This channel follows my mission to learn as much as I can about nature as a whole, but specifically fungi and mycology. I have a passion for this knowledge and I'm eager to share my findings in easy-to-follow/retain formats.
Foraging and Identifying Spring Mushrooms in Alberta
Leave a comment below because I would love to hear from you! Do you have any questions? Ask away!

I had a great day out in the woods and the morels keep on coming. I have had a great haul this year and I can't wait to continue documenting this area in Alberta's Boreal Forest in future videos. Alberta has great mushrooms that I can't wait to show off.
Foraging has become a passion of mine over the past few years and mushrooms have become my obsession. I have intent to post mushroom-related content on this channel, and get involved with citizen mycology wherever I can. I am a director for the Alberta Mycological Society and I want to spread knowledge about the wonderful world of fungi.

I had a seriously close encounter with the beavers in my yard and I have learned a lot from this experience. I will be taking much heftier precautions when observing these beavers moving forward, especially around their lodges and dams. If you're reading this, would you consider subscribing to my channel and liking the video? It really helps me out and I'd love to have you along for the ride. C...

When this scholarship was first announced through my club, the NAMA Appalachia Foray 2023 had been sold out for a while. I feel blessed and grateful beyond words. Thank you to the Alberta Mycological Society and the North American Mycological Association for this unforgettable opportunity. I made this video as concise as I could. There were so many great experiences and conversations that could...
Awesome bro
Thank you kindly!
Build a beaver box!!!!
What’s the trail called?
Never mind it’s in the video
It’s Karst Springs! There’s some more information in the description
😊
Amazing I'm in alberta would love to hike this
It was awesome and I will definitely be going back at some point! I’d recommend it in the fall; the moss was glowing and we were some of the only people there
😊
😊
Cool log mushrooms 🏴☠️☮️🇨🇦
True! I’m thinking they are a species of Heliocybe… Thanks for stopping by ☮️😆
Moss is awesome!!😊
Agreed x100000 😁
Very cool stuff!!! Look forward to watching your journey!

🍄🌿
Which goes to prove, if you wants lots of views, beaver videos. 🦫
Amazing content!!!!!
I'm trying to reach your level🙏
You have mushrooms in North America in spring??? Damn we In Poland need to wait for autumn.
Our season really gets going in July- September - but morels and oysters start popping up in spring! There are lots of other inedible mushrooms coming out that I want to document as well.
The best foraging partner around!
No doubt!
Awesome 🤟 Loved it! <3
I appreciate it :)
First Comment :D
Mike's Videos of Beavers has great beaver content. He records the beavers in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He always has close encounters, but generally they sniff his shoes and walk away. Great work
Mike’s Videos of Beavers is the golden standard of beaver content! Thanks for the comment 😄
Gotta admire these very industrious rodents !!!
Absolutely, they are fascinating creatures and they work SO hard!
Angry beavers are dangerous
Always have a weapon. If it comes to my life they will lose everytime. Stay safe.
That's a good suggestion, thanks for the safety wishes!
Bro pulled a "Drax the destroyer" card there. He mastered the ability of standing so incredibly still and he became invisible to the eyes of the Beavers.
Have been told that the meat from a beaver is similar in texture and flavor as grass-fed beef...
Interesting! I’m grateful we don’t have another meat to add to the “tastes like chicken” list.
@@ethanzapach Gotta thank our blessings wherever we find them...
Thank you for sharing your experience! So wild, but what a way to learn haha!!
Leave it to beaver.
Cool video! Beavers are really cool animals. They are a lot bigger than most people think they are. I lived in Utah for 5 years and there are a lot of beavers. My son and I were swimming in a small stream one time and a HUGE male beaver came swimming up stream and we were in its way. It started slapping its tail and making hissing noises telling us to get out of the way. We did.
Thanks a lot! They are definitely big when you're up close and they aren't shy about telling you to move away. I couldn't imagine being in the water with one... thanks for sharing!
th-cam.com/video/igK-X7DPdqU/w-d-xo.html. beavers can be quite aggressive!
Definitely they can! It doesn't help that they have iron-coated teeth too😅
Heck yea. New subscriber
Heck yea!
I love Beaver, thighs wide open!
I could feel the tension through the video when they were right next to you. Sweet vid man!
Thanks man! Sitting there I had a vivid image in my head of the beaver running up and biting an artery in my leg or something with those iron-coated teeth... I appreciate the comment :)

It’s quite intriguing to observe how both beavers, upon passing in front of you at different times, pause at the very same spot to sniff the air. It’s as if they’re pinpointing the exact location where the wind carries your scent. That interaction with the subtle cues of their surroundings!
Agreed, I think that's exactly what is happening. It's interesting how well adapted they are for their surroundings, despite their poor eyesight. Also, I won't take it personally that they think I'm stinky enough for a 10 second sniff😆
Bro i am from Kenya. Loved this video, haters gonna hate! Keep posting! Subscribed!
Thank you - much love to you from Canada!
Thanks for sharing your experience…anyone with wildlife experience knows never to cross a beaver, a moose, a coyote, and a few others in our beautiful country! Really looking forward to future videos! Cheers!🇨🇦
I’m learning more every day! Thanks for watching and the kind comment! 😁

My heart rate didn't go down for 2 days
Nice video, but I don't really give a dam. 🦫 😂
Watch it, or I'll slap my tail!
Tbh your vids are great. The only thing you need is some luck
Thanks for the nice words (:
Absolutely brilliant, Ethan. ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks Anne😄
Invite them into the house for dinner and make them an offer they can’t refuse
My desire to invite them in for dinner is constantly waged against my slightly greater desire to not get giardia...
Great vid. You're a better filmmaker than disc golfer.🤣
Much appreciated… though I don’t think I set the bar too high😆
Are you still alive, or did beavers eat you?
I appreciate the check-in. I did in fact get eaten by the beavers, but I’ve been able to slowly recover… I’m working on some long-form content right now! Stay tuned because I’m going to be posting some bigger projects and news in the new year
I have at last posted an update video if you’d like to check it out (:
@@ethanzapach sure
Hell no om unalivin the beavers and filling that hole
The hole was filled, the beavers were not unalived-but more on that soon
Why did you just repost the same thing?
I wanted to try a new edit on it😄

I miss them 😢
I still hear their chirps some nights😪
Neat!
I was hearing the sounds for days before finally figuring out it was coming from the sinkhole😅
this is so cool!! have you ever found amanita muscaria?
Every July-August there is a big patch that pops up around me! I find Red, Yellow, and Orange amanitas🍄 Have you ever found any?
@@ethanzapach that’s so cool!! and yeah, found some yesterday and posted them if you wanna look :))
Nice this seems like it would be a video from a big channel so I hope you grow😊
I hope you have a wonderful day!
