The NEW Storybook Necklace Guide to Finishes (Shiny vs. Matte)
The Storybook Necklace is meant to represent the story of YOUR life. The letters you choose can represent anything that is precious to you. Perhaps a “T” is the initial of a dear friend who you met on a backpacking journey 30 years ago… the same person who remains your best friend to this very day. Maybe an “S” represents the animal companion who was by your side for 14 beautiful years of their perfectly sweet, but never-long-enough life. The “R” could represent a soul mate, or the love of your life. You can read more examples here.
Like a storybook, the necklace’s engraved square, circle and rectangle pendants stack together at times and the letters are intentionally not always visible. I hope these necklaces will become heirloom pieces that you someday might pass onto someone else. Over time, if you’d like another stamped shape added to your storybook, we can absolutely do that! Our stories are ever-evolving.
Materials: 14k gold and rose gold, 14k gold and rose gold-fill (14k gold over brass core/no nickel) and/or sterling silver (.925). This necklace was designed in Asbury Park and is handmade to order in our Upstate New York production studio.

I need you in my life to bro do that to my collectable coins before I send them to get graded haha.. would this be noticeable as I did it on my own? Or would it look more like natural toning? If not then I guess I’ll have to put it in the sun and ground for a few months haha.
What do i if i only want to oxidse part of it? Or oxidise some parts more than others?. I have a ring with indented etched letters and i want those indents oxidised more than the rest of the ring so they stand out
Try "painting" on the oxidation and then use a fine grit sand paper to remove the oxidation from the parts that you would like to keep silver. I hope this helps!

Can I leave it in the dawn water all night
You can but I recommend just cleaning the pieces and drying them right away. Repeat as necessary. Leaving them soaking overnight is fine, too...just unsure if it's more effective. Feel free to test it out and let me know! :)
easily can be oxidized by putting in a mashed boiled eggs. It blackens completely. Then rub thoroughly with dry soft cloth. Then place it in salt water for some time. Then clean it with toothpaste without using brushes. Just gently with fingers.

Does this work with silver coins too? I have some coins I want to make them lol older and forth. Will your way or her way be able to wash off or clean off?

Hi there, I'm not entirely sure as we only use solid sterling silver. My guess is not since it might have other alloys in it . Might be worth trying (?). I wish I had more info for you.
Have you tried the boiling water, aluminum foil and backing soda trick to reverse it? Is it effective?

You can attempt to "reverse" by taking a polishing cloth to it. It would not come off easily, though. Does this help?

I’ve never heard of liver of sulphur. But I have seen videos oxidizing silver with eggs.
Boiling eggs are going to do the same "trick" simply because are rich in sulfur ! ! ! so, why using toxic, smelly chemicals I do not have any idea 🤔🤔🤔

Yes, if your silver is shiny, the oxidation will also have a nice sheen to it. Does that help? :)

How do you reverse the process?
We suggest using a liquid dip or paste polish then cleaning it up with a polishing cloth. Or, try a very fine (finer than 800 grit) sanding sponge. Let us know how that works for you!
Can you polish the matte one if you wanted to?
Is it normal for 18k gold jewelry to leave the black marks on the polishing cloth?
Yes! This is normal. When using the Sunshine Cloth, any metal materials will leave dark marks on the cloth. With regular use, the cloth will appear rather dirty but don't worry...you can keep using it. The "dirty" appearance doesn't affect the cloth's ability to shine things right up. Over time, the cloth will look more grey in color but you can keep using for a very long time.
