed. Consider plastic bowls and cups, a mug, and a microwave container for leftovers. You will also use a stainless steel water bottle. A Brita water filter pitcher, or bottled water. Dorm tap water is notoriously gross. If you’ve got your own bathroom remember a shower curtain and rings, small rugs or mats, and a shower caddy or three tier cart. You also need a set of towels. You will really only need about 1/3 of the clothing you think you will. Get some laundry soap and dryer sheets. Check if the laundry machines are free, or if you need a refillable card or coins. We also picked up doorstops and collapsible wagons for move in day. My daughter’s school is pretty chill, and they allow them to have doormats outside their doors, door decor and white boards, and wireless doorbells. (Like a teacher doorbell). Make sure you take noise cancelling headphones too. Over the door hooks, or “S” hooks to hang your backpack and coats from. A small vanity mirror and two tiered shelf for small bathroom items is also a good idea. My daughter has had a bathroom in her dorm, and she needed a dehumidifier as well as an air purifier. She ended up heating water for her mug in the microwave. So she didn’t use the electric kettle. (It’s up to you) you could also get a Keurig and heat water that way, or get hot tea pods.
