I think the cryptid sightings easily could've been waking nightmares! It could be that the Clan is paranoid from the streak of deaths and is more susceptible to either the Dark Forest's influence on the waking world or just straight up stress-based hallucinations. If you want it to be that what they saw was at least partially real, the Jersey Devil patrol could've seen a deer with chronic wasting disease, and the Mothman patrol just ran into someone in costume and the "hypnosis" was more of a deer-in-the-headlights effect because they couldn't comprehend what the heck they were looking at

I feel bad for flamebear he spiraled so quickly and losing sleekclove and losing his mother butterfly catcher then he killed his own son Dream smoke I don’t condone his actions I just feel so bad for him but mostly for his victims 😢 he’s a evil yet tragic character
