KAYA BOY
A Dance Film By - Jason Aryeh
The term Kaya is a coumpound formed from a language spoken in Ghana. Kaya means "load, luggage, goods or burden" in hausa language. This dance film is an abstract tribute to the struggles of the many West-Africans that go through each day to survive Life, and the many lost souls out from the continent of Africa, who are still figuring out who they are, trying to find their way back to the motherland of Africa.

I came here while reading the book "The Rhythm Code" :)
Hahaha! My Dad 😂❤❤❤
From 2'30"...watching the little girl in the background mimic the dancing - reminds me of a small girl dancing in the bus station in Tamale by herself more than 25 years ago / I was in Ghana 25 years ago as a young man and student living in Techiman/ the people and the country have been an inspiration and left a deep impression on me my entire life. Was in Tamale many times. the people are the most natural and beautiful in every way, and I spent my life travelling and working everywhere. The dance and the drums are in our blood, all of us, if we let it be. Me dase kwa Ghana!!
I remember years gone by korlegonno Accra we watched it in the evenings

oh good for you do you know the name of your teacher who taught it
Does anybody know if the swords/knives they're using in the dance are based on tradition, and if so, what they're called? Have loved West African music for a long time and now starting to get into their martial traditions. Thanks!
So painful to watch. Shame.
Why painfull? Look at them happy, play their music and dance!
Because its a horrible rendition of Atsiabekor.
come on they tried their best, yes some other groups might have done better but this does not belittle their effort. Atsigbekor is a unique dance full of choreographical moves
@@sydneyshelt6569try harder then. Represent Atamga as is should be. Not watered down bastardizations.
@@DRUMNICOdotcom my brother or sister, sometimes, it is nice to criticize but it is equally nice to criticize with caution.. They tried the best they could out there… Again some other folks may have done better but this does belittle their effort. Sometimes whenever we are critical we should also try switch to the other side of the spectrum.
Me too
I really liked this video it thought my sons history
Anyone even if they are not familiar or used to dancing can easily dance with Kpanlogo
Kpanlogo music is the best dance music in Ghana....better than Azonto music or Azonto dance
