w550i & w595
The concept of smartphone is not of IBM...... the idea of smartphone is old and the early ones failed. Then they were used as e-book readers (pre-Kindle era) and gradually Mr. Steve Jobs saw an opportunity. Though his idea was copied from a rejected research project.
Internet and civilization are ironically opposite now
well someone made ton of cash mismanaging IBM im sure. GOOD FOR THEM
I remember at that time, after cybershot and walkman success, fans demand Playstation phone, and never get it before XPERIA PLAY, but it still make fans disappointed because it feel half-hearted
P900i is the most sexiest phone until today IMO. Sexy yet macho & elegant. I was SE user and fans since T310 in 2003 😃
Well....until iPhone came along changed the game
I had my mobile phone phase from somewhat 2003ish to 20010. After a long streak of motorola Flip phones I got notice of the t610 and t630 from SE back in the day. When the k500i came out I got one myself. After that a V600i, then w810, w960 and my last was the vivaz pro HD. After that I swapped to motorola again
K730i
What was IBM doing in WW2?
Thinkpad is IBM
My first own mobile phone was my dad's hand-me-down Sony Ericsson Z60, the first flipphone., Later on, I got myself a SE Walkman, one of those where you could shake the phone to change tracks. Then it was various kinds of smartphones before I eventually landed on Sony Xperia XZ, followed by Xperia 1 and now Xperia 1 IV.
Sony Ericsson phones have always been close to my heart. I’ve used several Sony phones, including Xperia models, but there’s something special about Sony Ericsson that stands out. I still have Sony Ericsson K810i with me, and it holds some of my best memories. The experience with it has always been unique and unforgettable, unlike any other phone I’ve owned.
21:41 I never pronunce 286 as two hundred and eighty six. Are you a robot voice?
Is the entirety of all non-Europeans to copy whatever we create but cheaper. Cute.
Icahn. No need to search for early life, we already know what he is.
Never collaborate with asian companies. The levels of greed and lack of ethics are extreme.
I bought an original MAC after during 1984. My intention was to write gaming and development software. I bought or rather applied for some Apple written development software. The letter I got with that software basically said I had to ask Apple for permission to develop any software before I sold it, yeah, but it was more Draconian than their attitude today. I sold the MAC for a little profit. wrote Apple a letter telling them to F^%K themselves. I really liked that Motorola chip their were using, but marketing and management made that a no-go. I contacted IBM and Microsoft about development info and tools and a truck backed up to me house. I was very glad I didn't buy by the pound! I remember Warp OS and I had Windows 1.08 on a boot disk as a interesting toy. I also developed software for awhile for the Commodore PET and 64. I LOVED Digital Research's languages but then they decided to add a whole section where they became my partner and i had to do bookkeeping for them, dropped them like a rock just like Apple. I had a friend who was forced to lead IBM's sell off of the PC and laptops to Lenovo. He hated that was retired a few years later, but it was do it today or get fired. I knew that IBM was dead after that when they could throw away success because it had a lower profit percentage and didn't realize the IN it gave them. Same for HP later. When management is pushing the appearance of success rather then the hard work and persistence of success, you are doomed.
Pretty much sums up the bureaucratic organisation that was the reality of the faster moving industry of the '90s and beyond. IBM couldnt keep up with its older business model.
How is IBM dead? They generated USD$61.9 billion in 2023 🤷♂️
7:32 ... *_great production!_** ^5* _kudos_
SE die hard here. Having phone from T68i (2002) to k700(2004), k750(2005), k800, w810(2006), k850(2007) SE X1(2008) and SE Xperia arc(2011) great camera/music player phones in one except that X1 windows is unresponsive.
k750i was epic
Those days never purchased any phone other than sony ericsson. Started with k750i ended with satio.😢😢
I still think of the K750i with immense fondness. Such a beautifully designed phone and the camera quality was mind blowing at that time.
In the 80s Digital Equipment planed to bleed the applications off the IBM mainframes. Then the PCs came along and those desktop computers got powerful enough to bleed the applications off the mini computers. Then came the smartphones came along and that was the end of the PCs. These high power smartphones are both powerful enough to do the processing required for most problems and in addition are networked to the network.
Watching this on my Honor Magic V3 phone 🤳📱 😊😊
Could you do a film about Elonex or Texas Instruments, when i was younger i made serious money selling Gateway 2000 pc's and Elonex Pentiums , the profits were crazy .
As someone who worked 40 years in Silicon Valley, I can say 90% of meetings were a waste of time.
6:17 There was no iPhone 2
1:11 Scene from another time, with the guy smoking and his colleagues don't seem to care. Perhaps it's because they smoke too(?)
Thanks Microsoft. Ibm and apple are the same, expensive and arrogant.
Darwinism
IBM Boulder Colorado is a huge complex that has been mostly vacant for years. CEOs Akers and Gerstner fired many and deleted many hardware products…ran it into the ground.
I had w700i w810i
😂😂😂 who killed the 217 billion dollar company?! Check the all time stock price dude.
The fall of Germany in ww2
Back in those days, I had a Sony Ericsson W595 Walkman series phone. It had amazing sound quality. I loved that phone, thanks for bringing back the nostalgia 😊.
I love the IBM corporate man
You forgot to mention that they helped the German government keep track of the concentration camp inmates in the 30's and 40's, their help was invaluable to their cause.
This looks like the INTEL story
T610, K700, K750, K800 and W800 - loved those devices, amazing quality and function, even had the stereo speakers attachment, they could fill a small room and sounded wonderful ^^
IBM is not an acronym. You're welcome.
Never trust japanese people. I am saying from my personal experience.
That's AI voice right?
This is an excellent video essay on cognitive inertia.
My Father Had A Purple Sony Ericsson Analog Keypad Phone Back In 1998 He Currently 2024 Has A Blue Digital Touchscreen Apple IPhone 13 Pro Smartphone
OS/2 demise is a sad disapointment, in particular version 3 and up should have taken the market the same way XP did, why am I referring XP, well because would have OS/2 warp taken the market we would have had at least as good multitasking as XP had a decade earlier and would likely be leaps and bounds ahead software wise way earlier than was the case with windows taking over. OS/2 was technically a better product, it is shamefull how poorly marketed and deployed it was, the world of computing suffered as a result, an Operating System like OS/2 with such deep object oriented interfaces implemented allowed us to do in the GUI what we could do in Unix with its powerfull scripting etc only with so much added features and capabilities directly available just by referring application object directly. And these things are just the tip of the iceberg capabilities and features wise, its multitasking was also at least a decade ahead in quality and performance. I must move on, thinking about the loss of OS/2 still makes me sad.
IBM's self-driven final nail in its PC coffin was it's atrocious handling of OS/2, arguably the best OS for 80x86 processors with unlimited mods to integrate new things, like the internet. IBM did little to sell OS/2 for the first couple of years. Then they authorized self-defeating public advertising, such as a businessman looking out at you with the caption, "It obliterates everything on my PC." Why would you or anyone else buy such a thing? IBM made it sound like OS/2 was the latest virus that people needed to be protected from. With OS/2 dying off real fast after that, IBM's inroads to the general public sales also lost out.
K550i was my first phone, then -> X10i -> Neo L -> Arc S -> M4 Dual(Shitty Phone yeah) -> SP -> Z1 Compact -> X -> XZ3 -> 5II(green line death lol) -> 1IV Long live Sony Ericsson/Sony 🤙🤙
