Yhea no. Even with 2%crank increase and 17% reduction pully, Big Head, Cam, 400cc injectors, air box and headers/exhaust I only pulled 262 BHP. This guy did a good job getting everything working with a stock ECU! And has tons of upside with only tuning.
I have done a few turbo Mini conversions, you can find then on FB group Turbo R53. for this built I made a turbo manifold, used a GTX2860r turbo, Evo 8 intercooler, Link ECU, 650cc injectors, 3" down pipe to 2.5 exhaust. The car runs 93 oct and 22 lbs of boost. On a stock Mini motor, Not bad for just bolts on.
@@joseysuscarros9244 I used the link ECu for the Mini r53 , Just down loaded the Honda map and used the stock wiring harness, added Vtec wire to the ECU port and sliced to K20 Crank sensor to the Mini harness crank sensor wire, that way I used to K20 sensor. With the link you can use all the Mini's can bus. Like tach, water temp rmp etc. Also use the th fly by wire Throttlet Body but off a Dodge bigger than the Mini.
We used a Link Ecu with the Mini Cooper S base map and tweaked it to read the Honda K20 sensors. We kept the mini fly by wire but used a bigger throttle body of a Chrysler
It's not supercharged, I have both an R53 and an ep3, different reaction, the R53 engine has power at 1500rpm the vtec needs to be thrashed to 5k before it comes alive.
Hi Jorge, I am looking at performing this swap and have read over you build on trackmini. I had a few questions as I may have missed a few things? Are you still using the Link ecu for your management? If so are you able to use gauge all the gauges? Are you able to hit vtec?
Hi Herman, Yes I am using the LINK ecu with Can-bus so all the gauges work including tach, speedo and all the sensors, water oil etc. I tapped into an open ecu pin and set up the Vtec to it. Next I am planning on AWD set up and just rebuild the k20 for turbo upgrade.
@@that_kid_hermz , I kept it simple I reused the k20 alternator will the R53 alternator connection plate. I used the R53 wasted spark coil pack and used Chevy spark plug wires. I used the K20 crank sensor to the mini crank sensor wire ..used the K20 water temp sensor.. and a chevy 4 bar map sensor. custom seal fan and connected it ti the mini fan wires using it control for high and low speed. and a custom shroud on a scirocco dual pass radiator..stuff like that. Hi , I have a k20 engine I want to put in my mini , did you put a new front clip on or did it fit the engine in the space there , any more info on your build ?
@@mrhades6420 the K20 is a good high rev engine and they are cheap plentiful around here. they can also be converted to a 2.4L very easily. 1.6 & 1.8 vtech are getting harder to fine.. so it was a great choice especially with a 6sp

You got any more details on this swap buddy , mounts axles wiring so on n so on?the mini is a good chassis but the stock motor is junk imo and the mods for it are over priced for the gains you get the honda engine on the other hand is one of the best 4 bangers ever made
