Majority of the league are small market teams like there's small, large market and then there's dodgers Yankees. Pirates, nationals, white sox, Brewers, Marlins etc etc etc don't give s shit about this series because they hate that one spent s billion plus in one off-season and the Yankees are one of the most hated in sports. Itd be different if the Mets or guardians made it because those fans would pull for the team going against one they hate. So many fans hate both teams and im sure dallas "the entertainment standpoint, the storyline standpoint, the multiple MVP standpoint blah blah blah" dude that's u. Most people when they watch sports need a side to root for. When u hate both who gives an F. Im not watching cuz I'm a red sox fan. Dont want the ysbkees to win and betts still pains me.

I see most people picking the dodgers, but I think both these teams are extremely flawed and lackluster. Both have studs at the top of the lineup but not much depth. Starting pitching isn’t great on either side (dodgers have 1.5 competent starters). I think yanks in 6 as a red sox fan

As Mets fan I can handle losing to the Dodgers much easier than losing to the Yankees in the World Series. Now if the Dodgers can take down the Yankees that'd make this postseason one of the better ones in my lifetime

I have the exact same take about the 2004 World Series as Jared about the 2003 Fall Classic I didn't watch so much as a second of that one and to this day it's the ONLY World Series I've skipped. And rarely do the two clear best teams play each other in the finals of either of the major four leagues. This is almost apocalyptic in terms of the rivalry between these two teams. Dodgers - Yankees is to World Series rivalries what Yankees - Red Sox are to MLB in general.

Compared to an NLCS in which every game has been a blowout, I'd say the ALCS holds up well in terms of the excitement level of the games. They were close. Game 3 was a kick in the nuts and kept me up half the night. In Game 4, the Guardians didn't fold but came back to tie it late. In Game 5, they led for half of the game and it went into extra innings. The Royals' top three starters may have been the best among all the postseason teams.

The difference in perception between CLE and SD is probably multi-faceted and a result of all of our collective brains being broken at this point. With such sound reasoning like how the ALC is seen as a garbage division (3 playoff teams be damned), SD has been more competitive against LAD relative to how CLE has been against NYY, or how CLE came out of a division with the 2024 White Sox, or ultimately how we’re all still processing a deep playoff round after the Astros and O’s were bounced far earlier than expected (those expectations are unreasonable but still set by the broader narrative our broken brains set earlier in 2024).
