It’s been a while since this one sold, but I recall in the 1.1-1.2M range.

They ship them on ships. They used to come on their own hulls, and that is still an option when you spec a new one. However it is much more cost and time effective to put them on a ship.

One would have to be incredibly naive to go into boat ownership not expecting problems with the boat at some point. Boats are not like cars where you can just pull into a service station. From my understanding, Leopard and Robertson & Caine have worked with the people you mentioned to resolve their problems. Thanks for watching.

@billregan1981 You obviously are clueless of the ordeal multiple Leopards have and are experiencing daily. Approaching 2 years on the hard at multiple marinas in multiple countries. Not minor problems a reasonable person would expect. Remember, if you do not show support to others in their time of need, your time will surely arrive. And when it does, do you expect others' support? It is beyond imagination what they have been through, and still to this day, issues are still being repaired. Disregarding the quality issues, what about the effects on their peace of mind and loss of enjoyment of 2 years of their lives!!!!! What is that worth?

And vindictive? “If you do not show support to others in their time of need your time will surely arrive” 😮 Boats have problems, this is not a secret. Some more than others. I believe the boat you mentioned has crossed the Atlantic a couple of times now, so how bad could it be? In the scheme of problems in life, having your boat need repairs isn’t all that bad; try to keep some perspective. These folks are the extreme outliers, there are Leopards, Lagoons, Beneteau, Hanses, Pearson, Catalina’s…the list goes on, out there cruising everyday. Sail on!

The 50 is certainly doable by a couple. All the sail controls come to the helm, you’ve got electric winches, easy access around the boat. That said, I wouldn’t recommend it for a first boat necessarily as with all boats as you go bigger there is more maintenance, upkeep, and experience necessary. So the 42 would be a great option as an “entry level”, though you could certainly take that around the world. So really it comes down to budget, experience, and needs for space.

Thanks for watching and commenting. Well, the boats have to built to a certain price point. If everything was solid wood the cost would go up. Maybe some would be willing to pay, but the production builders are looking to turn hundreds of these a year, not just a couple like a boutique builder.

Have home builders sorted out all their build issues? In short, if they can’t do it to a static structure on land, one cannot expect any boat in a harsh saltwater and constantly moving environment to be 100% perfect all of the time. Leopard gets high marks and has become the #1 brand in N America for good reason.

​@billregan1981 there's a video around with some brand new leopards with lots of issues. And with very little support from the manufacturer.

@@Craig-dn6hnI’m sure Leopard and Robertson & Caine stand by their warranty and will fix issues addressed in the proper channels. Not everyone is always going to be pleased with whatever they’ve got; from a toaster oven to a Tesla to sailing catamaran. And of course the reaction these days is to take to social media. I say, find a good boat for you, get out there and sail and enjoy life.

@billregan1981 probably true, but the travel sketch videos paints a very bad picture of this manufacturer. Stories like that will hurt their reputation long term.

It’s the Caribbean, it’s windy! Arguably, the first 45 seconds with brief overview of the yacht is annoying with the wind noise, but you could just skip past me nattering on and get to the awesome boat tour which has much less wind noise 😎

Yea, it was sold long before the boat show! They display new boats at the show that are already sold. But we have several of these 45s in inventory with our brokerage.

Yes, the wide angle mode on my iPhone. It helps to better show the interiors of the boats I find.

@@stevesteel6066 thanks for the comment. This 40 is priced quite competitively for today’s market in The USA. Look at the other 40s out there. Most ex-charter owner version boats are asking over 400k. The only 46 on the market in the US currently is asking 100k more and is quite a bit older.

Thanks for the comment. Not to my knowledge, but there is little reason to suspect anything out of sorts to be found there. Leopards are not known to have issues with their bulkheads. Part of any purchase should be a pre-purchase survey inspection to check for any structural and mechanical concerns.

I’m not sure I understand your question about “keel the headsails and mast?” The Leopard cats are highly regarded cruising cats that sail well for the type of boat they are. The strong points for sailing include stepped hulls for narrow profile below the water, code 0 type sails forward and of course folding props help if looking to maximize performance.

Ha! That’s great…easy to solo sail with all lines lead aft, electric winch, easy to get to side deck so can even dock solo 😏

No, saildrives as most modern sailing catamarans do. This saves space and gets the engines into their own aft compartments and out from under the aft berths.
